what is this "offensive symbol" everyone is talking about. i have seen some people saying that because of this symbol or whatever it is, a hunter chest piece doesn't look right. that's pretty much all i know of this. is the symbol really that offensive that they had to remove a hunter chest piece?

Edited by YourVillain: 9/18/2017 7:54:10 PMIts kek, as in kekistan which is a meme made up by some trolls on 4 chan that has now been adopted by the Alt-Right.
-
Half right. The Alt-Right didn't adopt Kekistan - they detest it. Kekistan mocks racial-politics on both left and right wings, and so various left-wing organisations saw themselves being attacked and just lumped the two together. The only similarity between Alt-Right and Kekistan is the choice of establishment targets. What you say about Charlottesville I find unlikely for that reason. I did see photos of KKK members present there with Klan patches similar to the Kekistani flag but definitely not the same thing
-
I know it started out as a joke but actual racist are definitely using that symbol

Also, these guys... https://goo.gl/images/eFSQSy

Ok that second photo was very clear. Still, I find the idea that racists can get anything they like removed from the public sphere just by identifying with it is ridiculous. Intended to remove their influence, but just ends up giving them more power

I don't disagree but I understand why Bungie did this. At the end of the day they are a game developer and if their recent actions have taught us anything they are about the money. Not a messy political statement.
-
Very true, I forget not everyone is as politically motivated as I am. And yes, bungie/Activision definitely only cares about the easy-route to money, I think that's been obvious from the very beginning of destiny really
-
Eh, I think there might be some confusion on both sides because these guys... https://goo.gl/images/Vj6PaK Ain't fighting for the left

Can't really tell from the picture which it is due to that unfortunate fold, but there's this very similar flag belonging to the Global Crusaders: Order of the KKK group, it's previously been confused with the Kekistani flag and iirc was the main cause for Kekistan being lumped in as a hate group in the first place https://gck337.files.wordpress.com/2016/11/dexati20161007234909.png But regardless, Kekistan in its intended form fights all racial-politics which are what sparked the thing being protested in Charlottesville so I suppose people from the group may have been present
-
huh. im just going to assume that's a bad thing and leave it at that.
-
Lets put it this way. The dudes like the ones in Charlottesville get a kick out of carrying around that symbol. So Bungie was like nope. Not touching it.
-
ah. that made it much easier for my simple brain to understand lol. thanks for explaining it.

No problemo. Knowledge is power
