It's had a huge spike in players recently on PS4. There was 17,000 players last time I played.
Ironically, the matchmaking actually took longer than usual.
Good games get played.
EA got their hand slapped this time, so hopefully they'll handle the marketing of any future Titanfall games more responsibly.
If TF2 had been released back in the spring when it wouldn't have had to compete with any other shooters, I guarantee you it would have had a thriving player base. But to release it in between Battlefield 1 and Call of Duty was consummate stupidity on EAs part.
I convinced a couple of my friends to buy it recently when it was on sale, but on PS4 i rarely see more than 10,000 players on at the same time. I've seen it as low as like 4500 like the week before the DLC drops.
Sometimes i see players' names that i recognize. But i never have problems finding matches. Its pretty fast for matchmaking and connections seem pretty great.
It's players in your area, connect to a data centre, and there's lots of those. My data centre is Frankfurt, but apparently there's a frankfurt2.
Count them all and simply do Y (amount of data centres) x 10,000 (which is the average amount of players per data centre) and you have yourself a rough estimate of the actual playerbase on one console.
Ahhhh, i see. I am on the east coast of the us and i get matches pretty quickly. I play mostly PvP and Attrition though, so they are popular playlists.
