• Personally, I liked the Blog Update. It's a step into the right direction, both Update wise and Communication wise. Combined with the other stuff that arrives on December 5th, it looks like a promising update. I keep my expectations low however, so I can enjoy it all a bit more.

I am just amazed that Luke Smith is still there running the show. His vision for this game has proven to be the focus of a lot of the outrage here, and yet now we expect him to swoop in and save the day? Yeah...no. Sorry, I have moved on at this point. Just in the forums now to enjoy the dumpster fire that remains.

    • It's a small step in the right direction but a single random perk isn't the awesome rng perk system from D1 that we were asking for in D2. Also didn't say if there's going to be more variety in crucible mode types, but with the addition of custom matches, I hope there are. To be honest, I'm still going to buy and return to play the DLC, but I doubt the changes they're making are going to fix the end game issues, so I'll probably just play through all the content once and then move on to something else. I'm rooting for Bungie to fix D2, but I'm not holding my breath.

Honestly, as I have stated in many posts in the past, I really enjoy the game. But understand, I have learned to enjoy it for what it is. It is severely flawed, and I have fun for the small amount of time I get on. In the last three weeks to a month, I think I've logged on once, maybe twice. I have no clue how many hours I have put into both D1 and D2. I got D1 when it first came out, but never got around to playing it. I moved a couple times and around the time The Taken King was announced is when I had found my copy and started playing, so i can't say I've been around since the "beginning." I really enjoyed D1 and all it had to offer in Y3. My cousin got me into D2 and I was somewhat excited. After playing through the story on all three characters and playing through what other content there is, I can now say D2 just feels empty. Like I said, I enjoy it for what it is, but I'm not going to give my hopes up for future plans. Reading the blog yesterday, I actually was happy to see they are addressing the duplicate issue with exotics. That is really the only thing that stood out to me. I mean yes, obviously it's a step in the right direction, however, I think there are more important things Bungie could/should be focusing on at the moment. I get that the forum doesn't count for ALL of D2's player base, but it does contain a good portion of people who really, really are passionate about the game and I think it would do Bungie good to acknowledge. The blog post is a start. Now, let's hope it keeps going uphill from here. As I said before, I am not going to give my hopes up, but it would be nice to see them progress with D2 rather than regress. I consider myself a casual player (in the fact that I don't play very competitively because I am not very good at PvP and that I don't do raids much because I am either not on as much, or don't have others to raid with) and even I feel that D2 is already stale and has a lot of issues that need to be addressed sooner rather than later.

      • I think the PvP issues are gonna require a lot more effort To fix. Except the lag cheating everyone refuses to accept is really going on. Mostly, I can't believe that BUNGIE really believed that garbage they put out at launch was really going to make people happy. There is a serious disconnect with upper management and what the players want. They are so worried about selling bright engrams and missed out on making more money on just selling emotes, bright dust crap (whatever it's called), glimmer packages (I know a ton of people who would by them), and shards (once you make them use full again). Oh and none duplicate exotics for sale would've been huge. Just my 2 cents.

PvP issues Pve issues Ability cooldown Ttk
As mentioned in the blog post, they'll address more details with the Dec 5 patch notes, which will likely include info about PvP and ability cooldowns. Whatever else people want to hear about, you gotta understand that not everything can be addressed all at once. It's a lot of things people want to hear about and they all take time. Some of those issues people harp on are flat out unreasonable to begin with, so at least give Bungie a chance to do SOMETHING first before demanding answers to EVERYTHING you all can think of. Rome wasn't built in a day...

        • Adding ability spam back into crucible will only snowball into pulse bases every 25 seconds. I personally play exclusively for the pvp at this point and the one ability use maybe 2 a round in trials is great. No random nades or that shit to deal with anymore

        • I don't really see how this is a step in the right direction. They stated that they will be more transparent and communicate more yet I doubt they will. When they talked about snowball fights as being the big holiday draw combined with double XP when playing with a clan member that was quite the "snow job". The interviewers were cheering so loudly you could hardly hear what was being said next. Unless I'm launching snowball via Gjallahorn I don't see how those are cheer worthy things. They have a plan in place for the next year and will not deviate much from that plan. Most people already prepaid for the season pass so why would they care at all? Again, this is a snow job. They brag about double XP then admit after the fact how terrible they feel about messing up the XP system and having a secret nerf in place. Then get busted for doubling the XP requirements but let that drop without a response. Remember how we were told about the nearly incalculably huge amount of content they already had prepared and were having such a tough time figuring out how to break it all up? This is just another in an endless series of half truths we are being spoon fed. It's sad really because it's such a fun game there never has been a reason to be so false in their claims.

        • Definitely a step in a positive direction but it still amazes me how little the changes actually do anything to correct the problems. Not many people are asking for more items or screen fillers. Players are asking for variety and things to do with the items. The stat rolls that were added to weapons don’t change the issues with the weapons or the still-lacking mod system. I just don’t get what they are thinking. I’m glad they are finally saying something, but it’s not enough yet. The gamerunners or Bungie or Activision or somebody is just too stubborn to fix the game. If they hadn’t had 3+ years of Destiny to look at already, I could let it go more and say good job, but D2 just didn’t build on anything from those 3 years. There was reverse evolution. Very odd choices.

