So I was watching Return of the Jedi again...
And I thought to myself:
Thank goodness not one piece of the Death Star landed on the Ewok village or caused any fires [b][i]on a forest planet.[/i][/b]
[spoiler]Any guesses on how long pieces would have rained down on Endor, causing untold amounts of environmental damage?[/spoiler]

Around a few months actually. When the first Death Star went boom, if was raining debris for months. There is a tie pilot who flew during the battle who got shot down. His name was Qorl. He almost successfully kidnapped Jedi.

1 ReplyAtmospheres exist. The death star was big but after it was eviscerated by that explosion I doubt much of it made it down to endor after burning up in space.

Probably burned to dust while falling through the atmosphere.
