This isn’t as much reading as you think guys this post became a big compilation of tips so don’t be afraid to scroll through. The spoilers are my thoughts through the duration this post has been up. I have been trying to clean it up but the tips are just below this
*I also just added my step by step process for what I did for the Strike Orbs so my original kinda vague description is in the spoilers above the method
Enjoy the read!
Strike Orbs
You get between 15-19% at the beginning on “The Pyramidion” Nightfall because it spawns yellow bar enemies. You can let yourself die to the miniboss Minotaurs and rinse and repeat.
(More detailed below)
Happy Grinding
Edit:
While typing this and various wipes to work out efficient methods of wiping all the yellow bars, it took me 21 minutes (which is about a strike and a half going straight through killing mostly red bar enemies that have a lower chance of dropping orbs) to complete 0-100% of the strike orbs for my gauntlets (as a Warlock).
I would like to say this is the fastest method to do this if you haven’t done so. I didn’t watch any YouTube videos so if you see this somewhere... I’m happy I thought of it before it’s popular lol

FYI: I am doing the 270 version of the Nightfall and I personally used Legend of Acrius to one shot the yellow bars and Inaugural Address to take out hobgoblins before rushin in. Make sure to focus the hobgoblin and stand on the plate to the right side first so it flows with defeating all the enemies. You can kill a minotaur if you want but make sure you keep one alive to kill you so you can restart
*Open up the 270 version of the Nightfall
1. Approach the right side and kill the hobgoblin there first
2. Still from the top ledge I recommend shooting them from there if you have a scout or pulse or you can rush to them with a shotgun and quickly wipe them (picking them from afar is safer)
3. You DONT activate the right plate yet! You want to carefully rush the two goblins on the other side and make sure the area is clear
4. Activate the right plate now and run to the ledge in front of you. There you will see a vex cloud... it’s a hobgoblin. Throw a nade down at it, try ur best to shotgun the two goblins that spawn in on the right and hide because you will probably be low on health
5. Pick the hobgoblin on the other side and take the other goblins one by one
6. Activate the left plate and hide against the pillar in front of you. You can quickly kill a goblin there and maybe another if you’re fast.
7. You should probably have ur super by now so once the red bars and the minotaurs spawn in, pop it and wipe them.
8. You can try and kill a Minotaur if you please but I found it faster to just wipe so thus the final step is...
9. Rinse and Repeat
Lemme know if you got any questions. Enjoy!
Edit 2:
I saw someone doing normal strikes on my friends list and I told him about the Nightfall and he’s like omg thank you sm I hate grinding through these slow strikes lol
I figure I should just put this detailed strategy of how exactly I got the EDZ orbs in here too to expand on helping others reduce the grind.
EDZ Orbs
Start up the Redux “Payback” Mission and get into the Drake tank for this and try to follow the best you can. This is step by step how I cleared the room starting after killing the 3 red bar psions and yellow bar Phalanx that are at the beginning
1. 2 Legionnaires jump in on your way into the room... shoot them lol
2.Wait for the phalanx to jump next to his friend and collat them
3. You can shoot the missiles hanging from the ceiling so shoot that next to take out the majority of ads in the center
4. There are two more sets of these missiles in the back room so shoot those right after since you’ll be aimed in on it after shooting it anyway
5. Collat the two Centurions to the right on the platform
6. By now the psions should be grouped towards the front middle where you can try to shoot them but they can run away to the back left corner of the main room
7. Hold tracking missiles to clean up the room and get started on the back room if there are any extra ads you missed
8. If all done according to plan, an interceptor should almost be dead in the back room and to the left side should be a centurion chillin
9. Get out Drake to make sure you didn’t miss any orbs
10. Rinse and repeat
Edit 3 (more like 100 because the bold and italics took forever to work):
We aren’t number 1 but we are on that trending page a little thumb scroll down lol. I’m happy to spread these key tips to make a tedious challenge... just a little less tedious.
As Tip 3:
I strongly recommend doing the “Off-World Recovery” Meditation mission from Ikora this week. I personally find it the easiest mission out of the four available.
Edit 4:
We officially don’t have to scroll down to see the post! That excites me because I want as many people to get these tips before they drown themselves in boredom doin strikes for hours. Like one person down below, if you got tips of your own feel free to post them down below you’re only helping the cause and spreading ideas to improve upon.
Edit 5:
I like the tips being posted down below and yes it may have been an exaggeration saying “strikes for hours” but the time gated boss fights seem like they take an hour to me lol. I also like the “do it legit” comments because these are only tips you can choose to take them or not someone mentioned waiting for Mayhem to rotate to do the super kills. Although I wouldn’t personally do that now, I would do it on my alts because it would make the characters I don’t want to grind go by faster.
Keep up the grind Guardians!
Edit 6: I completely forgot that I should add this: I’m not personally there yet but you have to get 120 grenade kills and someone down below posted a great answer especially using the Nightfall.
Since we're talking about abusing the Nightfall for personal gain, I'll add this: The second armor set has a requirement of 120 grenade kills with a specific element for each class. Start the Prestige NF with the difficulty turned down as far as possible, turn on the matching singe for the kills you need, and turn on Grenadier, then use the Lost Sectors near the Pyramidion to get your kills.
I also wanted to add that you can use different armor pieces
Warlock: Sunbracers, Eye of Another World, Verity’s Brow, Starfire Protocol
Hunter: Fr0st-EE5 boots, Lucky Raspeberry, “Combat Meditation Low Recovery Hunter Build”,
Titan: Hallowfire Heart, Mask of the Quiet One, Armamentarium
I am also unaware of the element you need kills with but I still hope this helps you all...
Back to the grind!
Edit 7:
100 upvotes! My highest upvotes before this was probably 10 at best lol. So far I made it to the blue gear and took a break from Crucible since I lost by 2 points two games in a row. Arc melees for Warlock? Yeesh I’m running what I said above. I have Graviton equipped, Solar Heavy, with Arc Singe and Brawler in the Prestige NF. Little slower than I thought but it’s getting he job done I can’t imagine a more perfect environment for at least the arc melees and solar nades. You could probably do EP for Void/Solar weapon kills in the first wave of thrall but I’m just doing it as I could in the NF until the arc stuff is complete
Going back in bois
Edit 8 (yeesh already 8): So I did exactly what I said I was goin to do:
-Prestige NF w/ Singe+Brawler for melee kills (Warlock gotta pretty much wait but obviously use bottom tree for Stormtrance. Hunters can run Fr0st-EE5 and the dodge that recharges Melee energy so you melee kill, Dodge, Melee kill, run into a wall to gain back the Melee/Dodge energy, then repeat.
-I changed to EP for super kills because you get it much quicker and the ads are much squishier. Plus, if there’s a PE, you can pick up the flag, super, fast travel back and hope someone isn’t already doing PE, pick up the flag again, repeat
-I actually put on a Grenade Launcher for power weapon kills... I really don’t know why but it was alright the AoE against the red bar EP ads worked so I didn’t mind
-For nades, I cant speak for other classes but Warlocks got it EXTREMELY EASY! Go Dawnblade top tree and equip Sunbracers. Even if you don’t have Sunbracers top tree Dawnblade gets your abilities back so fast
Tomorrow I hit the adventures!
Edit 9: I did most of the busy work now I only need 10 adventures and the rest of the redux missions! Btw I didn’t mention this before the subclass matters for elemental orbs. Although the Drake tank method spawns Solar orbs sometimes it is only because the Drake shoots solar the orbs revolve around your subclass. Still in awe for how far this has come. Welp...
Time to nap and wait for Astroworld to drop!
Edit 10: Astroworld is LIT guys. In Destiny news there’s not that much else to think of until I get to the Legendary gear. I get mad bored doing adventures that was such a missed opportunity I have 7 left and 1 redux mission

