A 4 and a half year old F2P Hack & Slash compared to a 2 month old P2P First Person Shooter? Makes sense.
A 4 and a half year old F2P Hack & Slash compared to a 2 month old P2P First Person Shooter? Makes sense.
My post was made because people like to compare the two quite often. I was tired of it being done improperly so I made a proper version of it. Destiny 2 is and should be a 3-4 year old game because it’s a sequel, no idea why they made it more of a prequel and didn’t expand upon good concepts though.

 • Its not even a sequel: it's a reboot. All the dialogue is written with first time players (mainly PC) in mind, which is rather clear to veteran players when you listen to Ikora explain the Taken, or how your Ghost gives a quick overview of the Fallen. Ikora doesnt take time to explain that not long before the events of Destiny 2 we had fought and killed Oryx. Ghost tells you the fallen are scavengers that worship machines, but doesnt tell you they're on Earth because they want to take back the Traveler, which they worship as The Great Machine. All the exposition is very broad and without any depth. I often found myself, as a veteran player, thinking "That's it? That's how you choose to explain it? There is so much more to (race/character/etc.) than that!" It's a soft reboot of the franchise instead of a proper sequel, starting over with everything instead of building on the foundations laid before it.

 • Depending on your perspective, they did just that. As a PC player, I was not able to port my console characters over. So for me, they're all new characters. Characters that did not face Atheon, or Crota, or Oryx or Aksis. It helps to forget your old characters and just approach it as a new game. it makes the reset easier to swallow, though it's still a bitter pill.
