There has been a wide variety of thoughts on how the XIM will translate next to a regular Controller input, and a standard M+K setup.
I'm going to clear some things up about how it works each way and what the advantages and disadvantages there are compare to each.

AA(AimAssist).................................N...............................Y....................................Y
Vertical Recoil Reduction................Y................................N...................................N
You see there is a Vertical Recoil Reduction on Mouse and Keyboard.
The goal with the decision to decrease the vertical recoil is so that M+K users don't have to fight insane recoils. While Keeping the console vertical recoil for Controller users and those who translate with the XIM4.
You're at a fair advantage with M+K, even more so that the XIM4 M+K method, since the XIM4 will read your Inputs as a Controller you're getting that Vertical Recoil Increase as well. Which makes the M+K setup balanced in both terms.
Controller of course has the AA and Vertical recoil. But giving the sensitivity and how well controllers handle, especially when you're used to them, It is easier to control the Recoil with it. But you don't have the added benefit of increased sensitivity that you would with M+K, which some abilities on the warlock, titan, and most on the hunter will make the most difference in this aspect. Given how well you play though, the difference is not very noticeable, unless you're bakengangsta.
Alright so XIM4 with M+K, Same as a controller with more mouse accuracy (Depending on how you look at it). It's a pretty touchy subject but you have to consider that the information given from the Mouse is translated, it will never be as accurate as a native mouse, but the AA makes it even better if you're experienced doing this with XIM.
However it may be difficult to control the added Vertical Recoil especially with the ways the inputs are translated, You have two axis points (X,Y) for the Thumbstick, so translating from Mouse will restrict your movement freedom.
Mouse uses a light source, typically a light-emitting diode (LED), and a light detector, such as an array of photodiodes, to detect movement relative to a surface. Which makes it more accurate than the translated mouse.
I hope this helped some of you understand the differences and how they sort of balance out. In my perspective, the differences are not that noticeable in game when facing those with different input choices. The only noticeable difference visually is how shots line up with peoples movements, and the amount of directional control they have with mobility perks.
TL;DR:
Mouse and keyboard, Controller, and the XIM4 M+K choices are balanced in their own way while having minor advantages and disadvantages. If you're not experienced with one and you try to pick it up you won't become better or have a better chance at winning. As people get used to preferred hardware choices and they stick with them.

5 RepliesAim Assist vs No Aim Assist is cheating regardless of input devices.

1 ReplyOne question I've always wondered. Is Aim Assist on mouse and keyboard beneficial or even remotely noticeable. It seems to be that AA would be pointless and even detrimental to a precision aiming device like a mouse. Has anyone confirmed that it actually provides a noticeable advantage?
