I'm sure my comments are going to earn the ire of the community, or from bungie or I'll receive comments like "you're just trash. Git gud, haha" or something equally as puerile, but here goes. So, solo queuing wasn't exactly the best of times in the first game. You'd usually come up against a fireteam that would stick to each other like dog's balls and just get massacred. Occasionally though, you'd manage to get someone on their own, engage them in a solo firefight where you didn't get teamshot into oblivion, and nab a point for your team.
Destiny 2 does not have this. The name of the entire game is teamshots. The map is now much tighter, and the teams far smaller. This gives you less opportunities to catch a person off guard or on their own and actually engage in a fair firefight. Because it's now 4v4, you are never able to engage one enemy on their own, and have it be a true test of skill, no now Destiny is all about how much you can hump each other's backsides as you farm noobs, with the matchmaking STILL placing entire fireteams against randoms (because that always goes well.) I'd hoped that the second game would address these issues in the crucible, but it seems they've actually made it far worse. Too bad if you don't have any friends, huh? Just shit out of luck?
PS. I find it funny that the ones who aren't complaining are all the tryhards who spend 90% of their time in fireteams blowing each other as they teamshot "n00bs". I do quite well in crucible, and even I think the state of crucible right is pretty shitty.

5 RepliesSolo que is fine, maybe you are the problem. Solo que is all I have done. Pro tip: stick with your team.
-
I've been solo queuing and done just fine. Stick with a team mate and look for lone wolves. Adjust your own play style to fit the game, don't demand the game change to fit you. When it's cold outside you put on a jacket, not scream at nature until it warms up.
-
The play style has change, every game type just needs you to stay with your team.... just made sure I did that and matches went well

2 RepliesThe real problem is when someone dips or disconnects. No1 else fills their spot. This happened to me like 10x already

Understandable.
social anxiety sucks😏
I personally think 4v4 was implemented because they didn't want to update their servers. There was so much lag in Destiny 1 due to map size and player count that they decided to make the smaller maps and only put 8 total players in. This is just my opinion mostly due to the fact that Activision is cheap.

Hate the 4 v 4 but solo I wasn't doing too bad. I do see frustration if you were to end up with clowns. I guess I've been lucky so far

Edited by Erijian: 9/12/2017 3:04:33 AMIf it's solo players vs solo players it's pretty fun; I'd even say fireteams of two and two randoms is fair game. When it's three or four in a fireteam though.. It becomes literally unbearable. In D1 you could manage against full fireteams, in D2 you can't whatsoever. I know it sucks for my teammates, but I'll continue to back out of games if there's three or more in a fireteam on the enemy team until Bungie adjusts TTK+abilities to allow for more play potential or creates a leaver penalty. (Which at that point I won't solo queue at all anymore; only with a full fireteam.)
-
I somewhat agree here. This has been a problem in pretty much every competitive multiplayer I've ever played since I started playing halo 2.
-
I agree that not being able to engage enemies on your own is an issue and having to stay in the same place as your team is a huge problem. The main problem isn't that the games are 4v4 though; as others have said it's that the game plays so much slower. Time to kill and regeneration times are dramatically increased. This inevitably leads to the necessity of staying with your team if you want to do well and win. This isn't R6S where tactics and strategy are the main ingredient. Sure, D1 had strategy and tactics but they were much quicker, on-the-fly decisions rather than drawn out plans. You could tell from the reveal event that they were more focused on team work rather than individual skill from the way that they keep score in PvP. You're no longer told how well you played as an individual player but rather how much you contributed to the team. Lame. I play PvP to improve my skill and know how good I am. This necessarily will help your team in the end. Unless, of course, you make a PvP mode that only rewards teamwork and punishes solo performance. The only way to fix this is to decrease the TTK or regen rate. I despise having to hunker down for 10 seconds after a firefight in order to re-engage a team.

