So first off, I’m not thinking about winning or motes, I need these 5 kills of invaders with a hand cannon so as soon as I hear we are invaded, that’s all I care about.
Secondly, a lot of invaders just hang back with sleeper or whisper. Also you can’t see them unless they are in plain site and they can see me at all times. I’m meant to close the gap with a hand cannon how?
Thirdly, they also get an overshield.
Stupid. Quest. Requirement.
It just isn’t fun and I’m not worried at all about helping my team win, I just want these 5 kills.
——————————————-
*edit* After a couple hours I had one kill. Problem was most invaders were using sleeper which is an easy one hit kill. That along with having an over shield and using other more powerful weapons or my team mates getting the kill instead with sleeper or finishing off my work, it was really dragging.
Then in one game I just spawn camped one invasion spot (and didn’t bother with our prime evil) and lucky for me they kept spawning there with me behind them. The invaders were obviously even worse than me. I’d grenade their overshield and crimson them. Ended up getting 4 in one game to finish it off.
It’s made me horribly bored of Gambit. Is that really how they want people to play to do these quests? Just like I kept leaving crucible over solstice if there wasn’t enough time for another super when I needed super kills or when I needed my 5 wins, if my team was doing really badly, again, I’d just leave.
I’ll get my 25 head shots in crucible ok, but yuck, hated that Gambit bit.

This game was obviously not made for PvP. PvP was probably a after thought

5 RepliesThis quest made me really disappointed in Bungie, as it seems to have completely forgotten its largest portion of userbase, the most casual players. And I'm not talking about myself, I'm pretty decent at PVP but this is incredibly hard even for me. But who I'm thinking of is people like my GF, who aren't great FPS players in general and cannot handle the extreme cheese that is PVP, nevermind barely making it through a raid even. You are turning off casual players like her by having a main story item like this be locked behind a quest that she will 100% never be able to do. She would have to dedicate years improving her PVP skills to even hope of accomplishing it at this point.

