"This is our finest hour. Ever victorious against the enemies of humanity. Ever triumphant in our home, and around the system. Now the City wants to honor us. Who are we to deny them?"
—Ikora Rey
It was a day that was supposed to be a celebration of our past glories. The anniversary of Six Fronts — the victory that united the City and gave us the Vanguard. Guardians donned ceremonial armor to commemorate the event, and gathered for a rousing speech by the Speaker. Then everything came apart when the Red Legion struck.
The Tower fell. The City was lost. Thousands of lives were lost with it. It was our lowest point since the Collapse. But humanity is not so easily extinguished.
We fought back. We recovered our lost Light. With the awakening of the Traveler, we faced our conqueror and prevailed. We reclaimed our home. We entered a new Golden Age.
That was almost a year ago.
Now, humanity is once again victorious: against the overwhelming might of Ghaul and the Red Legion; against Panoptes and the infinite threat of the Vex; against Xol and the unfathomable hordes of the Hive. More than ever, the City is grateful for their seemingly invincible Guardian protectors. And more than ever, humanity wants to show that gratitude.
Solstice of Heroes begins on Tuesday, July 31. This event is held in the Tower, and allows the inhabitants of the City to celebrate and thank Guardians for bravely defending them. During this time of celebration, Guardians will once again don the now-broken ceremonial armor from the day the City was lost to the Red Legion. They do this for many reasons: to remind themselves of what it's like to not be invincible; to challenge themselves and thus inspire the City even more; and to eventually reforge that broken gear into something stronger... just as humanity has been broken and reforged over and over again for hundreds of years.
Guardians will meditate on their journey through the Red War and take on additional challenges in those memories. They will marvel at the resurgence of the Traveler, as the elements themselves flare into existence during their adventures. And they'll do it all while humanity celebrates their past, present, and future.
Ikora Rey is the Tower's representative for the Solstice of Heroes event. She'll direct you to the center of the Tower, where the City has erected the Statue of Heroes as the focal point for the event. The statue will track your Moments of Triumph progress, and grant you the Solstice of Heroes event armor that you will begin upgrading.

I love this event, I'm pushing for my clan to get involved and it gets us playing together to help the ones not as good get the gear. I love the crucible (super kills grind was a pain) and all other missions and the fact its a free event and lasts 30 days is fantastic. People can hate on the matter, but I've been a destiny fan since day one and since having to actually grind for good armor was what old school gaming was I'm glad its back to that difficulty. Hoping to get the second legendary set of solstice on my next character soon. Great work, keep it up!

Without the narrations, the redone missions seem empty and lose what made them feel epic in the first place. Add in the mountain of bad guys and what were fun missions are now a boring slog. It’s a shame.

13 RepliesThis event is terrible. Biggest let down of the game. You force us to wear this crap looking armor and grind for hours doing story missions with a ridiculous amount of enemies who have far too much health. I’m not a shit player but these missions are taking me over 45 min a piece. So what do we get from that grind? Blue armor. Oh and we have to do it ALL OVER AGAIN just to get the legendary armor set. I’m so irritated at this grind. Like I have never felt this irritated about destiny. Forced crucible has never been a community favorite so idk who keeps putting it in end game content. 30 super kills with no mayhem playlist? Great idea bungie! Let’s force our players to play 3+ hours of crucible just to maybe get the green armor done. This event is such a waste of our time and a total slap in the face to your player base. All of you who keep saying it’s free content and you’re happy about that need to check yourselves into a hospital because you’ve all had strokes. For recycled content and armor that we already had, some stupid ornaments, and 400 power armor that will be irrelevant in a month when forsaken comes out, it better be free! They literally removed all voices, cut scenes, and just made the missions too hard for you to complete alone. There was no extra effort put in for them to charge us for it! I’m all for difficulty and grinding but not so I can just turn around and do it all over again. I’m happy about an update but for someone who plays casually and a couple times a week, this event is a total bust. Do yourselves all a favor and vault the shit armor and keep doing milestones for gear you already have and wait for forsaken. This whole grind will be pointless in 30 days. This shit isn’t fun. Thanks for getting our hopes up just to take a huge dump on them bungie! We knew you would screw this up. And to all those who disagree, I don’t care about your opinions. I just wanted to rant and get it out. I feel like it needed to be said.

