I've been seeing people talking about how great D1 was compared to D2, so I decided to go YouTube and look for some cutscenes to watch.
And damn! After seeing this video, I was thinking what am I missing? The dialogues had so much more oomph and soul in them than now. The cutscenes had a more cinematic feel and overall it felt more immersive.
And yeah, I didn't play D1 because I don't own a console, and have been a PC gamer all this time so yeah, that's what I've been missing out on.
Oh wells...

Don't be fooled by nostalgia, D1 had it's own share of problems. People might say it's better but from day 1 to dust it was far from ever being perfect. Only after the final DLC did D1 hit a point of being really great. Don't get me wrong, I've always liked Destiny, but I find it ridiculous how everyone's looking back with fondness when they were ranting and complaining at the time.

The dialogue was a little more serious, and Bungie actually shelled out money for voice actors so our guardian could talk. But there are still many things left completely unexplained. To this day, we still have no idea why the Stranger sent us on that quest in the first place. The best cutscenes in the entire franchise, by far, are the Taken King cinematics. It was the only time that anything relevant actually happened in Destiny's story.

3 RepliesMeh, to me cutscenes in D1 were still as cringy and unclear as D2’s
