Destiny 2 uses an mmo-style structure. That's just how mmos work. Take it from me, a long time mmo player, the rng in this game is a lot fairer than other games of this type I've played.
Besides, what if you didn't pick the graviton lance and realised that it was actually more your taste than the exotic you picked? I took the graviton lance and haven't gotten either of the two other options I could have had yet so it would make sense to offer these items which were in high demand to start with so people who didn't get them don't feel like they're at a disadvantage.
You getting loads of duplicates is just really bad luck, it happens. You'll get something you really like eventually and it'll feel really good. That's how this type of game works.

I've also played mmos and have never experienced rng this shit. Also, I've beat the campaign on all three characters and have all the campaign weapons. So I'm even more pissed about getting only the graviton lance. And let's be real, the this pretty shit right now. Idk honestly, I'm pretty fed up with grinding for hours to get like 2 exotic engrams only for them to be lucky pants or graviton lance. And even so, destiny isn't a normal mmo or they would have legitimate content, it's not worthy of a standard loot rng system. It should atleast take into account that I've been given what, 5 graviton lances now and that maybe, just maybe I don't want another one. Broken as -blam!-

Hence why I commented on you getting the graviton repeatedly being bad luck. I wasn't purely speaking from my own loot either. I've gotten a single legendary mod drop which is something I need a lot for my gear right now but looking at the drops other people have it really doesn't seem as bad as either of our cases make it look. And sure, it's not a "normal" mmo but it uses the mmo foundation for the game even though it's more of an instance-based mo blending into the fps genre. Have you played any Korean mmos? Now -that- is a grind.

Does bdo count? And I guess it is some pretty bad luck but I mean why yknow. I'm a little afraid to get exotics now.

Yes, games like that and ArcheAge where you can actually have negative progression through doing the correct thing! Also if you're looking for a really punishing grind game, try Blade&Soul. At the end game, it can take players months to level up or get one significant upgrade, then new content is released and everything they just did becomes irrelevant.

I had a friend tell me all about blade and soul and it deterred me. I can't game too hard core and I like to see progression and new rewards. But this system seems funky

I really do like the game itself, though the playerbase is too hardcore and the progression late game just doesn't feel rewarding enough. Don't get me wrong, I want something to last me a long time but that just takes the biscuit on grinding. To be honest, the game is actually a lot of fun all the way from the start up to the endgame, but once you hit that brick wall of "oh well I guess my life is now running this one set of dungeons over and over for little to no reward" it stops being the game it could have been and becomes a p2w material grindfest. I think if it wasn't for the ex I was with at the time being the reason I played, I wouldn't have stuck with it for very long, never mind grind it out for several years.
