Prometheus lens is completely broken in PVP.
It has high range, virtually no damage falloff, a damage over time burn effect, and it has the lowest time to kill in the game by about half right now. It's 100% broken. Even more then the vex mythoclast was pre nerf in destiny 1. Did they even playtest this? Its like having constant heavy ammo.
Update: Deej tweeted out that the gun shipped with a bug and will be fixed. All of you defending it or downplaying its power are unsurprisingly wrong.
Update 2: Xur is selling it. Guns still broken and needs to be fixed but at least now PVP will be an even playing field until they do.

Dear god the level of ignorance here. The gun kills in under 0.4 seconds, the closest thing in the game to that is the last hopes 0.7 seconds, and the last hope is only useful at about 15 feet. This gun can cross map and beat out scout rifles and maintain the 0.4 second time to kill. There is no defense against this gun in PVP, it isn't a debate, that's just a fact. It is, without a doubt, broken.

No matter what happens it will be very interesting to watch this play out. Kinda wish I had one. I kinda wanna tick peeps off with a sun laser gun. I do see a nerf on the horizon, which is unfortunate because if energy weapons we're stronger, kind of like this gun is, but maybe toned down a bit, the weapon system might not feel so boring.

They better leave it for a couple of weeks. I'm glad because I have it 😂, however it's been the most fun I've had in a while, also if I see one on another team I 100% know a we ran out of medals is out of the question 😂... getting shot at by 2 is the absolute pits

It had cross-map range, laser stability, and ridiculous headshot damage, a 3 hit kill to the head I believe, plus an atrociously large magazine. And the flinch... Vex edges put Prometheus because of the aim assist. Vex may not technically kill as fast, but it was REALLY easy to land consecutive headshots. Prometheus Lense requires you to keep the laser on the target with little to no aim assistance. Also, I’ve seen many plays where the Prometheus Lense user gets juked and dies. Because of the lack of aim assist, it’s very difficult to play against, say, a blinking warlock. ~rant end~

2 RepliesDisclaimer: I don't yet own the weapon so I don't have a feel for the amount of skill needed to use it proficiently. But...perhaps this is Bungie's way of showing why they have not included OP weapons as endgame rewards. Sounds they they have something pretty cool and powerful here, and the screams and cries for its immediate NERF are everywhere. Perhaps this is why we can't have nice things....

How do all these pve players enjoy playing the same dull content? Whining about PvP players. It took you 17 hours to do the raid 4 months into the game and you're happy there's something good to help make it take 14 hours. Pve isn't hard. Everything would be easier in the game if you didn't suck. The guns broken af but you wouldn't know that bc you don't play PvP.
