What do you mean it won’t let you update? Is it not showing as an update in your games/app section?

It just keeps going back to Xbox home and saying "destiny 2 needs an update"

Ok. Then do what I suggested & see if that helps

I'm on the destiny 2 load screen and it now says Transferring game content... its at 79% and has been for the last hour now

Ok. I suggest canceling the download, clearing console cache, then retrying the install.
