So I’m seeing a lot of misinformed opinionated posts about the news. For those who do not know what I’m referring to: the bungie livestream for curse of Osiris today was cancelled. Instead bungie will be making a large blog post on their website/app.
So you are all entitled to your own opinions on the matter. However, I feel it’s important you guys understand what’s happening. Today was going to be another typical livestream showing off some armor and weapons and new changes. Lately though public discontent with the state of destiny 2 is at an all time high. Many complaints about the game are surfacing. So instead of the fashion show bungie will be posting a blog post in direct response to the communities feedback.
Now the point I want to make is that many people are upset and making claims about bungie that simply aren’t true. The number of posts and youtube videos that claim bungie isn’t listening or bungie is lying is staggering. This is what this cancellation is about. Instead of ignoring complaints and continuing full steam ahead with their livestream bungie is taking the time to address these issues. They know there is problems and taking action to open a dialogue with the community about these problems.
I for one believe this is fantastic. I love destiny and will always stand by bungie but even I can admit there are problems. However, I believe this is a very positive step in fixing these issues. So before you complain and rage, take the time to look at this blog. The studio is reaching out to you telling you they messed up and they want to make it right. These people poured their hearts into this game and they want it to be better just as much as you do.
Lastly for all the people upset about the xp debacle. You have every right to be upset. In the midst of all the scandal with micro transactions this was not a pleasant discovery. But if you come out and make hateful comments about how bungie is full of liars and thieves, then you are simply wrong. Bungie immediately reacted, clearly confirming that this was indeed happening and taking steps to improve it. They never hid it from you, and they immediately took the blame. It shows me this company is dedicated to righting those wrongs that are out there. So please keep the door open with bungie and keep the feedback constructive. Bungie is doing their part it’s time for the community to do theirs.
TL:DR - the livestream was cancelled for a blog post where bungie is going to address all the problems with the game. Give it a read and make your judgements then. Let’s make community feedback constructive to support a company that is genuinely trying to make things better.
Firstly, you don't know why this stream was cancelled, so don't build your argument with that premise. You don't even know what they're going to discuss and what types of issues they will choose to address. For all we know, it will be meaningless, safe and cherry picked concerns they can respond to without starting a riot. I for one believe they will play it close to the chest and address things like vault space or shader usage. Hot topics like end game for hardcore players, direction moving forward will be answered vaguely if at all. Yes, I have little hope given their track record. This is just my speculation of course and it's inferred from their past announcements.
Bungie immediately reacted, clearly confirming that this was indeed happening and taking steps to improve it. It shows me this company is dedicated to righting those wrongs that are out there
They only reacted because they were caught and since it is just before the first DLC drop, they need to ensure their fate does not match that of EA's so they can sell those DLC's. They implemented the XP throttle thinking people were too stupid to catch it, which is pathetic. They wouldn't have 'righted their wrong' had no one found out about this, they would have just continued pushing that shit.

Bungie has said nothing and that is partly the problem. Throttle xp and there apology was to double the xp target from 80,000 to 160,000. Now you explain to me where the reach out was there? Until this community can see that bungie is meeting us half way there will be waves in the water. We stomped up the hard cash so now it's over to bungie to deliver the experience they promised us in august!

Do you know what time they plan to post this so called blog?

Edited by mja calg: 11/29/2017 7:11:13 PMBungie has had almost 4 months to address small Quality of Game Play issues but chose not too do so and ignored us. For example, you can not view Challenges until AFTER you begin an activity (could have added a page on the web site / companion app as a stop gap), mass dissemble of items in out inventory like shaders (as a 30 year developer, this could have been done EASILY in less than 24 hours including extensive testing), we need access to our stats in game or on the website / companion app which should not need to rely on 3rd parties for this (cheap on BungleVisions part), the mess that is the vault in D2 compared to what we had in D1 and any of these other 20+ items I listed here: https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/235656241 remain unresolved. And despite multiple small fixes of a handful of items, Bungie had done nothing except hype their next DLC like a carnival barker at a small town fair freak show. Add to this the podcasts and interviews they have done where they say they are happy with the game as is, well there never will be change unless we refuse to buy the expansion.

