Can ghost be killed and of so how?

So I was reading a debate of Halo vs Destiny and someone kept bringing up that you can just reach in and just rip the ghost. I do know that ghost can be killed of they have no light but what other ways can they be killed?

Yes, Ghosts can be killed. That’s why there are Dead Ghosts to collect in Destiny 1. These are literally are the Dead Ghosts that have been drained of their light. We also encounter Dead Ghosts during the campaign. In The Last Array we have to collect Dead Ghosts that are in The Fallen’s possession in order to find the Array network in the Cosmodrome In the Dark Beyond we encounter a Dead Guardian in front of The Temple of Crota and our Ghost immediately asks “What happened to its Ghost”, we find his Ghost just inside the temple doors and we discover that it’s been completely drained of all of its light ( by the Hive ). Erris Morn’s Ghost is also said to be Dead although we are never given are clear picture on what happened to it.

    • “techcnically whenever we enter raids or no-respawn areas in the world of destiny, and we die/or the darkness consumes us, we’re technically dead for the rest of eternity such as the countless guardians lost in the vault of glass, the guardians destroyed during the attack on the hellmouth, because the darkness that we had lost our battles with consumed our light and the light from our ghost therefore killing the both of us. but because it’s just a videogame lore rules don’t exactly apply so we just keep respawning thanks to our ghost, just to die 100000 other times trying to push atheon off the edge

      • Well, Felwinter killed Citan's with a shotty. If the ghost is visible/not in a backpack, it's vulnerable, according to lore. Look up Felwinter's grimoire card.

      • In the early days Ghosts were relatively easy to kill, especially if caught unaware (for reference: Felwinter destroying a Warlord's Ghost with a shotgun/ Cayde's rules of duelling explicitly saying to avoid Ghosts) However by the time the game is set Ghosts have developed significant countermeasures leading to them being much harder to physically break (e.g. Awoken bombing runs & Cabal orbital strikes (which even they say isn't practical due to Guardians being too Mobile and refusing to group in large numbers)) However they are still vulnerable to magic darning their Light (see Hive) and from being separated from their Fuardian.

          • If the ghost is viable then it's killable. Seeing as how it's a little machine (think friendly Servitor) it can be destroyed by getting shot (look at Felwinters grimoire card), getting ripped apart, smashed, ect. Basically they are very fragile.

            • Smash it, shoot it, rip out the parts. They're little machines. They're definitely killable, in all of D2's cutscenes you can see Consul wearing a ton of them as trophies.

            • You have to think this: the Ghosts are just little AIs, nothing more. Yes, they are very advanced, they've been created by the Traveler, they have the Light exactly as us and that's why they can work for centuries, but they are just little AIs, nothing more. They need to clean themself, their gears, sometimes they need to change their Shell and they have to make self-diagnositcs to be sure they work properly without problems. Their only defence is to became invisible, they can hide very well around us or even "inside us", or inside our "backpack", they are very hard to detect... but that's all. They can be smashed, shooted, even "eated" by the Fallen. The Hive and the Taken can easily absorb their Light... and, worst of all, they can't be revived by other Ghosts. When a ghost dies, it is forever. That's why they must be very careful and they are Always scared to die... 'cos they can't revive as us, as the Guardians. If they die... it's forever.

            • Smash him/her/it. They are machines and machines can break just like any other body, organic or inorganic. Draining the Light was one method that the Hive used.
