This is a question for vets from D1 who also play D2. Please don't respond if you haven't played a significant amount of time in D1 as I'm looking for a somewhat accurate poll.
Out of curiosity, which load-out scheme do you prefer? Why?
I have mixed feeling about this one. I kind of like that in D2 I can run with two primaries, especially in PvE, but I can't help but feel like something is off. I don't like that shotguns and snipers are 'energy' weapons - I could see snipers possibly falling into that category, but not shotguns (for PvE). It's a close quarters combat weapon, no different than a sidearm.
I like the feel of the D1 load out better in general, they were a lot more 'defined'? But only marginally better ... I think the concept in D2 is good, but it needs to be tweaked somehow. I just don't know what it is yet as I still have yet to fully form my thoughts about this.
I liked having ammo synth (even during the great depression (lol) as some of you may remember). Even leveling up your weapons was interesting.
Anyways, let's not make this into a 'this game sucks' or a flame war ... let's just hear your opinion and some good dialogue to back up why you prefer one over the other.
UPDATE: Great to see so many opinions and why, and without the flaming. Well done, Guardians!

2 RepliesD1’s system by far. All of D2’s problems ultimately stem from this change. Bungie’s worst decision to date.

3 RepliesD1 for PvE D2 for PvP

2 RepliesI loved having a shotgun and a rocket in D1. But, I also love being able to run a scout and an auto in D2. Do I miss some of the D2 special weapons? yeah Would I have liked to have some of the new weapon combos in D1? yeah You can have fun with it if you want, or you can be salty. This community just always picks salty for some reason

1 ReplyIt's not the layout that I have a problem with, it's the guns themselves.
-
Im fine with D2's weapon loadout. I just wished we had some Heavy Machine guns though.
-
Weapon system is the main reason why Destiny 2 feels so boring and dull to me.... idiot Devs
-
Neither. Give me 3 slots, but let me equip whatever I want in them and keep the ammo type tied to weapon, not slot. (Note that this doesn't address other issues that would probably become even more apparent with this kind of layout - mostly proper availability levels for one hit kill ammo and weapons that don't operate true to their supposed archetypes [I'm looking at you ARs])
-
D1 without question.
-
I quit D2 until they return to the D1 loadout. No machine guns and useless snipers = dead game
-
Lol I member those "147 (or something)+ combination" comments fan boys kept throwing at us. I'm currently using a the same scout, sidearm, and a sword all the time or a pulse, sidearm, and rocket....sound for familiar? Bring back the freaking destiny 1 system bungie. Its ok to be wrong sometimes. Don't listen to those pvp pussies.

D2 was a fast easy way to "balance" crucible. Two primaries for pve is boring.

I miss my last word/ sniper/ machine gun combo

1 ReplyI'm going to say D1 system and throw out something to chew on which IMO is being overlooked. D1's system allowed for raids to give weapons with a big plus factor WITHOUT ruining the balance of PVP: elemental primaries. In the D2 system, an elemental primary is just another tool in your belt, but in the D1 system, an elemental primary takes a GOOD weapon and makes MUCH BETTER or even elite. And since elemental burns are only active in PVE, it has absolutely ZERO effect on PVP, meaning it does no harm to PVP balance. In the D2 system, elemental primaries would just be a "meh" reward, whereas if they went back to that D1 system, people would be grinding this stuff for days trying to get their hands on them because they offered such a big advantage during burn activities. They were a good thing IMO in Y1, and should never have been removed. But its really only a worthy reward in the context of the D1 system.

Edited by Touch: 11/2/2017 1:28:47 PMD1 allowed you a more powerful loadout and made choosing a primary a bit more important. D2's set up is obviously weaker by comparison and is simply not designed for PVE. It's pretty simple. Now, as a comprimise, I would have liked to see a 4th slot added like Borderlands and perhaps some restrictions in PVP on how many and what slot options were allowed to preserve their "competitive" arousal. But I prefer D1, if I had to choose.
-
D1 rulez. This is why i didn't buy D2, and it was the right decision.
-
D1’s weapon system was perfect. It provided so many options for different play styles. D2 is so boring now, no diversity in play style, just everyone using nothing but primaries all the time.
-
I prefer pretty much everything bout D1.

2 Replies2 primaries = BORING!!!!!!!!!

24 RepliesPeople that vote for the D1 scheme just want their one hit kill weapons back for PvP, and stronger PvE weapons to burn through material. Destiny 2 offering dual "primaries" gives the ability to cover multiple ranges effectively with primary weapons. While you lose out on DPS, I like it in PvP, although would prefer power ammo not to be involved, at least in the way that they have implemented it. In destiny1, I used primary for the majority of kills. Typically sticking to medium long ranges. I used a sniper mostly as special, but the last nerf made them much more situational to use, so I used sidearm to cover the close mid range before they made the last special ammo adjustment. I stuck with scouts or pulses to cover longer sightlines. In destiny 2, I have mostly been engaging in close mid to mid range. Using subs, autos, hand cannons and 200 scouts. With fewer one hit kill weapons, and no instant death stickies, means I can play more aggressive without trading to these weapons and abilities all of the time. For three most part, range was my response to D1s one hit kills minus snipers, which I would avoid their sightlines. I feel D2 has a better weapon balance overall, which allows you to play in different ways with different load outs effectively. Snipers need improvement as a power weapon, pulses are overshadowed in their optimum range, but for the most part all weapon types can be viable.

Destiny 1 load outs make the game fast and fun, Destiny 2 load outs make the game slow and boring

I'm a if it ain't broke don't fix it type of guy and I didn't think it was broken.

2 RepliesPvE: D1 PvP: D2

1 ReplyI like D2's better because it allows for more weapon variety, better boss design (less bullet sponge and more mechanics), and it allows them to make shotguns, snipers, and fusions stronger than they were in D1 (not saying they have but they have that option). Ammo synth is bad for the game as it slows everything down, realistically the game should just be balanced such that you would never need a synth at all.

1 Replytldr; I want to main shotgun, yoloswag omg plz upvote me it's all I have in life!

2 RepliesNew system is better. Way more customization.
