7 RepliesEdited by Stranger: 8/3/2017 3:08:02 PMIs it really a flop though? D1 was hyped up in next levels, and now there's people who aren't pre ordering out of caution like me. I'd rather wait for a month after release, and pre order numbers doesn't mean the game is gonna fail, and it was kinda obvious that D2 wouldn't surpass D1 in sales.
-
14 RepliesAre these numbers up to date or 2 months old? If the latter then false! Do these numbers include digital orders? If not the False! I'm not saying that pre-orders are booming but why post information that is out of date? If in deed they are!
-
Bungie really pissed people off with their half baked plan for the game, cash grab add-on model, and streamer catering. They have a long way to go to build back trust, especially with the casual day to day gamer.
-
8 RepliesThe fact that people still trust these websites like vgchartz for accurate preorders is crazy. None of these independent companies have anyways of knowing the digital sales on the preorders and they can only make estimates on physical preorders.
-
I assume you're using vgchartz. Do note that site does not include digital pre-orders, which has grown exponentially and continues to do so. You can see how this is effected since D2 only trails CoD WW2 on PS4 by about 13k pre-orders. I highly doubt you believe that game will flop as well based on that info, but you might. Regardless, it's clear that people are transitioning to digital which these websites can't track. I hardly believe this game flops. We'll see though. Time will tell.
-
2 RepliesIf the game flops I hope bungie gets broken apart like bioware Montreal.
-
Where is the proof on this. For all we know you just made up numbers
-
11 RepliesYeah, that's the number from VG charts. It's US only, and doesn't account for digital sales at all, only physical. I saw a few articles the other day stating that the PC market has already broken 4 million orders. And this also doesn't take into account retailers that don't report their numbers, it drawn from shipping and purchase receipts, plus user submissions. So bottom line, we have no idea what the preorder numbers are, and probably won't until well after launch. They may be terrible, but with over 4 million confirmed PC preorders so far, I think it's going to be fine.
-
The numbers you listed are deceiving. Destiny 2 tops the list if you combine PS4 and Xbox One numbers (250,000 plus). Call of Duty: WWII would be second on the list if you combine PS4 and Xbox One numbers. We are still over a month away until Destiny 2 is released, and the chart hasn't been updated since June 17th. Know the facts. The link is listed below. http://www.vgchartz.com/preorders/

13 RepliesWhy in the world would anyone digitally purchase a game? I've done it for 2 years and there are literally 0 advantages to digital purchases other than you don't have to drive to a store to get the game.
-
7 RepliesD2 is going to be a more disapointing than no man's sky
-
2 RepliesEdited by TheRainstate: 8/3/2017 5:46:31 PMConsidering that on VG charts it sits at both #4 and #6 with out even showing PC numbers and people who purchased physical copies I would say things are going well thus far. When the game first launched it was a brand new IP so the hype was Halo 2 huge. Its not a new IP any more and D1 launched as a shell of a game and got terrible reviews and player retention was low to start. It took too long for the changes that came with the Taken King and by then 1/2 the population was gone. What the current number of pre sales tell me is that 1/3 of the current payer population on both Xbox and PS have already pre ordered. That's some serious player retention for a series reboot.

1 ReplyEveryones waiting for dem reviews. And if the reviews say it's a good game, sales will probably jump.
-
4 RepliesIn d2's defense, crash bandicoot is -blam!-ing awesome
-
Crash bandicoot deserves it's position. Lol. Destiny needs some platforming like that.
-
3 RepliesI cant take people seriously when the chart has the new call of duty higher than D2. Wonder how many of those preordering it talk shit about D2. I can understand Crash being higher since its audience would be extremely wide since its re release is now which appeals to a new younger audience and the fact it was a ps1 game years ago with past generations of players.
-
If you look at ps4 and xb1 sales together, Destiny 2 is still one of the most commonly preordered games.
-
Its a shame cause Bungie had a real winner here, what happened guys?
-
3 RepliesBUMP! Can't wait for release and the disappointment on everyone's face, it's gonna be SWEET.
-
1 ReplyI dont do pre-orders or buy collectors from companies who solelly empower streamers. Let streamers pre order and buy collectors. I will buy it when it drops to 30€.
-
3 RepliesPeople probably want to wait a couple days after release so that they can read the reviews
-
1 ReplyYou fail to mention that it is still number two in preorders indeed. Even beating CoD. It's just the terms of the market. In the late 90's in three music industry most number one albums that release hit 1million sales instantly. Ten years later and even today the leading single or album is usually about 200-300k. The times have changed, bungie and Activision will compare sales of D2 to sales of other games in that year, not to a hand that came out three years ago. #GetUrFactsS8 #TellTheWholeStory

14 RepliesWho still pre-orders physical discs for an online-only game in 2017? Maybe people with super-slow internet? I don't pay for anything with cash anymore either. The world has moved on...
-
10 Replies90% of preorders are digital bud. There is over a million d2 preoders for ps4.
-
2 Repliesi was going to preorder then the bad news started flowing in one of the first things that turned me off was the whole power weapon, energy weapon thing instead of secondary and heavies.then i hear pvp is all 4v4 with no other choices.personally im a 6v6 control player and i dont like the lack of variations.i guess the final nail in the coffin was how much negativity surrounded the beta.not only did i not preorder but im not even sure ill buy the game at all.im going to wait a month or two after release and go from there
