I'm sure my comments are going to earn the ire of the community, or from bungie or I'll receive comments like "you're just trash. Git gud, haha" or something equally as puerile, but here goes. So, solo queuing wasn't exactly the best of times in the first game. You'd usually come up against a fireteam that would stick to each other like dog's balls and just get massacred. Occasionally though, you'd manage to get someone on their own, engage them in a solo firefight where you didn't get teamshot into oblivion, and nab a point for your team.
Destiny 2 does not have this. The name of the entire game is teamshots. The map is now much tighter, and the teams far smaller. This gives you less opportunities to catch a person off guard or on their own and actually engage in a fair firefight. Because it's now 4v4, you are never able to engage one enemy on their own, and have it be a true test of skill, no now Destiny is all about how much you can hump each other's backsides as you farm noobs, with the matchmaking STILL placing entire fireteams against randoms (because that always goes well.) I'd hoped that the second game would address these issues in the crucible, but it seems they've actually made it far worse. Too bad if you don't have any friends, huh? Just shit out of luck?
PS. I find it funny that the ones who aren't complaining are all the tryhards who spend 90% of their time in fireteams blowing each other as they teamshot "n00bs". I do quite well in crucible, and even I think the state of crucible right is pretty shitty.

Like everybody else, I experience an abundance of team shooting and hand holding throughout Crucible. But there's ways to counter that. And I haven't had much experience with solo q'ing in D2, thankfully. Personally, my only real gripe at the moment is respawning. It's pretty apparent Bungie geared D2's PvP towards an arena shooter, so in my opinion, respawn timers should be increased for supremacy/control objective based game types. Often I find myself engaging in a gun fight and taking out 1/2 enemies, make a push to recover their fallen crests and I'm already getting tagged by a scout rifle by the very two people I just killed. Increasing the time to respawn from (3?) to 5 could make the gameplay flow a little better regarding those two game types. I could also just be crazy... Other than that, enjoying the 4v4, smaller maps, primary gun fights and less ability spam and clutter that was in D1 haha!

I don't think it's so bad soloing. If you see a group of teammates go one way then you can flank and catch someone who is focused another direction. I played 4 games yesterday and only lost one. I don't see what the problem is. Didn't take all that long to find a game either. Destiny pvp is still easy compared to other games.

I solo queue and still have fun. I've just accepted the fact that teamshooting is the only way to be competitive in D2. Do I like that? No. But, it is what it is. I sometimes go off on my own anyways. Getting a hero play 1v3 occasionally more than makes up for the getting teamshot repeatedly if you don't care about meaningless vide game stats

1 ReplyThanks for voicing this. Bungie couldn't care less about people getting making friends in game , they are a business so why would they. What they do want as many people playing as possible as its money in the bank for them. They want solo players to nag their friends to play so they are not team stomped in a lot of games. More people playing is good for them. There is a reason that they take the advise of psychologists.

This is the best sum up of d2 pvp yet. It basically is rawdogg your teammate and bukake noobs to win. Skeet skeet everyone gets a turn. RIP #solo players. Pro Tip: Die last so you get that juicy teabag train experience.

Edited by seathasky: 9/14/2017 12:47:39 PMAgreed 100%. I get stuck playing premade 4 man teams and get wiped because they literally camp one end of the map and team fire. No fun. Individual skill means shit now.

92 RepliesI'm tired of hearing people bitch about teamshotting when they have a radar to tell them where enemies are shooting them from. Its sad. I know that people don't pay attention, run out by themselves, get shot, then go on the forums saying that they prefer the game with grenade spam, and minimal primary usage. For gods sake man use you're game sense. Also, why do people act like team shots are only a destiny thing? Run into a group in battlefield, you get team shot. Overwatch? Teamshot. Gra? Team shot. Rainbow six siege? Team shot. Cs:Go? Teamshot. Hell, Destiny 1? Team shot. If you dont pay attention, you die. Thats it. You're fault. You had the radar, you didnt use it, you died.

1 ReplySame as the below poster. I never run with a pack of any sort and have only recently gotten into the clan thing for the loots and I figure might as well since this is the game I have played for 3 years. I tend to carry well over a 1.5 KD in most modes and when Iron Banner starts up I'm going to be killing things real good. Not gonna say get good. But it's rarely the fact someone is in a communication environment that drives poor play. A lot of the teams kinda suck since they are just 4 terrible players who happened to play together. I'll still drop them and since team shooting is a thing. Even easier. Less movement needed for multi kills.