Edited by Rexus-7: 9/24/2018 8:22:06 PMI guess I have to quit. I know this is a sensitive topic for Destiny2 players, veterans and newcomers allike. But this is an issue and bungie should try to solve it... and it is solvable. I won't get 25 headshot kills with a handcanon in crucible against people who are sweaty as hell, use shotguns, scouts, snipers or anything else more powerful and since there is some story after getting the ace... and the ornament i got from preorderring, I feel cheated on. I felt bad einough for ruinning 3 or 4 Gambit matches for my other Teammates by allways running to my campingspot as soon as the possibility of an invader was there. Now that I took a look at crucible and saw that mayham, I think it is time for me to give up. Great idea to lock a preorderbonus behind a really hard PvP queststep. And yes, I get it, it should not be easy... but i feel like it should be achievable for everyone who might have preorderred and who is interrested in the story. I read here on this thread that the ending of that quest is worth it.... so I guess it is really good. But that brings me to think that the Gambit and then PvP precision kills with a handcanon are a bit too hard for something that is so important to everyone, good and bad player alike. I don't mind if they lock any other exotic behint something like that, as long as we don't get a situation where ppl won't be accepted into raids because of not having it. But locking story and a preorder ornament behind a task as monumental as this seems not really like the best idea. I payed.. and i feel like something was now stolen. And to all those who now write "git gud" belkow this, note the following: If i am among the bottom 5% of players in terms of skill with a handcanon, even if I practice and improve, I won't Improve fast einough to keep up with all the other players improving. Everyone has a different learning curve for different weapons. The handcanon is good, but many weapons in many situations are better and the chances of me getting better at a handcanon faster than someone who as a higher learning curve and a better weapon are just 0%, sorry to break your bubble there. Math does not lie. And if you want to bring the argument that 250 headshots in a strike are maybe hard or annoying too, I have to remind you that while you improve, AI enemies won't do that too and not at a faster rate than you. Or go with a Destiny2 example and thiink about going into a lost sector: For every 10 lightlevels you will gain, the enemies will gain 11. If you start even or just a little bit below an enemie, you will make it. But if you start at 100 and the enemie already is at 150, you will only make it when yu max out. The problem just is, every player maxes out on a different level of skill... so some will never get high einough to even deal any damage to the enemy. If you want a comparison to Dark Souls: PvE: Normal Darksouls experience. PvP: Imagine every Darksouls Boss be controlled by another player. That is a challenge only very few will overcome. The ones that are really really good and the ones who are realy really lucky. Don't hide something prepayed and some important story behind something that hard. This will keep many players from ever experiencing it at all. So please. make it any other exotic other than a gun that everyone has such strong feelings about and where a story and a prepayed ornament is attached to. This is a rather bad desicion. Not for maybe 80 or 90% of the playerbase, but with your playerbase, 10-20% of those people are still a huge amount of people. People who payed for the game, its story and the ornament. It is bad desicion to keep them from experiencing the full story. And I don't expecti it to become easy or quick and I don't ask bungie to just hand it to me. But I ask for a challenge, that is possible to achieve for everyone for something that core to the game and the story. I ask for a way to experience it without having to play crucible for half a year and nothing else to maybe get it.... or maybe not. Hope someone understands the point I'm trying to make here. To whomever writes "git gud" below this, you don't and maybe did not even read the whole thing. I can not do more than present facts and numbers. And so far, the facts are that there is a special weapon with a preorder ornament and story to it locked behind something, many players won't ever see... and I think that needs a little fixing. I don't dare to give any sugestions because I'll first of all get blasted by "this is way too easy" answers and I am no gamedesigner. I am just a player... probably a bad one at that as many willl probably call me. So please bungie, keep focusing on the players that are really good in this game, but please don't forget the less skilled ones and hide story and things they payed for behind a battle they can not win. If any bungie employee takes the time to read all this... first: Hi Second: I think i am making a valid point. Please run the numbers and variables yourself if you are not sure. I don't think it was a mistake that you locked the Ace behind something hard, it is how you did it and what you connected to that gun. Make such a quest for anything else, then it works fine since I get that not everyone should have every gun instantly or sometimes at all. But please think about that you connected important story and a preorder ornament to this specific gun and tell me if it is a good and fair idea, to make it for some players not possible to get. I am not looking for noobfriendly stuf, you had your problems with that. I'm only asking for noob inclusive story... that you don't lock story behind a wall that not everyone can overcome in his playtime since the wall keeps getting higher at a higher rate than slow people can increase their speed ad climbing it. If you made it until here, thanks for reading and sorry for the bunch of spellingmistakes I probably made. And I hope I can later that month or so come back and see an achievable way to see the rest of the story of our beloved Cayde-6 and the ornament of the Ace of Spades applyed to the gun in my hands. Edit: I actually stopped playing when i wrote this only taking a look each week to see if they changed it... Other than that bungie made me so sad with that choice, that i don't have fun playing d2 anymore because i always have to that parts of the story are forever lost on me.... and that i'll ptobably never experience this story fully myself unless i find a workaround... so yeah... thanks bungie... you runied destiny 2 and the whole story for me :( I really loved the game... even if i made fun of the bugs and glitches... i still at heart lovet the story and lore, not caring how gringy it sometimes was... but now you took story away from me and many other players.. and that is not okay. Bungie, please think about what i wrote and change something.. if you even read it...

1 ReplyI'm totally with you... and to all those this-is-so-easy-you-suck-get-good-guys in here: F*** you! F*** for the sake of humanity. Here ist the thing: I AM THE MOST HORRIBLE PVP-PLAYER EVER... and i know that, which ist the reason, i tend to ignore PvP. I don't have the time or the patience to "get good" at something i don't enjoy doing. But this carrot-and-stick approach of Bungie is like an epic middle finger. Like: Oh, you want this weapon the whole Campaign teased you with? Well, yes you can... and here is how: do some LZs - easy done. Now do some PvP... five kills should be as easy, right? NO. I tried for five hours now, doing this in Gambit and i don't have a single Kill to show... Oh, and my team lost partly because of this, many times. Why can't there be an alternative route? So f*** this Questline, F*** this gun and - most importantly - F*** you, Bungie for forcing PvP upon PvE-Player.