And they still need to make a 6v6 mode tho

2 RepliesEdited by THUNDERCHILD: 9/11/2017 10:25:24 PMTiny game modes are a very specialized game types. Generally they are offered as a side dish amongst a wide variety of other modes, and the people who have a taste for these small game modes usually understand that they require you to play a certain way. What Bungie has done is force gamers who have different styles into this subcatagory of game mode, and its not going to end well. Whoever is running the pvp development department has no idea what theyre doing, has no buisness being there, and needs to move on to something they can handle. Pvp is clearly not their thing. Its as though a couple Devs really liked this kind of mode and with zero consideration for the desires other gamers decided for that this kind of gameplay was best for everyone. Until this problem is fixed, i recommend that if you start a game and your team splits up in the first few seconds you simply back out and try again. Dont feel bad about quitting the match, its not your fault, its a failure on bungies part to understand the necessity of variety in modern fps pvp. Not only will you be avoiding a frustrating waste of time, but youll be helping everyone else involved by hastening the inevitable end of the bad match.

Been playing solo for three years and I plan continuing the trend. PvP isn't bad as a solo player. It's bad if you take this pixelated stuff seriously, probably, I wouldn't know how that feels. I liked PvP in Destiny from Day one till the end and this isn't bad(minus the stupid double primaries). Sure there were some idiots who ruined PvP because they take this video game stuff way too seriously but I adjusted. Maybe it is the fact that you need to "get good" or you should use the app to fine a fireteam since you can't play as a solo in 4v4. There are also clans out there you can join. I've had a couple throw me invites but I don't think I

Bump.

1 ReplyPVP sucks. Used to be fun 6v6 as solo. Could wreck. Now, it's just team shot and die. Yay teamwork? This is boring. I want to run and gun not camp.
-
It's not 4v4 that's the problem. It is the increased time to kill and slower recovery speed that makes it harder for solo players. When I was solo queueing I found that I didn't feel as in control of the match as I was in destiny one. I realized it's because it's harder to come out on top of a 1v2 when player health is so high, and with slower recovery you won't even be able to successfully pull off two 1v1s because you won't recover in time to have a fair fight with the second guy.
-
2 RepliesPvp is crap now anyway, it won't go very far
-
3 RepliesI really like the change to 4v4, one of my favorite features actually, now i might play pvp more. Its made it much less of a "wow i got more kills than anyone in the game and still lost" scenario
-
I solo queued all day today, had a good time
-
Ive been doing fine solo
-
While 4v4 has its place for me, I will not bother with a game that has only 4v4. With many of the other games putting 20-30 players on a team in the mix, I believe that this is a step backwards. Gone are the days of Bungie large style maps and massive mayhem. I would like to see the return to days of yore.

Getting into the team chat can help. But even then I only get shutdown by a fireteam once in a blue moon. Maybe only 4 times so far. D2 has to be played slower than D1. Before we had one hit kill weapons essentially at all times so the game was move as fast as possible and keep the enemy team tilted. Now your enemy is way more likely to be grouped because everyone is playing it safe. Now you have to apply strategy to your playstyle, think about your approach: are you outnumbered? Do you have the high ground? Is your opponent long range or short range? Does your current position compliment your weapon choice? All of these things were in Destiny. In Destiny 2 the game has evolved to accentuate these aspects. I understand it's frustrating, I'm still adjusting to the change, but I'm really loving the challenge.

Then practice.....?

To be honest I don't see the problem. I queue solo all the time, and even against fireteams you can still do OK. Sure, sometimes you get wrecked. So what? You can't win every game. Sometimes people are just better than you. But I do just fine solo, and I don't really care if I take a loss. I get the feeling most of these types of posts are by people who run out in front, get dead, then blame their fireteam for not backing them up. Try not being the guy that runs out by himself, and follow your team instead. Then the other guy will take fire first and you can kill the enemy. Git gud :P

im more upset that theres still no leaderboards or ranking system. "competitive" is a joke if theres no ranks.
