Not in game concept, mind you. But in game execution.
Remember how awful Titanfall 1 was? Remember how that game was one of the biggest let downs to ever hit the Xbox 1? How it ended up in the bargain bin half a year later?
...Then Titanfall 2 happened?
And at first, during the Tech Test(or beta), Titanfall 2 had a lot of changes that the core fan base did not like. (Not being able to customize your own load out for your titan, etc etc.)
And then the game released. And was amazing. And til this day remains one of the most underrated shooters on console ever.
I hope the same happens to Destiny 2. Where the first game was trying to figure out what it wants to be, and the second game is like "Yeah, I know what I want to be." And then -blam!-ing nails it.
Here's to hoping.

13 RepliesEdited by TheShadow-cali: 8/19/2017 11:46:13 PMThat hope left me the day Bungie nerfed Y1 and capped it at 170 in PvE but allowed everything to work as normal in PvE. Since then this company has looked for ways around everything in this entire game instead of facing their challenges ahead of them. They have done it with the adjustments between both game modes They have done it with the perks on weapons and gear They did it with primary Elemental Match making Vault space and doing it again Luke smith saying the Exo stranger story is "completed" The list goes on about many thing this company keeps advoiding and looking for ways around things to make it easy for them but are not taking into consideration how they are actually effecting the experience gamers have had to deal with by treating this game like a beta. Knowing how much this game is lacking and this company on how they keep changing things. How are gamers like me suppose to have faith in a company that can't even get a grip on their own game after going on 10 years? I'm sure there are going to be some interesting event's and places to explore. But I don't like the face that since I'm mainly a PvE gamer why do I have to suffer because little joey can't handle being killed in PvP? Since when does PvE "need" a meta change every single update. In fact, why does everything in PvP that is nerfed have to be nerfed in PvE? Since when does perks on my gear and weapons "need" to be removed that compliments my super or other gear and weapons. That now they were turned into set perks in a game that is a loot based system? I thought my Guardian is supposed to explore it's limits and become legend? Not, fitted to play PVP. I'll never understand how this company can be so disconnected from it's player base that they think making a game for the new gamer is the only way to go. What happened to the gamers that stuck out this entire 3 years that has tried to get their voice heard? Nothing person to anyone, but no one asked for the major changes in this game for D2 that literally does not benefit the PvE gamers. Especially with this sandbox with the added bonus of trials being added to D2. I only wish this company wasn't so selfish and would stop dumping on PvE for the sake of "balance" in PvP.

2 RepliesYou sure you actually played Titanfall 2? It had custom loadouts in the form of the power abilities and worked just like COD and Battlefield in that you chose the role you wanted and the equipment was based on the role. The pilot could carry whatever the heck he wanted and YOU are the pilot! People initially complained because we thought it was just that i.e. COD and that the manoeuvrability had been removed. Instead they added better wall running and the ability to air chain an enemy pilot like Scorpion from Mortal Combat. The single player campaign was also full of suprising innovation like the time travel level and the way the AI companion actually made you get attached to it, so that by the end of the campaign you actually want to go rescue him! Something that Destiny's ghost should have mirrored. If the Ghost were like the titanfall 2 AI I guarantee no-one would be complaining about the ghost! Instead of some adolescent jackass constantly spoiling the moment with stupid childish quips you would have had a bad-ass tactical advisor and friend who actually took the fact that you were in a life and death struggle seriously. You'd get comments like "If we can get above them we can take them by surprise!" or "Analysis suggest we aim for the head" which gives you a heads up about a possible weak spot instead of making you waste ammo shooting everything on a boss because the designer put the weak spot on it's toe! Basically it would be saying stuff that motivates and get's the blood pumping. Not childish, irritating stuff like the exchange between your ghost and failsafe. The T2 AI would likely have stopped you before you left the ship on that first mission and asked why the f%^k you had two primaries!

1 ReplyTitanfall and Destiny both only needed one fix. They just had to add a story.
-
5 RepliesTitanfall 2 sucks just like Titanfall 1
-
Precisely. But let's just hope that Destiny 2 doesn't get the sales that Titanfall did, because it was a damn shame how little Respawn made off of that spectacular game.
-
Tf1 wasnt awful. It just lost player base quickly due to worse games like CoD being released
-
I was about to say no. But yes, in that sense, for Destiny 2 to make up its mind what it wants to be; a pvp or a pve game and follow through. As this half-breed hybrid they created is a failure.
-
I dont understand why people hate Titanfall 2, I love it.
-
8 RepliesIt sounds like you didn't actually play Titanfall 1, that game was phenomenal, far better than the shit stain that is 2

3 RepliesRemember when smart pistol was a normal weapon? Yikes.

Generally speaking that's how new IPs tend to be. I expected Destiny to be awful and I accepted it. Now Destiny 2 has a blueprint of sorts to springboard off of. Now is the time for. Bungie to show off what they can truly do, despite the awful development process and questionable launch the first one had.