1 ReplyEdited by Lord_Shar: 8/1/2018 4:51:48 PMThis Solstice event is nothing but re-hashed maps to grind for armor that will be forgotten in one month. The new event ship is nice but requires maxing out event armor on all three classes -- to those that play only one or two character, this puts the ship well out of reach. Given the above, I'm ignoring Solstice outright -- it is just a big time sink to keep players busy and distracted while awaiting Forsaken. This plate of dog food is free, but it's still dog food. EDIT: Sorry to those who enjoy dog food.

2 RepliesIt just seems asinine to make such a grind for gear that will be obsolete in a month...

29 RepliesEdited by BoomboxCollosus: 7/27/2018 11:45:05 AMThe problem is that your content isn't worth the repetition. These mini game nonsense so-called raids aren't anything exciting or meaningful. I literally couldn't waste the time trying to beat the last one because I thought it was just plain stupid. First raid ever that I I am completely uninterested in beating. You can sticker slap difficulty levels and modifiers all you want on to these things but at this point all you're doing is repolishing the same turds. First time I didn't preorder a DLC as well, hopefully the reality check of this past year slapped some sense into you guys there at Bungie because pre-orders aren't going to save your ass this time. This one has to be real and has to deliver because the throttling and exploitation days are over for those of us paying attention. I'll see if this is just another hyped up disappointment cycle before I bother considering if I care to purchase this DLC . Quite frankly I think I may have hit Destiny burnout. I just show up here on occasion to look for signs of life But as time passes I think I care less every day

1 ReplyI really was looking forward to this event but you guys really screwed this up I understand that pvp and fireteam based missions are a part of the game and in my opinion every gamer should experience both at least once but to have almost no choice to solo or avoid pvp when there are lots of players who prefer to play solo or play pve only is ridiculous I have been a destiny 1 and 2 player from the beginning and have backed you guys through the little good and ALL the bad but i'm close to calling it quits i'm still willing to give Forsaken a try, though I hope it does not reflect the way you've done this event if so I'll be done

ty for making solo player harder then needs to be for gear i can get from other events :( what about your casual base of players . :(

2 RepliesDo I have to equip the shitty greens to progress?

10 RepliesThis event could have been great, but in my opinion it kinda failed. I was excited about playing old missions/story lines, until I found out it's only segments with no dialog or anything. Just a bunch of yellow bar mobs which, frankly, aren't hard to kill. I don't mind the grind part. What really annoyed me was the PvP requirements simply because I'm not a PvPer. Putting PvP requirements is silly for those who have zero interest in PvP. The reverse is also true for those who are not interested in PvE or don't get to do it. I mean to get masterwork you need to do a prestige Levi. There are a lot of people who don't even get to do a regular Levi, or have never done it simply because they are not interested in PvE/Raiding. People who are interested in PvP, play PvP. People who like PvE play PvE. It's not about experience all aspects of the game. Doing something you have no interest in can be off putting. I gave up on the armor because of the PvP requirements, I'm sure others feel the same way about the PvE requirements. I probably won't waste anymore time on this nonsense. Yes I won't get the armor and frankly I don't care, the same way I don't care that I don't get the Iron Banner armor or trials of the nine stuff.

3 RepliesEdited by Havok: 8/1/2018 10:27:29 AM30 super kills in crucible to complete an armour piece, but only 10 normal kills. Why? Should have been the other way round. To be honest I don’t really want to play the crappy PvP in this game. 90% Graviton Lance. Supers aren’t powerful. Constantly shot around corners (I have pretty good internet). Matchmaking is no better for me, in fact when I have lost I’ve had bigger margins than ever before (thrashings). Spawns are awful (killed by same super or spawn already being shot). Capturing a point, two guys spawn right behind me. Being put into games where my team is already being thrashed. Pvp is awful in this game.

