Nothing wrong with the Eververse or the Dawning

Bungie don’t listen. Everybody stop whining. Everything in the Eververse and the Dawning is ornamental. Nothing gives you a competitive advantage. If you want the Dawning gear you have to spend bright dust or silver ($$$) if you want a full set that’s the deal. Else just take it for the drops and move on. This is the exact stuff Bungie should be able to sell if it wants to. Either you spend the cash or you don’t. If you don’t want the gear don’t buy it, no need to revolt. Just don’t buy it. That is how you make you voice heard. Just stop the bitching. ***EDIT*** All, I have expounded on my thoughts here if you care to read. I learned a lot from this discussion. Thank you! True, but look at the rubbish that’s available to us as end-game rewards whether it be merely cosmetic or advantageous. Can you honestly say that there is any good loot in this game? I think not. Gone are the god rolls on weapons that suited your play style. Gone are the OP strike/raid specific weapons that made your next time round repeating the event more enjoyable. Gone are the replayable missions and the hidden exotic quests that required a fire team of 3 to complete. Gone are hidden ghosts that unlocked the lore some of us avid readers were keen to explore. Gone are the exciting game 6v6 game modes in PvP that incited more mayhem than strategy. Gone are the kiosks that held onto your collection of exotics and shaders. Gone are the shaders. Gone are the challenge books that gave you loads to get on with and rewarded you for actually playing the game. Gone is the subclass customisation tree allowing you to fully tweak your guardians abilities to suit your play-style. Gone is the jump in/out PvE game modes that gave you waves of enemies to kill as a fireteam for good rewards (PoE). Gone are the bounties that asked you to do stuff. Gone are the exotic bounties that game with them. Gone is the reputation system that was better than this token system. Gone is the ‘other stuff’ that Xur used to sell. Gone is the perfect and previously unbroken weapon slots of ‘Primary’, ‘Special’ and ‘Heavy’ slots. Gone are the rocket launchers that held two rounds... I’m tired. I could go ON AND ON AND ON THIS GAME IS ABSOLUTELY GANG BOOTED UP ITS BACKSIDE BY GREEDY LAZY FOOLS.

          • Look RhinstoneCowboy we know the armour is cosmetic, but whether bungie like it or not Destiny and Destiny 2 are a MMO type game. In MMO type games armour or anything that may or may not enhance your gameplay should not be locked behind a pay wall, it should be grinded for. Stuff like sparrows and ships although pointless from a gaming stand point are something that people still want, so Bungie rather than making those players play THE DAMN GAME to earn those ships and sparrows they place them behind a pay wall. You sir may have a lot of money to spend on video games but other people don't and there might be something that they like but is placed behind eververse. You sir are the reason micro transactions are the norm in video games now

              • ...and this is why we get shit games focusing more on microtransactions than actual content... Consider though, that in a game where armor is almost completely cosmetic and reskinned in many cases, hiding an actual new set of armor behind a paywall pisses people off, especially when it is very difficult to actually get the full set, and is only available for a limited time.

                • Honestly, if you could just outright buy everything with silver you pay for, and the engrams you got from leveling were random, I wouldn’t really mind. It’s the RNG factor specifically designed to get people addicted, and to spend more money. It also doesn’t help that the only source of sparrows, most shaders, ships, and other rewards are locked behind this RNG paywall whereas in D1 most of these were able to be earned as in-game rewards. Finally, the biggest kicker for me, and maybe many others, is that the “events” that are supposed to be funded by micro transactions were solely focused on selling people more micro transactions. In D1, the dawning brought with it strike scoring, SRL, and the micro-transactions weren’t as...oppressive as they are now. This year we got!...micro transactions...and!...snowballs...that’s it. It really showed me where bungie, and activision’s heads are at.

                  • Rhinstone Cowboy, the problem is this game is a looter shooter. You kill stuff you get guns, gear, etc. We paid $20 for CoO and 75% of the stuff added in the expansion was being sold by Eververse. We used to get sparrows and ships for doing specific stuff in D1, i.e. Raids, now I've don't. Now there behind Eververse. Plus greedy Bungie doubled the xp necessary to get a engram from 80k to 160k, why? Because they want people to break down and buy them. I used to get at least three engrams per character a week and now I'm lucky to get one to two. Bungie has made the game about how much money can we get from the causal and hardcore player and not about the game. To each there own, I say if your enjoying the game continue to play and if your not happy just uninstall the game and don't play it. Bungie will see the numbers and hopefully listen before it's too late. There plenty wrong with D2 and it starts with a greed, sorry Bungie.

                    • I agree man. I think they could have added more ways to get dawning engrams throughout the week but it’s side cosmetic optional stuff. A lot of people don’t comprehend how different game development is. Back when I was a kid you bought a game for 50-60 and that’s all you got. If it was bugged or limited, you were stuck with it. Nowadays, especially with games like destiny, teams are working constantly to push updates and content. This stuff costs money and manpower and people expect it to be handed to them for free (entitlement generation). I. Order to get better content and content more often with regular updates, money needs to be coming in. This is how companies do it now. bungie actually does this better then most in that this ever verse stuff is cosmetic and doesn’t influence the gameplay. You can still do all the elements of the game and reach max level without spending a penny. I’m the cloak away from a full dawning set for my hunter and didn’t pay a dime. With all the bright engrams since launch, the dismantling of ghosts sparrows and ships since launch has stock piled bright dust. Also, the EV will drop bright dust in large amounts with bright engrams periodically. I have everything except the cloak and still have 3000+ bright dust. People complaint are impatient children who have terrible impulse control. Play th game, grind, and you’ll get what you want.

                      • Ugh. You don’t get it. It’s about a freemium pay model being added into a $60 title that also has dlc. You pay $60 then are strong armed into buying the dlc (locking players out of content) then there’s mtx with random loot boxes on top. There’s no need for that bs. It’s bungivision just being greedy. There is no reason to have lootboxes and mtx in AAA titles that cost money. On top of all that bungie put in a secret system to try and entice players to spend money.

                        • Well said...everyone is afraid of the grind and thinking out of the box to acquire items from Eververse. They just want everything handed to them with max light/power and they can't thus why the salt appeared.

This game is slowly turning itself to P2W and no one is allowed to complain? I never thought our community can be this cancerous. And this cancer is from you guys not the ones shouting out there...

                                  • To get straight to the point, if you have bought the game and the season pass, then you have already paid for that content. It should then only be able to be acquired by gameplay. Why should anyone pay for something and then have to pay again for what they have already paid for? You have to look at the big picture.

I think the issue is that they are spending time and resources to make gear to sell (or collect slowly by leveling) in the loot boxes. If they made quests, special strikes or adventures that rewarded this gear then I’m sure people wouldn’t mind. If it had to be something to work for, then all Bungie would need is to up the difficulty. That’s my only issue. Edit: my apologies I meant gear not weapons. I fixed it
