I just realized this: all the planet exclusive materials relate to the enemy found on that planet:
Fallen: spin metal is bursting out of derelict barrels that used to be used in the golden age.
Hive: the helium filaments are dark and broken when you find them symbolizing a lost light.
Vex: the spirit bloom is unique and we don't understand it.
Cabal: relic iron is dense and hard and has weathered the harsh mars environment.

True but you still don't see structure like this caused by plants which makes it somewhat mystical.

Those are some nice connections, and although they seem like big stretches without proper explanations there really are ways that they relate to the new enemy type introduced on each planet

Sorry I'm having to type on my phone which so I'm trying to type as little as possible. hows this Fallen/spin metal: the fallen were once a great civilization but now are reduced to scavengers. The spin metal was also once a used in a golden age but has now become derelict. These two are similar in that they both have been greatly reduced in stature. Hive/helium filaments: the hive have been made dark and broken and ended our golden age. Helium filaments were once important for our society but are now broken and dark. They are a symbol of golden age having ended. Vex/spirit bloom: the vex are the most unique and least understood race in destiny and are almost mystical. Spirit bloom also unique not understood and mystical. Cabal/relic iron: the cabal are unrelenting and unstopping. They have managed to survive on mars despite the harsh conditions. Relic iron is dense and tough and unbreakable. It has also weathered the unforgiving conditions of mars.
