So I’m seeing a lot of misinformed opinionated posts about the news. For those who do not know what I’m referring to: the bungie livestream for curse of Osiris today was cancelled. Instead bungie will be making a large blog post on their website/app.
So you are all entitled to your own opinions on the matter. However, I feel it’s important you guys understand what’s happening. Today was going to be another typical livestream showing off some armor and weapons and new changes. Lately though public discontent with the state of destiny 2 is at an all time high. Many complaints about the game are surfacing. So instead of the fashion show bungie will be posting a blog post in direct response to the communities feedback.
Now the point I want to make is that many people are upset and making claims about bungie that simply aren’t true. The number of posts and youtube videos that claim bungie isn’t listening or bungie is lying is staggering. This is what this cancellation is about. Instead of ignoring complaints and continuing full steam ahead with their livestream bungie is taking the time to address these issues. They know there is problems and taking action to open a dialogue with the community about these problems.
I for one believe this is fantastic. I love destiny and will always stand by bungie but even I can admit there are problems. However, I believe this is a very positive step in fixing these issues. So before you complain and rage, take the time to look at this blog. The studio is reaching out to you telling you they messed up and they want to make it right. These people poured their hearts into this game and they want it to be better just as much as you do.
Lastly for all the people upset about the xp debacle. You have every right to be upset. In the midst of all the scandal with micro transactions this was not a pleasant discovery. But if you come out and make hateful comments about how bungie is full of liars and thieves, then you are simply wrong. Bungie immediately reacted, clearly confirming that this was indeed happening and taking steps to improve it. They never hid it from you, and they immediately took the blame. It shows me this company is dedicated to righting those wrongs that are out there. So please keep the door open with bungie and keep the feedback constructive. Bungie is doing their part it’s time for the community to do theirs.
TL:DR - the livestream was cancelled for a blog post where bungie is going to address all the problems with the game. Give it a read and make your judgements then. Let’s make community feedback constructive to support a company that is genuinely trying to make things better.

Then they say they are going to stop throttling the xp, which they did, but they conveniently left out the part about doubling the required xp. We then had to ask them about it to, backed up by proof, before getting confirmation, that yes, they did once again lie to us. A second note on this is that, actually, they are thieves, because people paid real money for xp boosters. If people knew that that boosted xp was going to be throttled, they probably wouldnt have bought it, I def wouldnt have wasted bright dust on medallions, thats for damn sure. The internet reaction to this whole thing is just as volatile as it should be, and is completely justified.

If these words came from an actual Bungie employee, it might give them some weight. As is, this post is pure conjecture.
-
Let's put Luke Smith and developers on the hot seat and have them actually address the community. No deej no talking heads that hardly play the game. The real people behind it would be interesting.
-
Exactly well said and what time are they posting info and where?

Get of bungies D. You’re pretty embarrassing. They have had ages to address the issues. Issues they did completely ignore until the PC version came out. Once they had 3 platforms money then they started to admit their games blatant flaws would need sorting. And they haven’t fixed the XP at all. Unless you call having to earn twice as much per engram fixed that is. The only reason that change was even made was because they got caught. So yeah. They are liars.

I believe it would be best if Bungie delay the Curse of Osiris DLC till they can get it right. I rather have a great experience than to have an inferior product.
-
1 ReplyIs it honest if someone only does something and addresses an issue when people find out? Is it honest to let it happen for months in silence? Hm?
-
Your deluded pal. These issues should have been addressed or at least responded to ages ago.Instead they ignored everyone, they let people get more and more frustrated and now it's a mess. Stop kissing their ass and admit they let this go too far.
bungie is going to address all the problems with the game.
Good luck with that. Dreamers, They never learn . . . . . https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BOwPx5nl76Q

If we do not remember the past, we are doomed to repeat it. Never was a saying more suitable than this one right now. Think it through

3 RepliesHow do you know what you he blog will address? ... and can you link us to the post/site/article/stream where they stated they messed up? All I’ve seen is the “we’re not happy with the results” post which wasn’t provided until after it was exposed on Reddit. Hardly a “we messed up” statement, especially when the fix doubled the xp needed to level up. Sorry, but your post is simply asinine, and every bit as premature as the “thieves” comments you’re calling out. At least they have a longer string of missteps to base their outrage on. #twotokensandablue

