Flashbacks to the days of thorn and the final sniper bullet in a mag that one hit you anywhere. (Make it stop, the memories are too hard to bear. The Thorn, final bullet, even mida which still haunts me to this day, make the voices stop)
-
No. But I can’t remember being 40 either.

1 ReplyDidn't know the game could play itself and kill opponents without the player using the controller... interesting.
Does anyone remember when crucible took skill not just a gun?
You obviously don't. D1 nor D2 have ever been "skill" based. With no means of MM filtering out people of their "skill", it was never about it. All the past D1 Crucible threads were about "WAHHHHH! I GOT KILLED BY HIS GUN. NERF IT!" "WAHHHHHH! THEIR SUPER IS TOO OP. NERF IT." Then you have everyone using the same 3 guns, all the time. And the piece de resistance - it's still a host based game where the host will always have an incredible advantage. IN 2018!!!!!!!!!!!! Destiny Crucible is about anything, but skill.
-
D1 was never a skill based shooter. D2 is far more of one than D1. Any one who thinks otherwise is just warping their memory to fit what they want to believe.
-
4 RepliesI loved D1 PvP but I will say that the 1 shot grenades were completely asinine and needed to be throttled back. I can’t even tell you how many times I would get someone to within an inch of their life only to have a grenade attached to me from a batshit angle and kill me . That didn’t take any skill to do but happen very often .
-
You mean the d1 auto aim quick scope sniper? Or the fire and forget rocket launch tracking missile? Or the cross map hand cannon? Or the cross map aim in any direction shotgun? Yeah lots of skill there. But it was a hell of a lot more fun than this current state of shit. Even with lagging -blam!-s it was at least enjoyable.

3 RepliesEvery FPS player thinks that their way of playing takes skill, and everyone else's doesn't. This place has been screaming about "crutch" weapons and "crutch" abilities for three years. Well....now we have a Crucible that is so neutered and so bland that the only way to reliably win is to hold hands and camp. Or hold hands and roll around the map in a 4-man death ball. Congratulations. When the gods wish to punish us the give us what we pray for.

Remember it’s Bath night & early to bed now Timmy!

No, there's always been a gun that's almost broken in PvP. Suros Regime, Thorn, Icebreaker, Hawkmoon, Chaperone, etc.
-
Nope lol, you must be from the Cloverfield Paradox.
-
Yeah every gun is a laser rifle like stability was always just a number.
-
there was never any skill in pvp just the meta. D1 was snipers and D2 is sword melee (mightve changed now)
-
3 RepliesNEVER in D1 was "skill" a thing. Ppl cried to the heavens that D1 was ability spam OHK OP garbage. So Bungie gave us D2.. and I remember during the Beta how everyone LOVED the new D2 Crucible as it would take "skill" now. True story. So let me ask you.. what took more "skill"? D1 or D2 Crucible and why. Much better question.

-
WOW, that's contradictory.
-
You mean when everyone ran around with sniper ammo and high ass aim assist.
-
No. Because that simply has never been the case. This is a looter game so outcomes have always been a mix of powerful guns + player skill. GOOD guns can make average players perform at an above average level, and good guns in the hands of a GREAT player can be unstoppable. And that is the issue. People kept complaining that they want purely skill-based outcomes in what is a LOOTER game. If you want purely skill based outcomes, go to Halo where every BR is like everyone elses, there's no variation in aim assist or player abilities or movement speed, etc. Looter games are just not designed to give you purely skill-based outcomes. And that is ALSO why there should not be competitive PVP and modes like Trials in Destiny. It deceives people into thinking that these modes should be determined by skill alone, and that is what leads people to complain about "crutch" weapons. It is what drives the nerf cycle and its what is behind the move to the dual primary system (since special weapons were seen as "crutch"). IMO, that is why having a ranked PVP system send the wrong message about this game. Because if you understand that this game is NOT just about skill but is also about loot, then it makes no sense to have a ranking system that supposedly assesses skill rating. Loot is factoring into that rating whether you want to admit it or not.

Uh what's that now? I remember hearing the exaxct opposite in D1.
-
1 ReplyYes. I loved using fusion grenades in D1. I had a lot of skill.
-
No. Its always been about a certain gun setup. The only skill is Wits.
-
Yeah like when you could throw a stickie nade and kill someone. Or blink strike / shotgun Or Thorn Or Vex
-
Yea it never took just one gun. Well except vex mythoclast obviously. Oh wait and Suros Regime. And there were those pesky hand cannons, the Last Word and Thorn but that was it. Oh my bad and Icebreaker. Also Shadow Prince and Nirwens Mercy and Hawksaw and Mida.... The game never really was a super skillful one but hey, those were are fun guns and isn’t that what matters more than skill?
-
I do when I play D1 crucible.
-
2 RepliesI don't think even Pepperidge Farm remembers because it never really took any skills to begin with. D1 involved shotguns and snipers and in some cases fusions and grenades. D2 is teamshooting or meta based weapons.
