I've seen people accidentally shoot wall grenades out of the air because they're spraying at the target throwing them. Any area-of-effect ability will destroy the grenade mid-flight or even while mounted. If it wasn't for this Achille's heel I think Bungie and others would concede they need nerfed or somehow balanced.
But the fact is, they don't always land correctly, not every map has ideal flat surfaces, and they can be destroyed by any incoming damage. Hell, sometimes it hits the target and falls on the ground, missing the intended target. Sometimes this happening causes the grenade to grind itself to dust against the target for a bunch of single digit numbers of damage. Truly, these grenades are not at all a problem unless you ignore positioning.
What they need to do is make a better visual representation of the cone so people aren't misled by the lack of pixels illustrating the exact dimensions of the cone. Spike grenade is more fair in this regard, but can be blinding, which is in a way an added effect which you probably don't want to add to Lightning Grenades if they piss you off already. I'm sorry but nerfing Lightning Grenades would literally be the end of Strikers and Titans in general.
Do. Not. Want. A. Nerf.
Edit: But if you're just saying the buggy stuff needs fixed, then nobody can really argue against that.

I tried to use the Lightning grenade last night but changed to a Flashbang because it wasn't hurting anything. They need to make it more consistent so that you have some idea as to what to expect when you toss it. In contrast, I get killed every single time by a Magnetic grenade. Well written. Bump

If it hits the target, the target will still be in the damage cone. Maybe if the target was fast enough to escape it but even then, that's a stretch. Also to have to prioritize a grenade instead of an enemy is a sad thing to have to do. "But you can grenade it you idiot" the titans cry. Well why should anyone have to use their inferior grenade to destroy the titans

*If it hits the target and isn't destroyed, or otherwise misses due to their movement.* I never said someone should HAVE to use their grenade. Why do people like you keep assuming things like this? What I said was so many other things can destroy them. Not that you should have to use these. In fact I don't think there's a single instance where a person intentionally used a grenade to do that. You won't get anywhere trying to force words in somebody else's mouth just to make your argument look better on paper. Lightning Grenades are not overpowered and can be counterplayed. What I find funny though is you're tilted you have to focus on my grenade to destroy it. As if the game should just magically let you destroy things you aren't aiming at with a weapon? But even worse you completely overlook the fact that a Titan throwing a wall grenade is temporarily looking away from their target. That means their weapon handling will force them to take a moment before they can damage you with anything else. And the more complex the positioning, the more likely they have to turn a greater distance to reacquire their target. Quit acting like Lightning Grenades don't have a high skill cap. They are probably some of the most balanced grenades in this game while still being viable in PvP.

That was a joke with throwing the grenade to stop the other. The point stands but I made it in a joking matter

Edited by vmondude: 4/28/2017 1:59:40 AMNow I completely understand what you are saying. The same happens to trips. In fact they often blow up in your face. But for the 20th time (please read other replies) I'm not suggesting they be nerfed only fixed. The random distance lunge or penetrating walls is my ONLY gripe with them. I respect them as a grenade, with boundaries, but not as a random distance room destroying tesla coil! Lol

But Bungie doesn't know how to fix anything in destiny, they can only completely destroy whatever they attempt to fix (Nerf)
-
Pretty much. I can't remember the last time a fix came without twenty further resulting problems.

Edited by iDovahBear: 4/28/2017 2:04:47 AMSorry, I got defensive because this is basically going to cripple my PvP viability if they nerf it instead of 'fixing' it. I agree that they need to resolve the bug issues (that will likely happen in Destiny 2 only,) but they could adjust the visual representation in the mean time. They probably won't until Destiny 2 though. Fist of Havoc has the same issue of clipping walls sometimes. Happened to me on Frontier once, guy was inside the warehouse while I was outside. He killed my teammate inside but it reached me for a double. It was glitchy af.
