So I usually play a couple of matches of trials with some other friends during the weekend and we run stacked as that's what playing trials is made for, having the bet team possible to compete. So we end up matching another person who at the time was streaming (not going to disclose the name) and they were doing a carry. As you would expect because we are stacked we had them up 3-0 almost 4-0 when I get a msg saying "back out, this guy paid for a carry" from one of the opposing players. Needless to say we 5-0ed them and bagged them the whole time as they were doing paid carries and told us to back out. If you aren't good enough to carry don't take someone's money and say you can. Don't take their money at all, just help them for gods sake.
EDIT: Hey guys didn't think this was gonna blow up but I guess good? I'm back to clear some misconceptions. When I say stacked I meant that I ran with a squad of really good players that I often play with meaning good team chemistry and good gun skill.
Another thing some people are saying I should have let them win, the issue is that he revived money for something he can't actually do and expects others to help him get said money for nothing in exchange. This is a game, not a escort service. If it was a friend of mine I would have backed out as I know them and trust them.
EDIT EDIT: So a lot of people see me as "scummy" for running stacked. The truth is they are my friends and they're good too. I play to play not for Elo or kd (sometimes I do) but I like the aspect of the game and playing with good people. I assume tho that running stacked is frowned upon because I play with friends? Let me go bring up 2 random lfg players and constantly loose.

2 RepliesShoulda messaged the dude who paid & told him to join you for free

I'll message people and tell them to back out, if they are red-barring. I don't really do trials much, but in any other kinda match, you see so many redbars anymore, that it's just ridiculous. Any time that I notice that my connection is messed up, I'll back out; because it makes the match almost unplayable for me, and I know that it's probably messing up everyone else's match also. It just drives me nuts, when someone who is red-barring, just stays in the match, screwing up the match for everyone else. So, I'll message them, and say, "Why don't you back out, until your connection is better. Reset your router, or something.".

good on you. if a guy pays for a service the provider wants to take as little time as possible to be able to do it again.. how pathetic of the streamer to message you.
-
Good decision i would do the same if i had a stacked team.

I'm a decent to 'occasionally can crush a card' player in trials and I've had this happen once. The dudes doing the carry were pitiful and I believe according to trials report they were only on a 3 game streak so not even close to flawless match. Felt bad for whoever got scammed into paying for that jazz. I had the laugh emote and hit that every round they lost. You did the right thing.

Awesome

3 RepliesThe fact that they charge money and then expect to be given a win Id have asked for half of the money before leaving lol. Otherwise bagging is the recipe for that match. I don't blame the players for charging money since ppl pay (Why do you pay when so many streamers do free raffles? Just be patient you have until september) I actually do "carries" with a streamer buddy usually really late at night. Im East coast he's west coast, we aren't gods by any stretch, we don't even Guarantee runs to the lighthouse but generally the player getting carried learns a lot from us and improves by the end. Just a couple days ago a guy with no mic (.6 k/d or so) won 3 raffles during the stream, first one we got 7 wins, we told him to get a fast rez chest piece because frankly without a mic at least that gives us some assistance. 2nd run we got to 7 wins again and told the guy he had to be a little more aggressive with his super (tether) and to be aggressive with us. 3rd run we go flawless and he was a huge help in the flawless match. For a guy with no mic he improved noticeably in the 3 runs.

Paying to be carried through trials or anything for that matter is almost or just as bad as cheesing everything like some people do. You used to be able to cheese trials back in the day if I did something like that I definitely wouldn't brag about it or wear the emblem that's for sure I'd feel like a cheat.

Can we get a rip in the chat for conquer of die.
-
Good job.
-
Well played mate. You did the right thing. Any decent soul would have done the same. The streamer carrier douche has destroyed this beautiful game so that guy carryinf others deserved it. Good that you mopped the floor with his ego!
-
Good.

2 RepliesI feel like "f@#! you, pay me." would have been an appropriate response to that.

1 ReplyI've been to the lighthouse many times. I would always rather have my ass handed to me repeatedly than pay some scumbag to get me there. Then again. Lighthouse isn't special any more.
-
If I got that message and my team was up 4-0 I would do the same. The crucible is no place for mercy.
-
Being someone who is terrible at pvp and will never make it to the lighthouse, you did the right thing. Paying to win is crap and it's unfortunate bungie seems to have no system / competence in place to stop it.

Edited by The 7th fall: 4/17/2017 5:32:37 PMOk this is one of few times where idiots like this deserved the t-bagging. If your gonna waste real money on a game mode within a game for RNG loot and failed attempts at hollow bragging rights you deserve a little reality. Why would someone be dumb enough to trust a random player with their money for this?! I hate ToO in terms of what has been done to it over time with all the nerfs and various types of players that ruined the experience, but I respect those that did it legit and deserve their right to getting to the lighthouse. Players like what you ran in to do not deserve a spot atop the lighthouse.
-
5 RepliesYou keep those paid short buses outta the lighthouse. That place is only for laggers and cheaters anyway. Not paying customers!
-
I'd say you did the right thing, in a sense. The fact that he had to ask you to let him win means that he's a bad sherpa and a big liar. That guy he was paid to carry should ask for his money back. Or report him. Or do something that'll end up bad for Liar McLiar-pants.
-
2 RepliesI agree with your decision to 5-0 them and t-bag them. In this case name shaming should be allowed so the rest of the community can avoid these scumbags. I'm sure that this guy has done this many times before and there have been some teams that actually back out.
-
9 RepliesI'm trying to think of anything currently in gaming that's worse than Trials... Nope, I got nothing. Trials is the pits.
-
Trials has the gaming industry's peak scum quotient. Good on you to blank those fools.

Who -blam!-ing cares

10 RepliesPaid carries kinda confuse me. On one front, as someone who can't play Trials as I don't have any friends on Destiny, streamers offering through raffles etc is a good service, helping those who need it. But selling them for money is exploiting that demographic. Plain and simple. Now I don't see the harm in dropping a dollar or so a good streamers way- this community has associated donating with paying for carries and corrupted it entirely. Sure, I've dropped a couple dollars to a guy in the past, only because watching them gave me practically all my specific pvp tech for Warlocks. Did me and my stats a great service, and I was grateful.

12 RepliesEdited by Rocker 782: 4/17/2017 3:58:46 PMI can't believe I'm actually commenting on this thread but I can't support either side. You and the paid carries guy are either side of this games garbage PvP coin.
-
Good for you make that streamer work for his money. I really hope it took him hours and hours to do the carry.
