Why The Guardian lowered the Ace of Spades

I think that The Guardian had a moment of realization about what they were doing, and saw Uldren as what would happen to them if they continued down this path. Uldren was obsessed with bringing back his sister, so much so that he was willing to destroy The Awoken, he was so blinded by grief and anger that he would destroy his own kind to bring her back. Killing Uldren wouldn’t bring Cayde back, and killing him for revenge would just make us more like him, but killing him for justice, and so that he wouldn’t be able to hurt anyone else, would have been the right thing, and prove that we are not murderers like the barons said.

Can I ask a serious question? How did people get tricked into this whole "moral dilemma" bullshit that doesn't exist? Are you telling me that monstrosities of nature who have an enemy type literally named abomination are somehow justified in calling us murderers? Why are the barons any different from the red legion? Should we have just sat around the farm and not sought to reclaim the tower? Because that was revenge wasn't it obviously we could have just let them have it. And no the sun blowing up doesn't counter this argument because we actually didn't know that until after our quest to get revenge. Why is killing awful, terrible people who do awful and terrible things suddenly "morally confusing" to some people? Uldren didn't try to atone for what he did, he admitted he did it and gave the worst villain cliche line ever of "we're not too different you and I". Where is the moral ambiguity there?

    • Never understood that part. I didn’t realize we weren’t genociding the fallen, cabal, vex, and hive.

    • My guardian didn't kill him for justice or for revenge, he killed him for the loot in the dreaming city

    • I lowered my hand cannon to aim for Uldrens balls rather than his head.

      • I personally think that my Guardian killed Uldren, not for revenge or even justice. But to protect the people of the city from him because if we left him alive someday he would eventually come back for us with that crazy monster thing in his head telling him what to do.

      • I killed Uldren for justice. He was a murderess lunatic who killed scores of his own people, the same people who are greatest allies and have sacrificed thousands to save us.

      • My Guardian has no moral compass. However, he did feel sorry for that emo prince for being swallowed by a giant floating butthole

      • Nah, -blam!- Uldren. My head-canon is that my Guardian yoinked Petra’s pistol and shot him with both.

Nah, if this story really is about MY guardian, I pulled a Dr. Loomis and shot his ass 6 times. Been wanting to kill that douche since the pre alpha cutscenes in D1.

        • Except we raised the gun again. Not killing Uldren isn’t gonna stop us from continuing to mindlessly killing the other enemies. Fallen aren’t evil they just want the Traveler back. But that isn’t gonna stop us from mindlessly killing them and tearing down every high ranking fallen we run into. Uldren needed to pay for his actions and we wouldn’t go all this way to not kill him. Hence why I believe both us and Petra both Shot Uldren. Hence why the gunshot sounds different from the vestian dynasty and the axe of spades.

          • Still had he lived there’s no telling what other harm he may have done. I’m more interested in if we actually shit him there a couple hints to this “if you really did what they say you did.” Like why bring up the question if we did for sure?

          • The Ghost reminds of this quite a bit, too, especially towards the campaign’s end.