Also, they did in fact lie about their xp system then lied about how they resolved it...we shouldn’t have had to uncover this...
-
First of all, they would've made these adjustments long ago, and the real issue is the xp fiasco. They are taking heat and they know it. They didn't do this to "create a dialogue" they did it to save face before the shitstorm that will follow curse of Osiris
-
And what you need to realize is that this is the first time they are actually responding...We FORCED their hand because WE had to. They were going to continue to drudge on but they couldn’t ignore us any longer, but you fail to realize is that they ignored us until this point, and that’s their problem. I love his game too, but I don’t love what it’s become.
-
They shouldn't have to react to these to issues. Why was the game set up like this to start with? On top of they are promoting xp boost with pop tart and rockstar? That wasn't a mistake that was intentional. The other thing is that they knew the game was hollow before it even released. I'm sure they play tested the crap out of it. But instead they release it anyway. To make matters worse they wait till now to address it? They should have been proactive. Maybe had this blog post detailing our concerns before showing coO. By defending them you're part of the problem. And you're basically saying that this behavior is ok and you'll support them no matter what. Let me end with saying I'm a huge destiny fan and have over $500 worth of t-shirts and other crap from the bungie store not to mention almost 3000 hrs in destiny. Look me up if you'd like (rawdilz) this shit is not ok and they need to make drastic changes or better yet revert back to destiny 1 systems.

That's just, not true. It was cancelled because of the "Two tokens and a blue" debacle. It was cancelled because Bungie doesn't want to be questioned live, and in public on their stream about how they are going to fix their completely broken and boring game. If they say anything today that sounds like it might fix the game, it will be a lie. They have no intention of fixing their game. They think they did it right.
-
I'd rather read the updates than watch an entire 2 hour stream just to get a few tidbits of information.

Get off bungie's di©k

Dear Jex, There are three reasons Bungie dev's are making a blog post today. -The communities uproar about the state of D2 since lunch -DLC 1 is on the way and there are too many negative feedback -and most importantly the media attention on Bungie/Activision The exp controversy isn't why most ppl are upset it was simply the last straw. Without these the state of the game won't change and the dev's wouldn't made a post to talk to us. so you should in a way thank these ppl for speaking out (I'm not referring to the trolls among us). Whether you believe it or not ppl love this game and they want it to reach its potential but sadly Bungie's are talking the safe/cookie cutter route for the sake of balance.
Sorry for my bad English
Thanks and Regards, Ali

They canceled the stream for no reason ......But that it was only going to hurt sales. Here is the deal if you are posting a blog or what ever fine great have at it. Why then cancel the information stream other than the "information" was just more of the same two tokens and a blue information that was doing nothing but drive players out the door at a rate that was actually enough to scare them. Think we understand well enough?
-
Them canceling a livestream watched by the entire fan base in favour of a blog post is... good? If they really cared they would have trotted out the management in front of the camera instead of hiding behind a carefully worded release. If I offend someone and want to apologize, I do it to their face. Can you imagine doing wrong to someone then posting an apology on a message board somewhere? It’s insane, especially considering they had the stream locked and loaded, and the entire fan base would be watching. The truth is that they have no plan, they just want to calm us down so we can keep buying bright engrams.

What time's the post supposed to hit the site, today?
-
This is what I "need to know" Do you and lost sols take turns making Deej breakfast or is it something all three of you do together?

Way too many X’s. muted.

1) Clarion call - Come with your clan! Earn DOUBLE XP! 2) FO, 4% XP to you bastard

Ya, I understand that too! Like Bungie has done nothing "yet" to improve and the game and we complain and vomit that they are not making improvements when they are going to improve the game. I hate it too when people don't seem to not get it. Like give Bungie time and respect to improve the game when they can improve the game.
-
So Bungie is gonna post what's wrong instead of telling us face to face. Sounds like Bungie is taking the cowards way out. They messed up and now they are to scared to tell us in a live stream. Nothing but a bunch of coward pussies if you ask me.
-
You are the reason the game is in the state that it currently is.
-
1 ReplyIf things weren’t so -blam!-ed that people bitched so much in the first place, they wouldn’t have to cancel the stream to do damage control.
-
Edited by NOVA Perc: 11/29/2017 6:10:23 PMIf they wanted discourse with the fan base, they would have done an AMA on the Reddit D2 page, as that's where they got caught manipulating xp at. That's how you open dialogue. Not a one sided post answering what THEY feel is important. This is so typical tone deaf Bungie. It's been like this for 4 years. It's not changing now.

Zzzzzz

The cancellation is all about DLC sales. Its the only real leverage we have

Then they say they are going to stop throttling the xp, which they did, but they conveniently left out the part about doubling the required xp. We then had to ask them about it to, backed up by proof, before getting confirmation, that yes, they did once again lie to us. A second note on this is that, actually, they are thieves, because people paid real money for xp boosters. If people knew that that boosted xp was going to be throttled, they probably wouldnt have bought it, I def wouldnt have wasted bright dust on medallions, thats for damn sure. The internet reaction to this whole thing is just as volatile as it should be, and is completely justified.