1 ReplyEnergy weapons are not making elemental orbs properly. Using solar subclass with solar energy weapon and only seeing approximately 1-2 solar orbs every 5 kills.
-
1 ReplyI found that as a Hunter, if the nightfall isnt working as intended switching to the full scroched set will start dropping orbs, instead of just the Chest Piece
-
6 RepliesLol I already got my armor fully upgraded
-
Or just do this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wGay7UrjNCM
-
1 ReplyQuestion: once you complete a pieces requirements, say you finish the green legs, do you have to keep wearing those legs for the other pieces, like green arms, to progress? Would help with light level a lot to be able to change back, but I'm guessing you have to have it all on at once?
-
1 ReplyGood tips. Maybe I'll finish my Hunter's armor after all, but there's no way I'm doing this on 3 characters! I believe subclass has a major impact. I ran Nightstalker with solar energy/power weapons, already finished void orbs but only maybe 20% on solar orbs, and maybe 3% arc orbs!
-
A good hint is to use the class that will aim for your orbs. Ex: If Arc, Stormcaller. Also using weapons of the same element helps.
-
1 ReplyBest one I’ve found was the glimmer extraction public event turned heroic on the EDZ just spam rockets as the enemies drop from the ship seriously took me two maybe three events and I was at 100 orbs.
-
13 Repliesdid anyone other than kids really need advice on orbs? I mean that mission drops like a BILLION orbs in the first section. You would have to be a complete dunce to not realize just CHANGE YOUR SUPER and farm the first section for multiple orb colors
-
-
15 Replies
3. You can shoot the pipes things hanging from the ceiling
They're missiles. How is that not easily identifiable? They're conically shaped and have fins for crying out loud.
-
2 RepliesYou my friend are a life saver
-
Appreciate all that effort you went to, to compile all that data. But for me, I’m done with Solstice of Whatchamacallit after the first mission. Hated it. But have fun though.
-
Thanks you !
-
3 RepliesI just hopped into normal strikes and completed the challenges and bounty’s...... took me 3 easy strikes to complete the part.....
-
1 ReplyIn the EDZ beside the massive cabal ship and the public event the enemies often fight against each other. I wasn’t even involved but came across the aftermath and there were void orbs everywhere! Got my earth orbs in no time farming that.
-
3 RepliesThanks for the info can you bum so I can refer when I get on
-
10 RepliesI'm just wondering if the energy type orbs are random drops or do they have to do with the weapons and sub-class I run. So, yesterday, I need void orbs and ran sentinel titan with graviton and void rocket launcher. Not sure it made a difference though.
-
It took me 2 strikes
-
Lmao you are actually participating in this trash event?
-
3 RepliesReally stupid question! I have to wear the full solstice armour for orbs to drop dont I
-
3 RepliesNice post guardian. I found that the meditation was immune to all damage with my green gear equipped so I equipped all my best stuff, beat mission at 385 and quickly switched back to green armor. Boom, credit received but did it with powerful gear equipped
-
Thanks for this!! Hate how we have to wear the armor haha
-
Thanks!

You can also load into strikes with friends and then just go do public events. Especially glimmer extractions. If you get arms dealer you can leave and go back to the patrol space