I have no problem with 4v4, and I almost always play solo
-
I have to sorta disagree. It can be difficult as a solo queue, but most of the time I'm solo, and still do decent. 2 different ways of playing solo, imo. 1. Upon spawn/respawn, find and follow a teammate. Definitely easier, when communicating, but totally doable without. Pick someone, and treat them, for a lack of a better word, as a human shield. Maintain s slight bit of distance, then just shoot over their shoulder. Basic team shooting, minus the team. 2. The way I prefer the most. FLANKING ROAMER. This will only truly work with the combination of good map sense and competent radar use. Keep to the edges of the crucible maps. If you keep at least one side of yourself to the direction of the edge, you know, no one will be shooting you from that direction, minimizing the shooting lanes you need to be aware of. Then simply work on FLANKING, coming from behind or the side of your enemies. Best case scenario, your enemy is solely focused on killing your teammates, an you can sneak up behind and sandwich them, or at least coming from the side, eliminate some of their cover options. D2 crucible, is still quite different. But true skill is the ability to adjust your play style depending on what changes have occurred. This isn't 1984, guardians aren't super computers playing tic tac toe, and the statement, "The only winning move, is not to play," doesn't apply. In fact playing, learning the maps, using your radar, and constantly getting back into the action; either sneakily, or using a non grouped guardian as a human shield, is the new path of the lone wolf, for D2 crucible. One last bit, getting crushed over and over can be a bit discouraging, but eyes up guardian. It's just a game, and losing can still complete some milestones/challenges. As well as land you the occasional exotic. So try and stick with it. Good hunting to you Guardians!

Relax give it time to adjust and develop new strategy. Compared to a good match in D1, D2 PvP is not as fun because there are fewer people and supers recharge much slower but that might be good in the long run. I am not very good at PvP and I don't like it very much but consider when the enemy team stays as a group you can wipe them out with a super or a rocket. A joke from another game: "The enemy has us surrounded... now they can't get away!" Also find better weapons that suit you and this kind of game mode. eg. Hand Cannons are not the best option because of the fire rate. I did better with ARs, fast fire SRs and sidearms also stick to kinetic because there is damage reduction but instead of reloading switch weapons. That said even after doing better against full pre-made teams I still don't like the 4v4 and only play it for the loot.

Agreed
-
1 ReplyI kinda agree, either your destroying the enemy team or your versing a clan. Ive seen more clans in quick match then competitive. They need to bring back 6v6, or even possibly make an 8v8 big team with vehicles and such (obviously would need a bigger map)
-
1 ReplyAs stupid as this might sound, how is 4 vs 4 worse for solo players than 6 vs 6? Surely a fireteam of 6 is worse than a fireteam of 4. Maybe there's some type of competitive strategy that I'm missing that makes 4s worse for solo players than 6s, although I haven't really experimented with PvP yet.

4 Replies*plays team based game mode where two teams play against each other in a team vs. team battle* *complains because now has to play as a team in said team based game mode to win* /logic Crucible in D1 was complete garbage, and anyone with two working thumbs will tell you that. It is better in every way in D2, and if Bungie is smart they'll keep it that way.

It's called a FIRETEAM what the whole game is based around So go get one and FIRE at the other TEAM Jeez

3 RepliesNice repost nub

You can play with people without actually being in a furetean, you're aware right? Like you stay generally near their blue for on your radar, and then if they are getting shot you can help and shoot back. Just a helpful tip
-
2 RepliesI couldn't agree more with this and I've pulled a 31 kd, because of team fire, it's stupid and solo que is now trash, along with the ttk being dropped and the maps being smaller it sucks ass, not to mention I can't pick want I wanna play.
-
D2 Crucible is complete garbage. I do very good and still just don't enjoy it. And for everyone who is complaining about D1, you must have just been bad.

1 ReplyI'm dissapointed. My favorite game mode is survival, but I can't have any fun on it because I always get matched with 4 people in the same clan.
-
2 RepliesEdited by Dave the vex756: 9/13/2017 3:14:45 PMWell I've been playing as a solo person in crucible for a while now, and I've actually been doing better than I did with a fireteam (do note I had a k.d. In D1 below 0.74 for all of 3 years). I honestly think it all depends on how conservatively you play, are you passive or aggressive, or a good mix of both? Do you try and stick with your team despite them being blueberries? Do you use weapons you're comfortable with, or do you like to experiment? Also do you run from 1v3 engagements or do you stay? (My strategy for 1v2s is to bait one while the other is ads, then pick off the one that I baited, then consume my grenade and pick off the last one.)I honestly really like the place crucible is at, and hope it stays this way for a long while. Hope this helps!

The crucible community is adjusting. I'm far from "sweaty" but do very well in crucible so far. It sucked going up against players that were lvl 280 in the first 6 hrs of the game, but since then it's been leveling out. Started a control match winning 35-8 with randoms... It's like Gears of War now (onyx rank tdm in that). Demands more cooperation....and a cooperative player base!!

2 RepliesCrucible ain't the same, D2 crucible is 🚮🚮

I'm playing PVP only for the milestones and have been having more fun and a much better K/D than I did in D1. I'm 90% Solo as of now and are there games wy team get wrecked, yes, but it doesn't seem to be that big an issue.
