Hey man. The swastika is nothing but a Tibetan sun wheel. The symbol is thousands of years old and shows up around the globe meaning the symbol was common place even before humans migrated across the landbridge of Asia to the Americas.
And in spit of it's ancient context, it is still immediately recognized globally as a symbol of hatred and bigotry...
The origin of a symbol stops mattering when you allow that symbol to be coopted by a terrorist organization, rather it was a hate symbol original, it is one now. Sorry. That's how it works.

Edited by PhNx Hellfire: 9/20/2017 12:24:40 AMYou should really stop trying to justify something as a hate symbol. I had never before heard of a hate group called 4Chan apparently once upon a time. Years go on, I keep off the internet mostly, and I hear it again and again and again and even when I did hear about it, went and looked out of curiosity, and still only found the rare examples of it posted as a picture. The fact is? This symbol actually does mean something and one segment of a single group decided it wasn't worthwhile. That isn't democracy last I checked because not one smart person on Bungie said, "You know what? You're right. Let's everyone put it to a vote. Whatever the results? Those are what we go off of." The world is not something you can shy away from and by accepting this as a hate symbol now? You aren't playing to that natural and only real smart rhetoric. You want to know the issues the history books DIDN'T say and what the teachers DIDN'T teach you? You're looking at it. Right in it's smiling, smug, face because very few people have said that is the problem. Not a picture which means "lol" in a World of Warcraft reference world...

This stuff about the swastika isn't really true. You say it's recognised "globally" as the -godwinslaw!- emblem, but large populations in Asia still use it daily and see it as whatever they mean it as. We in the West only see it as a -godwinslaw!- thing because that's its sole use nowadays. Your case seems to support retaining symbols that coincide with hatred; removing the symbol leaves it for the racists to pick up and turn into those instantly recognisable emblems like a -godwinslaw!- swastika, whereas using it for whatever else makes it essentially harmless.

I think the fact that you can't even type the word -godwinslaw!- shows how much they want to avoid controversy.

Edited by rofl: 9/19/2017 5:28:41 PMNah I thought about that last night and it seems reasonable enough. I mean, it is just a games forum after all; they probably never anticipated genuine conversations about -godwinslaw!- lmao. Just stuck the godwins law thing because inevitably someone will argue a point and end up calling someone else a -godwinslaw!-, which we all know loses them the argument. Unnecessary censorship but it's probably just for the joke

Edited by YourVillain: 9/19/2017 5:47:48 PMEh, One could argue that -godwinslaw!- are one of the most over used video game enemies of all time. Before they introduced this wonderful new version of the app, it was very possible to end up talking about Wolfenstein for example, in the off topic section. Which would be very difficult to do without saying -godwinslaw!-

It's not a hate symbol it's an internet meme, some people use it wrongly, but it is not racist because a few people use it. The swastika was used by a whole country
-
That's because they were able to take it over. Everyone in the country wasn't down with the swastika. I'm sure if the racist had the numbers and power to take over they would use some existing symbol for their flag. For the record I do think people are being too sensitive.
-
People are using the swastika wrongly. It means what it means because they are getting away with using it. Look. I get it. I belong to a subculture that people just openly dislike because all they know about it is the few assholes that make a nuisance of them selves in public. I get what it's like to be misunderstood. But when a terrorist organization takes your symbol and uses it "wrong", and you do not respond with overwhelming negative outcry against them, your symbol becomes their symbol. Which is why if you see someone using a symbol which is important to you to mean something that it shouldn't mean, you need to fight against it because they are taking something away from you personally.

You made a case for the swastika but there's still no reason for kekistan to be offensive