As much as I want to unlock this gear the game doesn’t respect my time enough to want to stick around lately, the grind is far too slow and the RnG adds to this lack of respect for player time exponentially, I jumped on after 2-3 hours I just felt like I was doing a chore, not playing a game anymore. The fun is gone from the game, solo players get alienated and no one wants to “carry” someone through their first raid with all their ridiculous requirements. I’ve never seen a more exclusive up tight community in all my life, I’ve just jumped back into Warframe again after a 3 year hiatus and it’s just really exposed these things to me to the point they stand out like a sore thumb. Sorry guys, I think I’m finally burnt out, the game isn’t what I was promised/ expected it to be. The closest we got was Age of Triumph. I’m actually sad about it. :(

1 ReplyPlease stop forcing me into your crucible.
-
1 ReplyDo you need to complete all objectives on every piece of armour before you can upgrade it or can you do it a piece at a time?
-
You forgot to mention how you guys were gonna -blam!- up crucible. My supers are getting absorbed, my melees arent registaring, my bullets are getting absorbed, people are blinking, my teammates are braindead. Boy dmg you got any progress reports on that fix to the shit those monkeys -blam!-ed up in quickplay?
-
8 RepliesThis event sucks. It’s a bunch of stuff we’ve already done over and over again.
-
Yeah ,bungie is making the crucible freaking harder to get the super kills percentige done.Slow AF!Its just getting my nerve.
-
10 Replies30 super kills in crucible? Guys come the -blam!- on. You've got to have better awareness than this. I mean honestly are you aware of the state of your game and how your fanbase feels right now?? Crucible is a pile of shit nobody wants to play. So you make us get 30 -blam!-ing super kills??? Are you high????? Took the excitement for this event right out of my sails when I saw i had to get 30 -blam!-ing super kills in crucible. Dont mind the "forced" crucible, it is part of the game after all, but I dont want to spend a whole day grinding out crucible for something that's 90% a pve event. And 30 super kills for me is most of a day playing a game mode I hate. Other than that the event is awesome. Great job with the armor and the revamped missions are -blam!-in great.
-
Could you please extend the event I don’t have the time to do everything before the 28 it ends way too soon
-
If we actually got something new to do instead of reskinned armor, missions I'd actually enjoy this but, it's dull and tedious. Wow new emotes etc from Tess lol smdh......
-
I love that the engrams can be bought with dust now.
-
9 RepliesPlease explain. I have all of my armor pieces completed, but I cannot upgrade any where. Where and HOW do I upgrade my armor? Is it not available yet or is it bugged maybe?
-
Pvp super kill Bungie...you totally messed this event. I would like to know who the person working for u that actualy thought about this...wow...should get fired right away

Solstice... where we revisit memories of the past. More like, I dunno, Destiny Normal Mode? Seriously did anyone else think this is how the original campaign should have been in the first place? Yellow bars everywhere? Loads of Shank and Servitors everywhere? Meticulously placed enemies in the level that challenges how you proceed? The servitors were fxcking cool. I replayed 1AU last night and the shit where you are outside in the sun's heat and huge yellow bars dropping right up in your comfort zone while you're trying to get to safety? That shit was dope. But honestly? This should not have been the endgame of Solstice. If this game had launched with that kind of stuff, I would have loved the campaign a lot more. When I think Red Legion, I don't think of a bunch of dumbass legionaires standing around waiting for me to one shot them. One shotting shit and getting unlimited tanks just made stuff mind numbingly easy. I love having to rethink my footing and use my abilities and think about swapping weapons and stuff. Why was this not just the normal difficulty? Nevermind. I think I already know my answers.