Edited by DeathPony07: 9/6/2018 2:46:47 PMBungie, stop making us play PvP for quests ffs. inb4 the elitist d-bags. Oops too late.

2 RepliesTrudged through four boring games, couldn’t get one invader hand cannon kill. No Ace of Spades for me. I was given misinformation that Gambit was going to be like ODST’s Firefight. Turns out it’s just more PvP trash reskinned with some NPCs in there. But it’s very much PvP. I wish they would separate PvP and PvE so all could enjoy this game and play as they like. Getting good isn’t an option. If it hasn’t happened in 40 years of video games, it’s sure as crap is not going to happen for my geriatric arse now. Enjoy your cool hand cannon, good players.
-
I’m crap at crucible/gambit. I’ve gotten 2 invader kills in 2 matches. No don’t change it. I’ll get them. Leave the quest as it is.
-
Just cheese it. Message the other team and offer to trade invasion kills. That's what I did.
-
9 RepliesI don't usually post this kind of thing, but seriously: "get good". I wasn't even really trying for the kills, and I bagged 3 in 1 match. If they're using long range weapons, be smarter about your approach. Don't stand in the open. Wait for them to shoot, and follow the tracer (Sleeper is basically a giant laser pointer - might as well scream "I'M RIGHT HERE!") As for the overshield, while It's certainly a factor I haven't noticed that it makes things that much harder. Then again, I'm very good with nailing snap headshots with a HC - those melt shields. Remember: it's supposed to be a challenge - or did you think they'd just hand you Ace of Spades, and send you on your way?
-
1 ReplyIf they changed it to invader/invasion kills it would be fine. Took me 6 hours to do 5 kills because of stolen kills, etc. The rest of the quest was like 2 hours tops. Pretty odd ratio. If they changed that small bit, it would be just fine.

14 RepliesI've actually uninstalled Destiny 2 because of this stupid ass Gambit/Crucible shit. I am by no means a skilled player, hell I can't even aim properly with a mouse and keyboard most of the time because, my hands twitch occasionally. I bought forsaken under the assumption that I'd get to do 2 things: 1. Finally kill that asshole Uldren (I've hated him since D1) Didn't get to actually do or see... 2. Get MY Ace of Spades back (Remember, it was OUR gun first in D1 before Bungo decided to give it to Cayde) I'm not going to sugar coat anything about this, it's awful and I feel I've wasted 80 dollars that I'll never get back. Gambit sucks because of this quest, crucible is going to be temporarily ruined by it as well (I don't even play pvp in any game that gives me a choice but, I still care about the community) and the only upside I can see to any of this is that a bunch of the best PvPers will be reviewing/have already reviewed this gun because, THEYRE THE ONLY ONES GOOD ENOUGH TO HAVE GOTTEN THEIR HANDS ON IT WITHOUT WANTING TO TEAR THEIR OWN EYEBALLS OUT OF THEIR SOCKETS!
-
28 RepliesI don't know why people on here are harping on skill. Player skill has nothing to do with this. It's bad game design period. Players are not helping their team when the only goal is to spawn camp invaders with a handcannon. It's distracting to that player as well as the team, and it leads to player resentment of the game mode. Which is not good when considering Gambit was one of the major selling points of this expansion. Bungie has a track record of doing this sort of thing however so I wasn't surprised. But people please, quit yammering about skill. Last time I checked the objective was to win the match.

Edited by mja calg: 9/6/2018 9:48:38 PMThis forcing people to screw their team over so you can get 5 head shot kills is just plain STUPID. Bungie, you need to re-think this stuff. If you had put this in Crucible, that's fine - But not in Gambit.