Great that you are defending them and everything, but how honest do you think they will be with the community? They haven't addressed many issues over the years and tend to ignore a lot. I'm curious to see how transparent they will actually be with this blog thing.
-
1 ReplyWhere did they say they were cancelling the live stream and what did they say the blog post would entail? Direct link or quote would be nice
-
2 RepliesWhat they’re doing is damage control after 3+ years of poor communication. Most developers are very candid and forthcoming with their plans and actually respond to feedback in a timely manner. You look at games like Warframe and they have 100 times the communication with their community, and very prompt and numerous fixes and updates. It gives gamers the feeling that a) the Devs actually care, b) the players are not left in the dark, and c) the players know where the game is going and why. Bungie got caught with their pants down. They’re not doing it because they care - if they did, we wouldn’t be here. It’s a PR stunt. They will not change their game management style. They might actually do some nice fixes to the game, but when the next community outcry happens we will be right here again. Because they don’t communicate in an effective manner and don’t implement changes/fixes in a timely manner.
-
And you know all of this because how? You've been sitting in at meetings at Bungie HQ and are included in a bunch of email chains with those who work at Bungie creating D2? This is all highly speculative but it's nothing but guesses.

I wish I could agree with you 100%...I wish I could do that. But I can't. The general idea you have isn't all wrong: Bungie has realized there is a community relations issue at hand, and they are taking a step to address it. Assuming this is out of a genuine concern for the community isn't a good way to go. They have seen significant push-back to the model, choices, and ideas that they put forward from a large enough portion of the potential player base that they feel they need a talking point. On top of that, my old bosses at EA are eating a steaming pile of roast crow over the Star Wars disaster, and that might have been a larger motivating factor for doing this. It has been suggested that the DLC should be delayed, and the core issues addressed by Aztecross and others. This may be part of what we see today, and if we do, it's 100% good for us. It puts the player experience ahead of money making, and i think we need a little of that right now. I think Bungie is in a crappy position (granted, they -chose- to be in it...). I think they have us slapping them from the front for the things they have done that we don't like. and i think they have Activision whipping them from behind, trying to force them to push forward...into us slapping them. I sincerely hope they are going to address the real, core issues at hand, both with the game and with community relations. I'm not sure how confident I am, but that's what I want to see. But let's not give the benefit of the doubt where true doubt actually exist just yet. This could be just another stunt to appease the simple-minded.

1 ReplyThey aren't listening. They never address the huge issues. I can almost guarantee that they will not talk about why so many things were removed from Destiny & why there is no end game.
-
Edited by Randomizm: 11/29/2017 4:25:46 PMMy problem is that everything they will say in the blog today they could have done in a stream .....live....in a public forum getting feedback that is un doctored and not sent to a pr team WHILE they showed off a lot of new fashion. Just seems like a lesser version of what we could have because instead of showing they are going to be telling. Which indicates to me it's not ready yet which will yield the same effect as if it didn't exist. People won't come back with the dlc unless the changes come with it. Not 've are working on it'

You just reported a bunch of misinformation and hearsay, the very thing you claim you are against. The fact is you don’t know shit other than your feelings get hurt when people get mad at your favorite game developer. Grow a pair.

5 RepliesDude, I have some magic beans I'd like to sell you, you're the perfect customer. Bungie has gone 3 months without any communication. You don't get a pat on the back for doing something you should have been doing all along. Bungie has done nothing throughout the entire Destiny lifespan that would make me give them the benefit of the doubt. I'll save you the time of reading the blog post....it will be a hype machine with vague details designed to fool as many people as possible into buying the DLC. In reality, it won't change any of the fundamental flaws of D2 (i.e. 2 primaries, no good guns, no good abilities, long charge times, nothing exotic about exotics, 4v4 etc...)...but hey, you'll get an emote wheel....weird how that's tied to Eververse...

People have been saying there's a xp throttle for weeks and it was completely ignored! Only after ign and other big names picked up the story did bungie change it - and then try to sneak in doubling the requirements.

2 RepliesBar progress gets smaller... but the +EXP value stays the same. Hmmm. Curious.... If they weren’t intentionally deceiving you, the in game prompt would have displayed the correct amount. If they weren’t intentionally trying to deceive you they would have done something about it when it was discovered over a month ago. If they weren’t trying to intentionally deceive you, they would have fixed it themselves and come clean, instead of waiting for the headline to pick up major traction. The fact is, the system was put in place on purpose, in a deceitful and purposefully secretive way to lie and steal from the players. You can not justify that. No matter how hard you try. And neither can they.
-
Reading that, you're either also misinformed or a Bungie employee ... possibly both
-
What you need to understand is when you openly admit you will "always stand with"... Any brand or product you admit your opinion has no worth cause your standards are dependent on labels and not content quality. Adjust your conception of value and you will be, atleast, alittle easier to take seriously.

Bungie -blam!-ed up. The community is outraged. And it's time for an answer. That's it. If Bungie doesn't get from behind the shadows and speak up... that's on them.
