The Destiny Wiki said Ghaul died in the traveler explosion, but this was never confirmed by Bungie. From what was shown on screen, any number of things could have happened. For all we know he could have been granted what he wanted and sent somewhere, possibly changing his allegiance. What do you think

Devotion, self-sacrifice, death. He fits all three criteria set by the Speaker to become a Guardian. I personally wouldn't mind if Ghaul became a Guardian (especially considering Uldren is now one) because it could answer the question of whether or not non-humanoids (Humans, Exo, Awoken) can become Guardians. And given a bit of new lore from the Ghost Stories, it seems entirely possible that can happen. In the Lore Tab "Savin" a Ghost felt drawn to what appeared to be the body of a Fallen Vandal. The Ghost eventually reached towards the Light to revive the Vandal, but an Awoken rose from under the Vandal's body. The fact that a Ghost felt worried about having to revive a Fallen could confirm that non-humanoids can become Guardians. And as Destiny Lore states, the Cabal and the Fallen are not explicitly enemies of the Light. Both sides are enemies of the Darkness. The Fallen are attracted to the Traveler because they are certain it will be their salvation and the reason Ghaul tried to take the Light from the Traveler was to 'breed a better Guardian.' Of course, Ghaul was scattered into what might be trillions of Corrupted Light particles across only-Bungie-knows-what. But given the extreme diversity of the world that is Destiny, it is also possible that a Ghost could be able to collect said particles, unite them and successfully resurrect Ghaul into the first Cabal Guardian. While it is a very, very long shot, it would be interesting to see a Giant Albino Space Rhino RKOing other Guardians in the Crucible.

3 RepliesXol is the one you should be questioning if they are actually dead or not
-
I hope not. Otherwise next to The Stranger/Elsa Bray......that'll be another waste of potential.
-
They could have made him a raid boss like they set him up to be. But he's dead.
-
I'll ask him..... Yeah he didn't answer because he's very dead

5 Replies*kills Gaul* Me: "That was easy... Too easy, hmmm." *Gaul starts ascending* Me: "I knew it! Phase 2 let's go baby!" *Traveler wakes up and OHKs him* Me: ... Me: "REALLY!? NOW YOU WAKE UP!? WHAT ABOUT CROTA?! OR HIS DADDY!? AFTER ALL THAT YOU WAKE UP FOR A SPACE TURTLE!?
jokes aside I really wanted a phase 2... Or at least pull a Taken King and have him be the Raid boss.
3 RepliesFrom my understanding He is currently dead, however could be resurrected by a Ghost Ghaul was able to Sieze and Wield the Light, Forcing the Travellers blessing onto himself Compare this to us, we got the Travellers blessing without knowing, and we were resurrected by a Ghost
-
7 RepliesHe WAS light. The traveler dispersed him across the galaxy. Whether he can ever "pull himself together" will have to wait and see.
-
He has been in prison in the travel until he learns the mistakes of his ways. After that who knows what will happen🙀
-
I don't believe any of the D2 bosses are dead. Maybe the Dreaming City will have some fun surprises for us in Forsaken.
-
4 RepliesPretty Sure I saw him commenting on these forums.
-
3 RepliesI'll miss his husky voice... oh Gary...

Ghaul’s dead. He died, his Light was revealed, his Light was destroyed. He’s gone.
-
No one really dead, its a video game.
-
He was never “given” the light in my opinion. I’ve got a theory that the reason only certain people can wield the light is because something about it makes it-for lack of a better term- toxic to anyone else. I mean it basically melted Ghaul into a puddle of goo and I think the Traveler knew this would happen. I mean if just any old person could get the power of the light why not grant it to literally who died in the collapse (or anyone who’s dead for that matter if it can reverse death.) and overwhelm the darkness with sheer numbers alone? So I think he’s dead for good.

He's shit anyway. "Wahh, I wanna be chosen!!!"

2 RepliesNot every death has to be confirmed by bungie. They never confirmed that all of the Thrall I killed are REALLY dead.
-
23 RepliesEdited by doobiecloud: 8/2/2018 7:18:24 PM
but this was never confirmed by Bungie
you do realize the cutscene where he combusts into a million pieces was made by bungie. Idk what other form of communication you need to understand that someone died. Did they need a scene with his heart slowly beating down to nothing with a play by play of his atoms returning to the void?
-
He's dead. He's real dead.
-
3 RepliesI've told you people a million times now. He joined the Crucible team and it was his idea to put in a ton of heavy ammo when it was still 4v4. They fired him for that and now he's in a Christian rock band.
-
Hmmm... not sure...ive killed him 4 times since sept..n have 2 more times to go...if I decide to grind hunter n warlock event armor..but it's soooo much grind...so I say no, not dead jus stuck In a loop like cayde was 😂😂
-
I think water is wet..... then again :0
-
13 RepliesYeah he's dead. Ghost's are what bring Guardians back from the dead, not the light itself.
-
If Bungie's story team comes up with a working idea to bring him back, we'll see his ugly mug again. If not, we won't.
-
Lore tabs suggest he is dead.
-
3 RepliesHe will be back for a 3 mission DLC for 20 bucks.
