So you got the Claymore. Congrats.
Now...imagine this: Redrix Broadsword isn't a thing and won't be a thing. Going into Forsaken, new guns will exist with random rolls that in all likelihood will outclass Redrix Claymore. It's not even that good of a weapon currently. Would you be happy with that situation, though, where you put in all this effort all Season long and then suddenly your trophy weapon is left in the dust and not even worth using? Probably not. That perk combo would just end up being a cool thing of the past.
But wait, Broadsword will exist and it will have Outlaw and Desperado along with random rolls - and you - yes, you, Claymore owner, can get it immediately at the start of Forsaken from Crucible engrams. Your Claymore may well be outdated but now you can try and get a God-roll Broadsword which you can then be putting to use in Season 4 competitive to get the next gun. Does it really matter that, maybe a month or two later, other people will start getting the gun? If people weren't dedicated enough to get the Claymore what makes you think they'd put in the time to get the Broadsword, and why worry about it? By the point other people start finishing the quest you can be so far into the Glory grind you may already have gotten the new pinnacle Crucible weapon, and it may well make the grind all the easier because the only people who will have Broadsword early on are those who earned the Claymore in the first place.
My advice? Start stockpiling your Crucible tokens if you haven't already, they'll still be redeemable in Forsaken, and spend, spend, spend them in Forsaken to try and get a good Broadsword - and other new weapons of course. And, y'know, good luck to you in getting the rolls you want/like.
Iron Banner, Vanguard, and Crucible tokens earned in Season 3 may be redeemed at their respective vendors in Season 4. Trials of the Nine will be on hiatus during Season 4, and its reputation tokens will not be redeemable. At this time, we have not yet determined whether its currency will be used when it returns.
7 RepliesThe only people annoyed by the broadsword are the people that got paid account recoveries.
-
8 RepliesThe biggest picture being missed around here is that this is just a -blam!-ing video game and people tend to forget that quite often.
-
14 Repliesclaymore is bad? oof... someones not seen despacito activate. Its not that great for comp but its a quickplay destroyer.
-
2 RepliesI dont care if the weapon isn't good or that it wont be good. It's about Bungie breaking a promise. They said it would be unique, exclusive, a one-time weapon with a unique perk which isnt so unique anymore. We dont care about an emblem, we just want the gun we worked for to be UNIQUE because that what we were promised.
-
7 RepliesExcept all the research into the TTK shows that slow rate of fire weapons will be meta..... With the Claymore having a perk that makes it VERY GOOD. Along with the added random rolls it will be able to get. Bungie hasn't brought it abck for everyone because it's trash, they've brought it back because it will be meta.

5 RepliesJudging by the complaints I’m seeing on the forums, the future of Destiny looks bright because most of them sound like whiny little kids running out of things to legitimately be mad at. If you’ve ever been around an overtired toddler you would know that they will cry about anything. Sibling looked at them funny, they dropped their shoe, their peanut butter sandwich smells different = end of the world. 😂 That’s the mentality common on the forums right now. There will always be things Bungie can improve on, but I’m seeing less merit in most of the complaints.

What the fact that it is a reskin of a reskin of a reskin ........ when will bungie ever learn😭

1 Replyeveryone is complaining about the broadsword and i'm just waiting for my unnerfed mythoclast to make a return :(

7 RepliesGod rolled guns = waste of time Bung likes to nerf shite way too much
-
That is absolutely the point. To grind and prove yourself at the top of the Season, every season. It's not about getting one gun to rule them all and just being first to get it. It's about being the only ones with it. You are missing the bigger picture here. This was a step backwards by Bungie.
-
That can keep that along with the armor I could have earned Waste of time

You missed the fact that based on the combat reveal it's all but certain high impact pulse rifles like Redrix will be able to 2-burst after the sandbox update. Combine that with random rolls and mods that will allow players to push stability and other stats on the Broadsword into levels higher than the Claymore, and you could have one significantly powerful gun in the right hands. The Claymore is only weak at the moment because it has to compete with meta weapons like the Graviton, VW, and Crimson. If high impact pulses return to D1 status and can reliably 2-burst, then watch out. In D1Y3 my Parthian Shot with braced frame was pretty near a sniper.

