Of course, the impatient kiddos will spend their parents money out of hype alone, it worked last time. Most of the major sites have hardcore Destiny fanboys doing the reviews so expect some really biased scores lol. We already know the "online co-op" part of the game had no real impact on the experience in Destiny (apart from modes designed for it, Raids, Nightfalls), so there's no reason to use that excuse again. I was watching some streams last night and for a while I thought it was Destiny 1. Same sh*t, some refined mechanics. At least Halo 2 added Brutes to the mix, there's nothing new here apart from different colored enemies. Oh wait, space dogs. Nevermind. The consensus on story is that, basically, there is one this time. No one says its good, just that "its better than destiny 1" and there's cut scenes. That's the emphasis: "There's a story" not "It's a good story" just that there is one. Yee Haw.

11 RepliesAnother review embargo.....again.....man the people that said Destiny 2 is the same as Destiny 1 are slowly being proved right. Review embargos, only 2 subclasses at launch, future expansions confirmed before the game came out, and lots of marketing trailers for the purpose of hype (impressive trailers I'll admit).
-
2 RepliesReview embargos exist, mostly, so that press will actually spend some time with the game before delivering their impressions instead of trying to be the first to post their content for the most clicks. Seems to be pretty commom with big releases lately.
-
40 RepliesSmells like they want you to actually play and form your own personal opinion. The game won't be for everyone. Reviewers opinions don't always reflect how you enjoy a game. Remember this. Everyone is different

Bump.

Embargo or not I'm not sure why you would expect reviews of an online only multiplayer/co-op focused game straight away anyway. Even when the embargo lifts I doubt you'll see many reviews. Maybe a few "first impression" type pieces and a few dodgy click bait reviews here and there. But don't expect any proper reviews until the raid has dropped and reviewers have had a chance to play the whole campaign "in the wild" when the servers go live.

WTF are you smokin'? I just saw Reviews in Progress form IGN and Gamespot.

7 RepliesWould someone kindly explain to me what a review embargo is?
-
2 RepliesDon't be discouraged by the down-votes, mate. Only ones left here are bungo fanboys. ;)

Bungie likes to rip their customers off
-
5 RepliesIt's activision this is part of how they make there money... 1.Hype and adds 2.preorder bonuses 3. block reviews so when the game launches and fails to live up to the hype (they have reason to think it wont or they wouldn't embargo) people will still buy in droves. 4 repeat.
-
Out of all the issues with D2, THIS is the main reason why you shouldn't pre-order. If Bungie (or any dev/publisher) wants to restrict access to important information to the customer up to the launch of the game, then it is not in the customer's best interest to put money down before the game had been reviewed. Just wait for the reviews, one week after launch so we can have the Raid review too.

Smells like bait!

3 Replieswell there are going to be hundreds of youtube videos being posted over the next few hours as lots of streamer are playing it right now.... they broke street date and gained access.... really unfair to other who wanted to do reviews and gain a little viewership on launch....

I mean seriously you all blow things out of proportion simply because it is destiny. All games shamelessly do this garbage and it's annoying no matter who does. Other things that are annoying are trailers showing only action, game of the year editions, and award winner, or award nominated. It's advertising garbage that exists because they think it works and or does work.

4 RepliesWhat the hell is this, a congregation of idiots? Servers ain't even up yet, dumbass.
-
1 ReplyIt's a long term kinda game and if you're a reviewer it wouldn't really mean much to the game as a whole to review it the week of launch.
-
Edited by DOOM996: 9/5/2017 6:35:42 AMIf you are a D1 player who has put thousands of hours into the first game you just don't give a fck about reviews or embargos. You know where Destiny came from and did it to year 3. Its more a "important" thing for new players and people who come back, only to spread the hate. We veterans, addicted D1 players go the journey and we will love it! Bye now!
-
nothing like a review video showing you how to complete the first 10 levels and where all the secrets are before the game is even released.
-
Its... an... MMO No MMO has reviews day 1 because it requires the many and the online features. Also I bet we shall see more reviews pushed back to next week because... the raid.
-
The fact they still make game guides when we have the internet.... Its not 2006...

Everything you, yes YOU need to know about review embargoes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gavcvi19q1g

6 Repliessmells like bungie is very aware a majority of reviews will be negative just because its cool to hate on destiny
-
2 RepliesEdited by RPColten: 9/5/2017 1:47:57 AMAdvertising and possible review embargos are Activision's business, not Bungie's.
