Auto Aim has no place in PVP on PC. It completely diminishes the experience, and it must be removed.

I know it's long, but please read my post before you respond. Even if you disagree with me, we're on the same side; We all want this game to be as awesome as possible. I am NOT saying that: - I'm salty because I'm getting totally stomped by controller users. - People shouldn't be allowed to use controllers. - Controller users are console player trash and are innately inferior to members of the PC Master Race. - I don't understand why Auto Aim is in the game at all and it should be removed entirely. I AM saying that: - PVP with an uneven playing field feels bad. Not only does it make it more frustrating to lose ("I only lost because Bungie gives controller users free aimbots") it devalues winning ("I can't be sure if we won because I'm awesome, or because the other three players on my team are playing with controllers"). - It opens another vector for cheating. We're already seeing this with players who plug in controllers to add the aim assist to their M+KB play. You're going to have your hands full with people trying to cheat as it is, even if you find a way to track and ban this behavior it's going to be a constant game of cat-and-mouse as people continually discover ways to abuse the aimbot you yourselves added to the game. Why not avoid this headache altogether by disabling it in PVP? - People will take PVP less seriously knowing there are sanctioned aimbots among the playerbase, and it will irreparably damage not only the engagement of your most ardent players (the competitively-minded who will stick it out between PVE releases) but if you have designs on making this an Esport, you can kiss those goodbye. The jokes at the expense of your game will be torrential. I will say that I have no issue with Auto Aim existing in PVE. If it makes peoples' experience better with their control method of choice, I totally get it and I think it should be kept in the game. This just doesn't make sense when applied to PVP, though. It's less fun than it could be, for everyone involved. It's gotta go. Speaking as a core gamer, I want to sink a bunch of time into getting good at the PVP in this game. But if it's cheapened in this way, the simple fact is I'm going to get bored and frustrated, and go back to one of the many FPSes already available which actually presents a legitimately competitive experience. Thanks for reading.

  • Community: Says modded controllers and mouse and keyboard on consoles is not cheating, but calls using a controller on a PC game cheating. It's just another reason you can't take people here seriously at all.

Am I the only one who finds MKB far superior? Are you guys coming to a PC FPS for the first time having never used a mouse before? I don't get it. The controller is more convenient from an HTPC perspective and absolutely NEEDS AA or you won't be able to hit a damn thing. As for a mouse.. just point and shoot? It's pretty solid. As for "sanctioned aimbots" you're being dramatic. AA abuse through XIM is not sanctioned, and is cheating. Ultimately not sure about the fuss. Destiny is not nor ever will be a competitive shooter. If you don't think you can balance AA in PVP go play literally any other PC shooter and try both inputs. Doom is balanced just fine and supports on the fly swapping between controller types and associated AA profiles. Interestingly I have not heard a single complaint from the community in that game. Only here where apparently, for the first time in PC gaming history, gamers are salty about controllers apparently being better. WTF.

      • I totally agree that it needs to be removed. It's not just the fact that it's an aim assist, it's an aim assist that tracks players heads. PvP on PC is a very bad experience. Not only is it unfair and divides PvP, it is very easy to exploit, and people already are. The devices people use on consoles to make their mouse and keyboard work with it are now being used on PC because it makes their mice and keyboard act like controllers thus giving their mouse aim assist. And it's probably not far behind where people are going to use third party software to exploit this. It simply does not work, there is a reason aim assist is not on PC games.

i dont know about details but ill use my controller once we have the d2 release version and if i get kills easier than with my mouse i will not be a part of this d2 ride i also dont think its possible to balance this fairly for new players and pros

      • Bungie have decided throughout the course of Destiny that PVP and PVE will play in the same Sandbox. Repeated nerfs in D1 to "try" and balance the PVP experience often resulted in a weaker, less fun PVE experience. Your request to have the AA behave differently for each play-type simply isn't going to happen if the past serves as any example. Get better with the K&M or simply switch to console. Those are your only options.

        • Part of me agrees with you but as someone who plays FPS game on BOTH console and PC Idk. I will be getting Destiny 2 on Xbone for the veteran rewards but my Experience with PC was interesting. 60 FPS is amazing but the PVP felt weird. Before you call me a console peasant I have pretty good if not great accuracy in FPS games but i felt like i was missing my shots in PVP unless i used a controller idk if this is due to auto aim or because the past three years ive been used to Controller. Either way i won't be playing on PC so not my problemo.
