In my experience at least Destiny 2 is way more rewarding than Destiny 1 was. I have gotten maybe 5 exotic engrams already and have gotten 2 just from opening chests or rank ups. In Destiny 1 it was even rare sometimes to get an exotic from a nightfall.

Sure, they added Exotic Engrams to the Engram drop chances, but aside from the Exotics you get just by progressing through the Story, and the Mida Quest, I can't say that I've received an Exotic anywhere else. Hell, I'll go through a whole night of playing and barely get two Legendary Engrams. And those are from turning in those damn Tokens to the Zone vendors... The current Loot settings are crap, and the crap Blue Loot is weighted far, far too heavily for a "Loot Based Shooter".

You must have incredibly bad luck with packages then. I always get at least 1, most of the time 2 legendary items from rank ups.

I know how you feel. I had a lot of bad RNG in Destiny 1.