1 ReplyEdited by Stainless Steel Ratt: 9/7/2018 12:35:12 AMI average a KDR of about .6 on a good day in Crucible. Now I'm fighting wih three other people (my teammates, the people I'm supposed to be working together with) to get kills in a game mode where I have a very small number of chances to do so. This isn't ever going to happen, especially since I'm a (I'm sure you'd like the filthy modifier here) casual who won't ever be near the average light in Crucible. I don't even care about the exotic, I don't want it because it's powerful, I want it because that's Cayde's gun. The only reason I bought Forsaken was because they killed Cayde and now I want to end the -blam!-er who did it. I kind of expected Ace of Spades to just be a reward for avenging Cayde, not an 8 quest that involves two instances of PVP, which I dread playing. Last time I played PVP was Destiny 1, only to get Bad Juju. So because Bungie did this, you people who enjoy PVP are gonna have a bunch of irritated, uninterested PVE guys in your Crucible and Gambit matches ruining your experience. For something like Chaperone or any other exotic they add, that's fine. But this gun was literally on the cover of this expansion and I have to go through all this misery to get it.

1 ReplyDoes anyone at Bungie actually Q and A amongst themselves to the pros and cons or just implement the first idea at hand! Kills as the invader should have been implemented and at a higher number as its obvious those with a childish mentality would and have forgone the idea of the team mechanics just to try hard at pleasing oneself! Trying to find a reason to purchase the new dlc and season pass but alas the forums are solidifying my notion that it’s just not worth it for a whole bunch off reasons and mainly due to the incompetence relating to poor implementation as it has been since vanilla Destiny! To those that rise and taste the salt when reading this, I rest my case and it’s ok, in a few years when your brain has fully developed, you will take this kind of thing with a pinch off salt rather than the whole bag!

Locking the creepy shard hand cannon behind crucible, sure, but seriously, cayde's gun is a physical object. Unless (I've deliberately not finished the story yet, I'm taking my time with this...) the gun is clearly and deliberately destroyed at the end of the story, there's a limit to the "reasonability" behind a tedious quest in the first place. Looking at what Cayde's gun is, sure, I can see it's pretty strong for "no quest at all", but dragging people who probably don't want to play pvp, into pvp, isn't a great idea... People can pretend all they like, the numbers are public and clear as sun light, PVP is not what even half of he people play this game for. If that many people deliberately avoid that part of the game, you shouldn't force them to play it unless the weapon, like thorn, was specifically designed for crucible but pretty well useless for PVE events.
-
2 RepliesI played for 4 hours and got 1 Hand Cannon kill on and invader & it didn't even count... After the kill not counting I'm done with this stupid -blam!-ing mess! I'll come back once they fix the quest step, I was excited for Gambit, really enjoyed the mode but this quest step has ruined the whole experience for me, whoever thought this was a good idea should be fired.. Im sick of all the good content in this game being tied to PvP, clearly bungies desperate for a competetive scene yet they dont realize most of the community is PvE players.. & ontop of that how are people suppose to kill a invader when they use only power weapons that have ridiculous aim assis plus they have 2 oversheilds & usually cross map you before you can get close? I mean Hand Cannon VS. Person with way more health and using a weapon like a sniper, fusion, shotgun or grenade launcher that one shots? GREAT IDEA! -blam!-ing assholes, especially since the gun is tied to the story, this is the Forsaken Campaign exotic yet 80% of its steps are completed by killing people in PvP.. WOW LIKE F-CK right off bungie.

1 ReplyEdited by Guardian3891: 9/10/2018 7:36:09 AMI figured i would play to win and the kills would come. Im stuck on 3/5. So far i have killed four invaders and the kills did not count. They show as a guardian defeated. Dont show on the quest.

Not that hard. I hate gambit and literally in 2 games I got it done. Would have been 1 but my whole team left like 3/4 into gambit
