So let me get this straight, Bungie wants me to do a massive amount of things in Destiny, just to have to buy a t-shirt for $25 upon completion of the Age of Triumph Record Book as a reward? If we had gotten a special emblem/in-game reward for Destiny 2, I would have been very pleased, but having a t-shirt that we have to buy for even more money after putting in all that time feels like a slap in the face from Bungie. Anyone else agree, or is it just me?

I'd be willing to pay 0.04% of the price they're asking.
-
Typical Bungie shit. -blam!- the book

1 ReplyHow about you do every single unlock in the book and the shirt should be free. Only with every single thing filled in
-
i think this is weird but it's not at all surprising and it doesn't really make me mad...i just play for fun
-
3 RepliesAt least you didn't have to pay $777,777.77 for it.

1 ReplyI look at these books more as challenges than a means to getting rewards. I got the 100% I needed for my code on Friday morning. But I want to try and complete every node in the boom to get true completion. The t-shirt I could care less about and won't be getting. I'd rather put 25 bucks towards destiny 2.

So, here's your solution. Unlock stuff till you get to rank 6. Then either complete the book because you feel like it or just stop trying to complete the book. You can completely ignore the rank 7 reward and nothing will happen.
-
You don't have to buy anything. You don't have to complete anything. You know as well as I do people like you finish these things because of an obsessive compulsion to be "that guy"
-
If you really want a shirt? and cheap? Just do a google for cheap custom tee's. Go in design it how you want and use a coupon. Should be able to get one for about 7 to 10 shipped. But I agree, the reward for completing the book is pure shit and a big ole slap in the face and crotch. They should have at least thought enough of us to give us an emblem we could carry over to D2. But I have come to learn that Bungie doesn't value or reward loyalty or effort.

Edited by NYJarhead333: 4/4/2017 4:43:32 PMJust doing up to rank 6 for the emblems. They could keep the dam shirt.
-
So why even bother to complete it in the first place???

6 RepliesEdited by Octopus: 4/4/2017 2:29:30 PMTotally agree...but anyone surprised with this coming from the biggest cashgrabbing greedf**ks in gaming history?
-
3 RepliesIf you don't want to buy it, don't buy it. Or you CAN buy it and think of it as a way to thank them for putting out the FREE Age of Triumph update
-
3 RepliesBungie: "you played our game for 3 years and we wanted to do something special for those of you who finish this book commemorating your long journey through our 3 year beta test with a zoo of error codes. Upon reaching rank 7 in your book you gain the right to give us $25 for a t-shirt with your gamertag on it. We thank you for all the money you have spent on our game and will continue to spend on destiny 2." Sound accurate enough for you?

Edited by JHarv: 4/4/2017 1:26:40 PMIt is kind of weird that your trophy for completion of a very long quest is "HEY, BUY A SHIRT FROM OUR STORE!"
-
Not many people will get the t-shirt, so it'll be a rare achievement that you'll be able to show off with pride. However, assuming you actually leave the house wearing it, there's a slim chance someone is going to understand what the t-shirt means and what you had to do to get it. So there's really going to be no one but yourself to appreciate the t-shirt. And the fact you have to pay that price it's like winning a trophy and paying for the trophy.

5 RepliesSo, a fake imaginary item in a game is a better reward than the chance to buy a shirt that is limited to only people that did this achievement (or the filthy rich) is a better reward for you?
-
They did that for year 2... What were you expecting?

I used to think Nintendo was the best in the business for scamming people (most notably kids or parents of little kids) into buying tonnes of extra crap you didn't really need. Bungie's taken it to a whole new level. They dont' have to give us something super amazing, but some kind of permanent benefit/mark in D2 would be cool. Like how in Final Fantasy 14, when they remade it into A Realm Reborn, all us legacy folks who beat the original story got our REAL NAMES listed in the official credits of the game, as well as our characters getting a cool tatoo on our necks that proves we were there :) (on top of legacy members who subbed during that time having a lifetime discount on the game's subscription fee. I only pay $8/month instead of 13 if I buy the 6-month plan :P but even just the monthly is still $2.00 off - FOR LIFE!) Not every company is as generous or caring as Square-Enix though.

I thought the shirt would be free
-
You know the reward before you complete it. If you knew it was going to suck why did you complete the book anyway?
-
1 ReplyWhat? A tshirt? I was promised a pair of hot pink bootylicious shorts with my gamertag across the back. So disappointed. All that 'grinding' for nothing. Nerfed again.
-
To be honest I wasnt expecting Bungie to give us anything and I wasnt wrong really. Ive not been playing so Im not that bothered about the rewards but for those who have been trying to complete the book its a bit of a kick in the nuts as they have to give them more cash if they want to show their commitment for the completion of the book. Its not worth it for us in the UK anyway as it will probably cost more in duties etc than the t shirt is worth.
-
Seriously what do you expect a free copy of d2 common man . It's a tshirt with your gamer tag on it so you can wear it with pride NERDS
-
Well has it been confirmed there will not be a reward for completing the book in the sequel?
-
I completely disagree. I'd rather have something tangible that represents my time spent in Destiny.
