I live in Chicago so I feel pretty confident in telling you ketchup is acceptable when no suitable alternatives are available and you just want to scarf down food like a savage, but never if the bun is poppy seeded.

Bruh, poppy seed buns are the best buns. Also, I have a tough time believing you live in Chicago when you think Ketchup is acceptable because “there are no alternatives.” Where the hell do you get your hotdogs from?
-
Last place I had a hot dog was Jim's Originals. But if youre buying hotdogs from a place then they'd supply you with your normal assortment of onion, pickle spear, peppers and therefore the ketchup would not be acceptable. I'm talking, in general, when you grab a hotdog from some grocery store packet and stick it on a stale old bun. In that depressing state, you're allowed ketchup. Hotdogs outside of the Chicagoland area and maybe some major cities nearby with Portillo's are definitely an inferior good. Most people won't be eating a hotdog because they're rich and want quality taste.

If you’re under 18 you’re allowed ketchup. But otherwise, Ketchup is never allowed. Especially when you can grab everything else at a grocery store.
-
But who eats hotdogs that isnt under 18 or a hungry college student? I guess summer BBQ's and sporting events are your main offender. Then its definitely not acceptable because they needed the forsight to purchase the hotdogs and buns, and should have gotten the rest.
But who eats hotdogs that isnt under 18 or a hungry college student?
Well, college students are over 18, also. Americans eat 7 billion hot dogs during peak season, from Memorial Day to Labor Day. That's 818 hot dogs per second. Nearly 6,000 were consumed in the time it's taken you to read this far. Numbers are from National Hot Dog and Sausage Council. Those are the amount of hot dogs eaten during baseball season. So either 7 billion kids ate them or your claim that people over 18 don’t eat them is wrong. It was also the NHDSC that said Ketchup is acceptable until the age of 18, no exceptions.

Thats what I figured all adult hotdog consumtion would be "I guess summer BBQ's and sporting events are your main offender"
-
Even though summer BBQs can still provide mustard, considering ketchup isn’t the only thing people buy for BBQs.
-
mustard is still pretty weak on the sauce game chart
-
Yes, but it is acceptable on a hot dog, unlike ketchup.
