I am 100% sure that this topic will be lost in the forum page, but nonetheless, i feel obligated to write it anyway. I am not a well known individual or anything like that, as a matter of fact; i am nothing more than a mere casual who enjoys Destiny. What i am here for is a small and friendly reminder to all of my guardian fellows who might stumble upon this thread: TAKE A BREAK. Seriously, take a break from the game. Do not burn your self out. I've played this game religiously for the past 3 years and oh my god do i regret it. My combined 28 days total game play can vouch for my addiction (there were time when i couldnt play) but now i look back at this passion and think "how did i play this?" Please, do not make the same mistake as me and burn yourself out. Take a break, try a different game for a few hours, dont grind for anything in the game, the less you grind for something in the game, the more you'll enjoy the game overall.
Please fellow guardians, dont burn yourselves out, and may the traveler's light guide you towards victory.

Taking a break until new content, or destiny 2 comes out

Been enjoying this game religiously since year 1 and that's because my week consists of other games during the week and trials during the weekend. No reason for me to play this game during the week unless IB or just mess around with friends

This game has been great, i have definitely got a lot of game time out of it. But with all the nerfs and everything being RNG has made this game more work than fun. When i started this game i only did pve, i started pvp because i did everything i wanted to do in pve since i dont raid. Pvp extended the life of this game for me a little bit, even though i never take it seriously. But i dont like Trials and reg crucible is stale now, i think i need to take a break from this until maybe next iron banner so i can finish getting my dudes to 400

1,170+ hours on destiny on both platforms, and almost one hundred days on Halo Reach....

I have been playing Destiny since day 1 but stopped playing Destiny after I hit 400 light on all 3 of my Guardians. I can admit that I'm addicted to Destiny, you only have to look at the amount of time I have spent playing this game. I started playing Overwatch 2 weeks ago and man, very impressive game, not as good as Destiny when it comes to hardcore fps but nonetheless it's a breath of fresh air for me because finally there is a game out there that is able to take my mind of Destiny. P.S. Confession of a Destiny Addict.

130 days 20 hours for me. I don't really regret it.

18 RepliesLol I have 54 days played on just my hunter. I've never burnt out on this game, however I enjoy chasing perfect rolls on armor so I can build my t12 setups . God roll guns not so much, I can't be bothered to grind strikes much. Raids however that's where I enjoy the game the most. Hearing cheers of excitement when the noobs get their first clear after grinding and wiping over and over again. I am gaming less now but that's because of a career change. Regardless it's all about mindset. If all you do is chase max light and burn strikes the game will get boring. Going out of your way to help newer players through raids or less experienced pvp players through trials

2 RepliesIt's not the players that are burning themselves out, it's just that point in Destiny where everything is just dry.

Edited by Zeleros: 1/24/2017 5:18:31 PMI've been playing overwatch pretty much exclusively for the past month (did play during the dawning, but not much), and I'm gonna be completely ready for the next content drop that bungie announces

Destiny isn't bad by any means but what it offers in terms of substance (unless all you do is PvP, and even in that case it's lacking), is just not enough to justify it's "demand" of hours put in. I played probably 60-70% of my hours during Y1. Gjallarhorn grind. Fatebringer, VoC, etc grind. I never felt burned out though for 2 reasons. One, I was probably addicted. But two, it's because almost everything that required a lot of grinding for was OP AF. Like game breaking OP. But that's what made it worth it. Then Y2 came out and it's was good up until all quests were done and until you spent 10 hours on LFG trying to kill oryx for trash loot. That's when I thought, hmm why am I doing this. So since about Dec '15 I've barely played Destiny. And to be honest, I cannot understand why I put so much time into it now. I wasn't having fun like 60% of the time. I was forced to farm and grind and do the same activity over and over and over. I hope Destiny 2 is structured more like a Witcher 3 or ESO. Because if it is like Destiny, well I think a lot of people will be disappointed.

I have over 2k hours

Edited by bakerarmy ♠: 1/24/2017 5:08:02 PMI am not looking at my hours. They are to high. Omg!!! 2218 hours or 13weeks I did pick up yakuza 0, so hopefully I take a 40 hour break

I grind the game constantly and still enjoy it plenty...

I play around 2 days a week. I have been going back to Black Ops 3 and Garden Warfare 2. I play Naruto Storm 4 religiously now

Casual since probably November of year one. Only 17 days 9 hours and have been burnt out repeatedly over the years. Destiny has been probably the most fun game but then also the most infuriating game when the developers change/take away things we love. Also, there us far too much grind, far too much PVP and too little PVE. When Destiny 2 comes out, I'll probably just wait and see if Bungie can write PVE content or if they stick with the easy and game damaging PVP. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy PVP but Bungie has used PVP to make changes game wide which is wrong. Hope either Bungie, or some other company can actually make an open world PVE FPS game that actually also uses the ships for more than an over glorified loading screen. Sorry, little irritable lately.

I've started my break today. I'm so behind on my gaming library it's a little scary. I just bought Kingdom Hearts 2.8, I need to finish both Fallout 4 and Xenoblade Chronicles X, and I haven't even started The Wonderful 101.

1 ReplyMan I've logged more than a 160 days!!holy cow

Not knocking destiny but took a week off and skipped IB for a change. Finally getting some use out of other games purchased that are mostly unplayed or far from completed. Hope to jump back in and do some wrath of machine since I've only finished it once but used to raid a lot on prior raids.

I take breaks often. I get burnt out pretty fast here recently.

I've got like 80 days playtime favorite game ever

4 RepliesThere's nothing to grind for. After year 1, the only grind was if you really wanted to be 320 light before March 2016.

1 Replywell said - I am a Beta Vet and I have put plenty of time into this game, I more than got my money's worth and I will be back when there is more content to do. All my clan have moved on and I hope they'll be back - I know I will. I love the game, but everyone should take a breaks and enjoy others. You are not owned by Destiny or Bungie. my 2 cents.