        • My biggest complaint still is, there is no grind. And they are giving me a way to buy gear with leg shards and a way to get exotics that I dont have. I have 3000 leg shards saved up, I could probably buy all the best stuff the first hour dlc drops.

I’m personally ok with the blog post since I saw D1 for what it was a lot earlier than most. It really wasn’t as consistently great as a lot of You trumpeted it was and only really got to a solid state after the release of the taken king. I would suggest also listening to the podcast. It puts a lot of things in context and what I get out of this whole experience of is a lot of mistakes were made either forced or volunteered and the way you have to control messages and release of information is while kinda dumb at times is the way you have to do it in the corporate climate. Especially when you ultimately answer to a much larger revenue stream the the player base can possible compare to, stockholders who are rarely interested in anything more than how much money they can make. It’s business. It’s pretty universal no matter what industry. What you do for a hobby. The creators do for work. Which while passion would be there, anything will become a task after a while. I reserve the right to just absorb media how I choose to and I hope everyone comes to some point where they find some contentment either here or elsewhere. And I also hope the game I invested 3 years in and the company that I rooted for since the early 2000s where you had to pack up your tv, console, and a long enough lan cable to play Halo multiplayer in 2 separate rooms. I’m old enough to have been an adult for most of Bungie’s creation period so I’ve seen a lot of things change in the industry. Games too. Change is inevitable.

          • Bungie took a step in the right direction however it’s just one step in a trek of over a million steps to go and I would say they are doing it without a map and compass. Most things addressed when looked at from a distance suspiciously sound like bungie built a game for casual players in mind, that would be more enjoyable to watch on twitch Vice play, and took many of the community’s problems from D1 and put them in but more as a Fxck you (ie Raid guided games: the community wanted match making for the raid in D1 and bungie halted that idea saying the raid would be too hard even though LFG randoms were completing it. So bungie made a semi matching making for the raid but developed the raid in such a way unlike the others where team work is absolutely vital) D2 obviously should have just been an expansion of D1 however to make good on their contract commitments to Activision the created a separate game, chopped it up, and are distributing parts as dlc. I would bet money that the new system for weapon rolls was already in place however they took it out so that they could add it later to the dlc to justify the dlc as adding content. It will be interesting to see where we are in 6 months to a year.

          • I'm gonna ride out this expansion and see where it goes; if it's positive and I actually see confirmed changes that I want and real reasons to play I'll stay but if not deuces. I just want my fun back. Yeah the game is alright when you have you fireteam with you but after awhile the "man I wish they did this or why did they take that out?" Conversation comes up. 6v6 8v8 More PvP playlist Options to choose what playlist I want. Adept crucible gear won in ranked playlist. The addition of Raid lairs are cool and all but that should've just been something unlocked everytime you complete the Raid. D1 Loot why bring back some and not others. Xur should have nothing but D1 Exotics and unique legendaries in his inventory until he has sold everything and during the week we are grind for the New D2 loot. Well that means the D2 loot is exciting and worth it. There should be Exotics and unique legendaries specific to each location and activities. Why aren't there more exotic Enemy Themed weapons and Gear? Faction Rallies, Iron Banner, and Trials these events should've never had the whole loot table in the Engrams when you level up. Again Include D1 loot to the pool to the respected event/faction. Why aren't there exotics tied to these events that change everytime it comes around. Shouldn't they even have a story aspect to thedm to add to the lore? Why do I have to rely on YouTubers to get lore? Well it seems like I just want D1 back but if I got the sequel to something shouldn't be better then the original shouldn't it have aspects from the first game but polished and revamped not less content or watered down versions of previous iterations? I just want Fun and Depth. Cool guns and fun activities in which I shoot my cool guns. Between this expansion and the next they should seriously release a massive free update improving various things and releasing plenty of content.

            • My opinion is that there is VERY LITTLE Bungie can/will do to make any significant changes to the core mechanics of this sequel. The season pass is paid for so I'll continue to play through the next two DLCs. After that, who knows.?? At least now it's forcing me to get more of my $$ worth out of Netflix, Amazon Instant, HBO Go, etc., between content drops so it's not all bad.

            • I'm cautiously optimistic about the blog post .... but I still have hesitation to pull the trigger on the expansions so far. They are addressing only a few of the core issues, but things like selecting play type in the Crucible, 6v6 modes, selecting story missions to play when you want to play them, addressing snipers and shotties position in the current weapons schema .... still lots of big issues at play that weren't even touched on. The issues they did touch on, are a bit vague or misleading at times (Masterworks, what it does and how it works ... and grinding for that perfect weapon). We'll need to see how this is fully implemented in the game and the real impact / value it has. Again, I'm very cautious here ... there was a lot of text, a lot of fluff, and a lot of missed core issues / opportunities. We'll see ....
