It doesn't really work at all. Cheating is a grey area, some think exploiting glitches is cheating, some think keyboard and mouse is cheating, some think modded controllers are cheating, etc, etc. All you'll get is a cluster-blam!- of random people reporting random people. Think about it now, I'm sure you've heard a kid tell you he's going to get all his friends to report you for cheating because you killed him. The reports don't do anything. Most games/services have specific channels to report cheaters and hackers from which they will go investigate. I think or at the very least hope a report on Xbox or psn goes through a verification process to confirm that you have in fact played with the player you are reporting. Community reporting is stupid, just go through the proper channels and if you don't do anything they will probably be banned soon anyway in any relevant game.

  • The reports do make a difference. You see people on these forums all the time, primarily on xbox, saying they got banned for that very reason, kids getting friends to mass report. There is no varification process, once you get X reports within a short time, it's over for you. MS's report system is easily exploited and broken like that. Hence my opinion on the new way it should be done, as you agree, and be locked to reporting recents only. In regards to the hunts, that's just crazy and taking it too far. If someone would go hunting another irl for minor cheating in a game, they have more issues than need say, lol. As I stated, with ample proof, to post with the claim. You watch say a guy shoot a wall and wipe a team, no amount of lag or controller tool can justify that. People watch it, make their call, and report as needed. I agree, some would be the "he killed me and I call bs" crap, and could be an exception to the rules (basically only name and shame is real cheating, anything else is same as is now). I know this works, as a local liquor store as of this year began posting pics of people caught on camera of shoplifters on their window. Those that aren't caught by police later are fined upon sight by the local cops. Theft has gone down quite a bit apparently, and the community helps in catching them.

  • The most important thing I said that you neglected was that almost all relevant games at least that I am aware of have some formal method of reporting cheaters. Send the evidence to the source. Then why do you want to be able to name shame here? Make a YouTube video or something and go to a different forum. You have options you just aren't using them

Very few forums allow it, that is my main point. No major outlet, system or game company, allows it. That was the reason of the post, wondering why there isn't a sub that is dedicated to the matter. It would only help the companies, especially with a small team dedicated to watching it.

  • The reports do help, it helps identify people that Devs. need to take a closer look at.
