Project Scorpio: Will it kill PS4?
Let me start off with the fact that with the Scorpio specs revealed, it is better than the Pro version of a PS4. Here's the big thing. Sure, Project Scorpio looks amazing, but what of it's price? I'm going to say it now, with everything in total, this won't be cheap. Hell, they've even said it's a "luxury" version of the Xbox.
Now to my point, if the price is high people will still buy it. This could really impact sales though, as it wouldn't sell until the price went down for others. We can also take account that with the fact that PlayStation is... Well, way ahead of Xbox in sales, I'm seeing a potential tie for this year. And it also seems like Sony won't be spitting out a new version of the PS4 anytime soon, meaning. Well it's gonna be a hell of a close call.
What do you guys think? Will it be a close tie? Or will there be a clear winner?

You know, everyone keeps saying "No it won't they need to fix the exclusive prooblem". What teh -blam!- do you think they're trying to do? Developers will be keenly interested in this new console AKA more exclusives for Xbox. They've even openly said that this is one of their reasons for such a console.

Not really. The most capable machine isn't always the best selling. PS 2 outsold the original Xbox. Xbox 360 outsold PS 3. The issue is price....and games. ...and MS's position on both right now are pretty shaky. There are no games that leverage (fully) all that power. There are few XB exclusive games to sell the system.....and Sony has a MASSIVE lead in numbers of units sold. So that installed player base is going to be highly attractive to developers and will give Sony a huge leg up in deal making with third-party devs, and for console exclusives. Scorpio is basically a huge Hail Mary pass by MS to try to reshuffle the deck and try to obsolete the PS4 within this generation. Whereas all Sony need to do is sit back and watch what happens....and have their own contingency plan to match it with a unit of the their own, should it start to cut into their marketshare.

I play on both and I main my Xbox. I intend to upgrade to the Scorpio as I look forward to the 4K support and possibility of VR. That being said I don't think it will impact the PS4 negatively at all. I think this will just be the consoles parallel to PC and the ever changing/upgrading of graphic cards. I'm alright with the price point myself. I always preferred they quit holding the consoles ability back by trying to hit a certain price point to appeal to a larger crowd. I may not be popular with this line of thought but it is how I feel about it. TL;Dr I think the PS4/Sony will be fine regardless and both will prosper.

Of course it will kill the PS4. Didn't anyone listen to all the people screaming how important graphics are. It is the most important thing in the whole world for gamers. It is what gamers look for in a console. It must be since it's all I heard for almost 3 years. Oh I see, it's only important if it's your console that can do it. Now it's about exclusives. My god, how am I supposed to think for myself if you guys don't tell me what I'm supposed to think.

Nope . These mid gen upgrade consoles don't drive market share . The base models do . It will sell well within current Xbox owners but it's not going to change their fortunes around . Xbox have a huge problem outside the US and U.K. Europe , Asia and the rest of the world completely ignore the brand . A console that is probably 500 USD (which historically never sell well ) won't change anything . It's good for Xbox gamers as it's a good machine , but it's not a game changer . It's a niche product that will sell in niche numbers

I think it will be the go-to for 3rd party games and I'm hoping it brings more developers over. The power behind it seems pretty enticing.

Its getting them sales so they're keeping at it. Microsoft is selling both exciting exclusives and the best console (soon platform) for third party exclusives and a united platform with PC. Microsoft honestly just flopped for the straight up approach for this generation. They made major changes and now they are going for a different goal than PlayStation. Soon we won't even be able to compare the two.

It won't 'kill' the PS4 No console can definitively 'kill' another By sales, I expect Scorpio to do better since it's stronger but these mid gen consoles won't really attract as much attention as a completely new gen one. PS4 owner here and considering getting it depending on price. If the PS4 pro is cheaper then I'll get that instead or wait for the new gen and skip out on both of them

2 RepliesIt's amusing that so many PS fanboys are now saying, "it's not about the graphics, it's about the exclusives" when all they've been saying since the PS4 launched is "haha! We have better graphics lol. Xbone sucks." Why did you move the goalpost? Better exclusives is a matter of opinion and 90% of games are still available on both consoles. While I agree, Scorpio won't outsell PS, using the "exclusives" arguement when your original "graphics" arguement is obsolete is kinda sad.
