Power Weapon slot? More like Rocket Launcher slot.

What's the point of having this selection of power weapons when the rocket launcher is the ultimate choice? Grenade launchers, shotguns, snipers, fusions and linear fusions, none of them are as effective in either PvP or PvE. Rocket launchers out-range them all, out-dps them all, out-blast-radius them all. It's a no-brainer.

  • I honestly think there is a good option for everything but it's definitely biased towards rockets. Linear fusions need the most love closely followed by snipers and grenade lauchers. ( excluding the Colony ). Swords are borderline OP in the right hands because of the sheer kill count potential. Shotguns are OHK at very close range, which used to be ok when they were in the secondary slot. But I honestly think in the new ecosystem of team hand holding and antiopes/ last hopes...they need a greater range of OHK potential. And faster handling/ ADS speeds. Fusion rifles are pretty good, well the higher impact types anyway. The Main ingredient is perfect in my opinion, but they need to buff the lower impact archetypes to give them a reason to be used. I propose they speed up the charge rate and make them full auto for repeated blasts, because most of those lower impact fusions need a follow up shot to kill a gaurdian at anything outside of shotgun distance. Grenade launchers need to go 2 ways, significantly buff the AOE radius for some archetypes and buff the velocity and impact damage for the others. Some should basically be shotguns with an explosive payload and small blast radius. And the others should be like mini rocket launchers with lower damage but higher ammo count and faster ROF than rocket launchers. Linear fusion rifles could go a couple of ways. Remove the charge time completely and just make them a straight up sniper varient. Increase the charge time and make them a OHK to the body over any distance. Snipers need to receive less flinch when ADS. Faster handling and ADS speeds would help too. I also think they should consider allowing snipers to shoot through light cover for added opportunities and incentives to use them. Of course these are just some of my ideas and there's bound to be finer points I've missed but in general these changes would freshen up the power game for me.

    • Oh let's see: The Colony Legend of Acrius Telesto (the best-o) The Prospector and Merciless will both out-DPS your RL in PvE In pvp you can consistently get more kills from a shotgun, grenade launcher, or fusion rifle than you can a rocket launcher.

      • I havent even barely tried snipers, shotguns, fusions and such - BUT with Required Loadouts coming for Raids - it looks like Bungie found a way to force us to use them.

          The problem with this post is that Bungie will read it as Nerf rocket launcher. This is the ultimate problem with the game you have people like you who can't keep their mouth shut. And will always cry. Just leave it alone guys. You wrecked this game enough. Let rockets be.

          • Destiny 1 I used such a verity of weapons, fusion rifles and snipers were a favourite of mine in the special slot. Come D2 and I only use two weapons at the most. My kinetic Nameless Midnight and then whatever rocket launcher I have on me. The secondary slot is never used. I feel like I've gone from having so much choice to practically none at all.

          • Swords are fun... But I agree, the masses will most often choose Rockets for the easy kill (PvP) or massive damage (PvE) Other weapons, although fun, don't always seem as handy when you just want to lob a high explosive warhead...

            • D2 is an amateurish mess. Devs of this garbage have not idea what they are doing, and obviously do not care. D2 is not a real product of development. Fake sequel based on D1 assets.Look at planets, they are sparrow racing levels planed for D1 dlc, adopted as gameplay areas.

            • Bump and agreed! I only see rocket launchers in PVE, personally merciless on dogs and baths. The rest suck ass in pve - Bump ammo for these weapons and we would actually use them - I want to use perfect paradox!!! PVP swords rack up kills - but colony takes 2 shots to kill, you get 4 shots total so it's luck if you get a double kill, rockets with cluster bombs almost always grants a double kill these days since team shooters stick together. Shotgun, fusion and sniper... sheeeit - haven't seen them in ages.... I wish they would make a game mode that cut out RL, the colony and swords. FFS - how hard would that be? Have an IB that is sidearms, pulse rifles and fusion rifle only!?! Make everyone use these least used classes (I know the last word is used a lot but the rest are shit...)

              • I love sniping because it requires finesse but it seems like every game I get in to has a 4 man squad of sins of the past or the colony. They make PvP boring with these brain dead weapons.

                • Funnily enough, Rockets are the one power weapon I never use: Swords for solo Story/Adventure/Lost Sector play, since enemies often rush and Swords have enough ammo to take out several Majors - plus the drop rate for ammo is higher than when running Rockets. For general PvE play, I run Shotguns and Grenade Launchers (they're like Shotguns, but ranged!) for my Titan, Snipers and Linear Fusions for my Hunter, Fusions for my Warlock. All five (six, counting swords) will kill most Majors in 1 hit, and anything they won't kill isn't likely to die from a single rocket either, so it's a simple matter of ammo conservation and follow-up attacks. Same strat I used in D1. Rockets may be OP (in fact, they're literally overpowered for handling most situations), but they're not that fun and are IMO a waste of the heavy slot.

                  • Snipers need a serious damage buff and minor recoil nerf. Both categories of fusion rifle need a damage buff. Shoguns need a minor range boost. Grenade launchers need to be buffed period. Also having launchers with 2 shot mags back would be nice.

                  • Snipers: Effectively killed simply by PvP changes. A heavy is supposed to do extensive damage and I can shoot somebody with a sniper and somehow they still live. UNACCEPTABLE!!! Shotguns: I can manage but it's in a poor spot. The purpose of a shotgun is to engage in CQC and it's annoying when it takes 3s to bring it out when the enemy is in danger close range. Plus being in the heavy slot, this thing either needs to be an OHKO or have an assload of clips. Fusions: What's sad is I rarely use fusions. D1, I'd use like crazy. It doesn't work in D2 because fusions are more like the middle ground between a shotgun and a sniper. Enemies are not going to stay in that area for long. Linear fusions are MUCH worse! Takes 3s to summon then 5-7s to even fire giving a total of 10s max, if not more, to even use a fusion in the game. Grenade launchers: I find them ok but I have said if they don't OHKO or do massive damage, it's worthless. D1, machine guns, swords, and rockets (along with Sleeper simulant) were heavy class worthy because machine guns provided suppression and could do much more damage than the grenade launcher and still have ammunition in the mag. Rockets do not need explanation. Swords are EASILY a better choice than shotguns for various reasons. D2 is just a disgrace and Luke Smith should be ashamed for prioritizing PvP over PvE.
