They both seem to want the same thing: preservation of the fallen. However, Mithrax wants to ally with humanity. I can’t imagine Variks wants a war with humanity, though. Why do these two to-be Kells hate one another?

Edited by CresterOts: 11/18/2018 5:16:19 AMVariks The "Loyal" is loyal only to Eliksni. He knew what would happen once The PoE was rebooted. He knew The Scorn would escape, he knew many Awoken would die, and he probably knew Cayde would come and possibly die. He saw what Fikrul was doing....he may not have fully agreed with his methods....but he knew Fikrul wanted the Eliksni to rise once again (pun totally intended). Fallen must rise...yes? Mithrax wants a future where Eliksni, Guardians, Humanity, Exo, and Awoken can coexist.....and be a true alliance. He knows the only way for Eliksni to survive is to ally with Guardians....and their current path is only going to end in extinction. Only a future where all work as one....can all parties survive the approaching Darkness.

29 RepliesCuz Mithrax is a d*ck for no reason. Variks never talked sh*t on him. Matter of fact he never talks sh*t on anyone yet everyone has something to say about him. Ridiculous really

Edited by Shockwave 989: 11/21/2018 2:50:22 PMThe contention is Mithrax wants a fresh start, Variks wants to restore the old ways of the Elinski. The 'loyal-lies' probably refers to the attitude Variks has, that the old ways can be restored. Or the fact that Variks has back stabbed twice now. Though it depends on how much Mithrax actually knows.
-
1 ReplyMithrax sees a future with the fallen and Humanity, while Variks just wants to put the Elinski back on the map like how they once were. I don't think Variks would want to fight us, but things might get very political. I think Mithrax just doesn't trust him given he left the Awoken he was "loyal" to.
-
2 RepliesTo make it super simple, Mithrax is progressive and Variks is conservative.
-
1 ReplyVariks is the equivalent of Palpatine.
-
6 RepliesMithrax understands the Way of the Sky. He knows that the way to redemption for his people is by working with Humanity to insure the Travelers protection. Unity through cooperation. Variks doesn't. His only goal is to survive. Whenever a threat emerges that can end him, he rolls on his back and submits to the higher power to serve them and backstabs the ones he was previously loyal to. We've seen this countless times.
-
2 RepliesI still don't see why people think they hate eachother? Just because he said loyal lies doesn't mean he's talking about Variks the loyal, thats not even his name to the other Fallen, it's Variks the betrayer He even says variises truth, referring to how he thinks of Variks speaks the truth

Edited by Zelrons: 11/20/2018 5:26:00 PMSimple. Variks wants to preserve the House system believes in the old ways. Mithrax believes the age of Kells is over and that it's time for a change. They have directly conflicting ideals.
-
Variks has done some shady stuff and has betrayed people in the past to get to where he is. Whether his decisions were right or wrong depends on what we talk about, but the general gist to me seems that Mithrax doesn't trust Variks, even if they share a similar goal.
-
1 ReplyDoes Variks want to reclaim the Traveler for the Fallen? Because we know that Mithrax wants us to have it. I also believe that either at the end of D2 or D3 we're going to be ending Variks. It's going to be tragic, but he's slowly being positioned as becoming our enemy.

I see a DLC where there is an eliksni civil war, on one side Mithrax and Variks on the other. Guardians have to choose a side and it creates a divide in the Tower.
-
6 RepliesBoth probably want to be the kell of Kells. But there can only be one
-
Same goal, different vision. Think of it as, say, two Englismen. Variks wants a rebirth of the glory days (in this example, the rebirth of the British Empire, when the Crown had power in every continent). Mithraaks sees that such a time has passed, and that a new solution is needed (Britain becoming part of the UN, etc). They see two very different futures with one end

1 Replysimple...
Variks was "Loyal" to the Queen, Mithrax would have probably went to the Queen and the awoken to gain an alliance first before asking The City for peace, Variks leaving the Queen and abandoning his post would only hurt the reputation of the Eliksni by giving the Queen and the Vanguard a reason not to trust Mithrax as the most nogotiable of his race had -blam!-ed over the Dreaming City and the Vanguard with A. the death of Cayde-6 (even though it wasn't really his fault) and B. if the Variks never left the prison, then we would have never went to the Dreaming City, kill Riven, and curse the place in a never ending loop of pain and war against the Taken, Scorn, and Hive.
