powerful gear dropping under light level..
have now done 3 of the weekly resets and have received all 3 "powerful gear" engrams that are under my current light level, is there still a bug with the powerful gear?

Just had a weekly kenetic powerful Engram drop at PL 552 when my light level is 586 and this is not the first time this has happened to me this week it’s like the game thinks I’m at a completely different power level than what I am at

8 RepliesOk, you guys have to understand some math and how the system works. As stated before, the normal weekly powerful engrams will only yield 1-2 power levels as intended. There is a tier system and the dreaming city, the weekly bounties, always yield the best gear. Up to +10 of your current power level. Now, as I'm sure most of you know, your power level is an average of all your gear, the 7 pieces. That means, your power level could be 520, but you have pieces above and below that PL. Lets say you have a 525 arm, but your PL is 520, well a 522 is still an increase, just not for the arm unfortunately. RNG will play a factor and you are not always going to get an engram for your lowest piece of gear. If that were the case we would all be 600 by now.

8 RepliesThis is working as intended. Lower PL activities will yield little power upgrades - even stated by Bungie before Forsaken release. After 520 PL your main source for effective powerful gear will come from the dreaming city and the raid. There are still bugs that need to be ironed out such as the offering reward (since that seems to be the best one).

I reveived 2 items a chest at 506 i level and a auto rifle at 505 i level. I am currently 523 i level. This is WAY below what I should have gotten for a powerful gear item piece no ? I am sitting on 2 more turn ins. Do not want to waste those as well. And for the record, I did these quests after the patch today and the quest reward said powerful gear.

Powerful gear scales to the difficultly level of that activity. The Dreaming City and Nightfall gear, for example, will reward more powerful gear than completing 5 crucible matches.

The powerful gear now has tiers kinda. Khakis made a pretty short vid on it. basically : Tier 1 : Weekly / daily engrams Tier 2 : Nightfall / Spider bounty Tier 3 : Petra engrams Tier x (can drop 5+ above or not) : Prime engrams.

3 RepliesPretty sure they said long ago that if you want big time gear, gotta do big time content. Expect the raid and nightfall to be the only major boosts past 520. Doing 1 strike isn't gonna help boost to Max power anymore.

There is a tier list for power engrams once u hit certain light level target these so called power engrams stop becoming power engrams an only offer +1 to your light level.

2 RepliesI've had that or dropping at the same light level as item of same category. Plus the powerful gear opportunities for strikes, Crucible and Gambit that I finished last week didn't refresh for this week.

This happened to me 3 times last week, and twice this week, dropping at or below my current max light. Frustrating. It is hard to get ready for the raid on Friday, and getting shafted on drops. The Oracle disappeared too which adds another level of frustration as well.

I’ve just received powerful gear under my currently equipped gear. Is this right? I thought powerful gear should give you a little bump at least. Why would I continue to do these if they become irrelevant?

4 RepliesI'd like a response from bungie about this shit. It's a waste of time if they won't let us go past 520. No one will be raid ready whenever it drops this Friday and it's ridiculous!!!