The way I see it... they made a beast of a perk combination. Too good to not make it accessible to more people. They had two options. Introduce desperado to the general perk pool so any weapon could roll it. Or make a new weapon with it that still has a gruelling questline to get it. I’m pretty sure the first option I listed would’ve inspired far more salt than what they’re doing.

As someone that got the Claymore last month, I'm surprised there's been such an emotional response from people with and without the gun to the Broadsword announcement. Broadsword quest and redemption seems to make a lot of sense and it's great to know more can enjoy the fun of Desperado in a clutch situation, yet still recognize others' Season 3 achievement by having the different name and emblem. I'm just disappointed by all the mudslinging over "wasted time" and how long the Broadsword Quest is. I think people have gotten too invested in the status symbols and vindictiveness, just be cool.
-
You should've stopped at why do you care what other people have.
-
People are ridiculous what was everyone hoping the gun wouldjust become obsolete New quest line seems like it will be just as difficult seems like those who did get Claymore really want everyone to know how sweaty they area

They need to quit their whining. They had the claymore for this season and the forsaken is a new season .

4 RepliesReality is simple. 1. Bungie got the math wrong despite people like me telling them it would be a 1% (margin or error not withstanding) pool of people who get it through paid carries and blind luck. 2. pretty much half of those who got it (check the stats of the players apparently ruling in competitive) look like they were paid carries. 3. The people complaining about the new setup are those who do or approve of paid carries. At this point Bungie threw their hands up and admitted they should have listened to the people telling them the math was crap and changed the system. So in year 2 they have changed the system to ensure that you will burn yourself should you decide to go the paid carry route. Hopefully this fixes some of the competitive lists issues. Incidentally this is also why they have removed and are "Re-thinking" trials. Stats on that show exactly the same issues i.e. paid carries rule and legitimate players are getting overwhelmed with cheats.

Not sure what the big fuss is about really, is it slightly annoying if you grinded for the claymore...possibly, is the broadsword easy to get...no not really so don't see what difference it makes, everyone who has the claymore can still use it. It seems like it's any excuse for the forum to cry about the 'new thing' you can tell the forum is full of teenagers and man children.

At first I thought this was really lame. Actually, D2's crazy reskinning problem is still lame. But then I thought about Glory rank and how much I hate Competitive Mode in the Crucible. Suddenly I didn't care.
-
36 RepliesYou miss the even bigger picture. It's not "congrats". We spend hours, upon hours fighting to get the weapon in the most stale, boring and outrageous meta. Nobody is really bothered about broadsword. Nobody is really bothered about their time not being respected. People hate what they had to go through, versus what the 99% will go through. Two easy solutions: 1. Make broad exotic. In that case, players who want to use it have to use a entire slot for it. This helps Claymore uses have the exclusivity they worked so hard to achieve. 2. Make Claymore re-rollable. Allow people to make Claymore the best version of what they grinded for.

the grind is so deep for this im not even gonna pay it no mind. gotta do competitive and lose more points then you gain when solo.. yea gl bungie noones gonna give a shit just like they didnt for claymore lololol

Edited by Divine_Majin93: 8/20/2018 1:31:00 PMThe big picture is that random rolls are back and there's gonna be more high impact archetype pulse rifles released into the game that can get the same perks. I don't know why everyone is crying. Not like Claymore was ever a fantastic meta God. I had the opportunity to use a friend's for a couple hours and I wasn't impressed. Likewise, unless I died to a teamshot effort and that player landed the final blow, I took big smelly dumps on the small amount of Claymore users ran into in Crucible with Graviton or VW. It's just not a good gun. It's a mere trophy dedicated to madness of putting up with a very lackluster Y4.

Indeed.

3 RepliesA whole season with no paid trials carries or recoveries for weapons. It kind of sucks for those that earned it but LOL at the people that spent money for it.