I thought Titanfall 1 was way better imo

Edited by murkypondwater: 8/21/2017 4:22:31 AMMmm. My main thing with D2 on the PVP side is the maps. Yeah, they look great, but the 4v4 and longer TTK had me feeling strong Halo vibes and made me want maps that feel more Halo, too. I want maps that're completely inside a facility, all tight corridors and sightlines, like Countdown from Halo: Reach. I miss the good ol days; D2 beta gave me a taste of that, but not enough to satisfy me :'( I just want one map like that.

2 RepliesTitanfall 2 is a great game but has a small campaign.
-
1 ReplyJust goes to show you how important advertisment and release dates are. Titanfall 2 got nearly everything right, free dlc and the best modern day shooter by a very long distance. But didn't sell great. Though people are starting to take notice of how good the game is now. Destiny 2 will sell well and have a huge advertisment push behind it. Even if the games bad it will sell great. If the game is good, records will be broke.

I like both how the game is shaping out a lot already. Everyone screeches and whines autistically about how the beta proves it's ruined all because of cooldowns and no story instead of listening to updates about buffs to the base game and realising that a beta is a way to get player feedback and not a early access of the whole thing. I don't care what everyone says, I'm just glad shotgun rushing and hardscopers will be a thing of the past. And as much as I hate to say it, teamshot-ing is going to be meta.

Destiny 2 looks like it's going to be amazing from what they've shared. At least on the pve side, PvP still remains to be seen. Gotta get used to it still.

18 RepliesEdited by Packis: 8/22/2017 12:31:45 PMIt will man, take my word for it. A majority of feedback against D2 Is purely emotional. Which tells me those who were upset but the shortcomings of destiny 1 are extremely passionate and are treating the feedback process like a tool to try and stab at Bungie. All this feedback proves bungie will be a great game since people want it to fail. It won't work guys, all emotional feedback is ANECDOTAL, as much as it triggers you to hear that word. It is true nonetheless. This game is going to be amazing, no matter how many chillens try to dissuade you.

Never played Titanfall 1 but tried the first beta for Titanfall 2. Whole matches with no Titan. I wondered why even bother. Respawn made some great changes directly related to player feedback. However, I think the damage was done. The poor beta reception and disastrous release date made Titanfall 2 like a cult film. The few people who bought it loved it. For Destiny 2, I also think the beta will hurt initial sales. The weapon system, "power" ammo drops, and super recharge rate weren't selling the PvE game. I know these were good changes for PvP, but the 4v4 is a tough sell for a broad audience of players. Perhaps worse, the beta was tiny compared to the Destiny 1 beta, and I think that gave a lot of players the impression that Destiny 2 would be light on content. Timing wise, the September 6th release date will help Destiny 2, assuming the game is good and has positive word of mouth. This won't be a Titanfall 2 situation where by the time everyone figures out how good the game is, they already bought Battlefield and/or Call of Duty. Hopefully Bungie will make the dual primary weapon system work, speed up super recharge, and start dropping "power" ammo so Guardians can use snipers again. We already know Destiny 2 will have a day one patch (at least for disc owners) and Bungie promises "subtle" changes for the PC beta. This is all on Bungie. I hope they can deliver.

6 RepliesI got a ~2.0 kd in Titanfall 2... I love the movement. I'm actually on the side of the streamer gamesager on this next point, where the only improvement they could make is remove Titans, lol .. Pilots vs Pilots all day. But yeah, I see your point. Destiny 2 is following a similar track to what happens with the fan base of Titanfall 1 to 2.
-
Yeah, I really hope Destiny 2 is as good as my own game. Well, partially my own game. I am in it.
-
Yup, agreed. I'm optimistic
-
Titanfall 2 .... now that was a crap game.
-
I don't. Titanfall 2 sure is a lot of fun but its so damn shallow.
-
Titanfall is one of the best shooter out there for like a month or two. Then it becomes the same thing, over and over and over and over. With new maps and whatnot. But, honestly, the devs for Titanfall 2 definitely keep releasing DLC, FREE DLC at that. And Bungie needs to take a page from their book for sure.

Hope D2's sales are better than Titanfall 2
