I've played since the release, and I freaking love this game! I'm primarily a PVE guy. I tried pvp here and there across the expansions and updates, but I'm kinda sucky at pvp. I used to ROCK at halo 2 back in the day day (I mean stomp people bad, get accused of cheating, etc) but with this bungee pvp experience I find myself struggling to get one kill per death, and that's on a good day!
I've always stayed away from pvp that takes into account attack and defense levels, figured I'd never get a kill. Long story short (too late I know) I finally ran some IB... did pretty well actually! Had fun even when I lost, decent rewards, I got killed by a little bit of everything, and I got kills with snipers shotguns autos and hand cannons.
I didn't notice a meta, I didn't have lag, all my rounds were neck and neck to the end.
It was fun and I'm going to try to squeeze in a little more maybe!
But when you read the posts about "nerf" and "this sucks" and "that's broke", it sure paints an ugly picture on what actually is a really awesome game!
Oh and I want a number 4, plain.
And :)
that's a smiley face, I'm not as fancy as some
And I'm a warlock on outbreak prime quest step 2. Gt is the same.
Have a nice day!

2 RepliesYou didn't notice a meta? You must be blind or a little slow. 50% shotgun, 15% Clever Dragon/Grasp Of Malok, 10% MIDA, 25% random.

Wait wha?! Someone who's positive about IB?!?! WHAT?!?!?

9 RepliesEdited by Black_Widow503: 1/22/2017 9:21:39 PMThere's something called a win/loss ratio and when you play and win say 4 in a row it will put you in matches that have lag and then they add a damage referree for your whole team so you lose 4 in a row, then come your wins again. If you don't win a lot of games in a row you may not experience the lag. It wasn't till after I had over 1.0 and 2.0 k/d and winning in a row in games to experience the problems everyone talks about. You see latency more when you play a lot as opposed to just hopping in once in a while. Try playing crucible for a day, and more than a couple hours, come back, and tell me how you feel about it then. Edit: I don't care about the meta so much as latency because if there were fair matches without lag/damage referee I could adapt and counter the clever and matador supposed meta.

Same. PVE guy, but my son is PVP on same account. However, I always look forward to IB every month. In fact I completed all bounties on all three characters. I always have so much fun playing IB even though I don't play great. I still have year two weapons with great rolls and still use them

2 RepliesIron Banner trips me out. I've think leveled three characters up to around level 4 and probably haven't had more than three games where the end score wasn't within 800 points. Or at least it feels like it. Just one sweat-feast after another. It almost feels like there's some kind of tricky programing running in the background that is always working to keep the games artificially close. Something just doesn't add up.

2 RepliesOnce I hit rank 5, I like to troll other players on my team and intentionally lose and use the celebration emote and dance

IB is the only reason I still hang around even the current format is fun. I only wish the would run IB on a combined arms option that really would be awesome.
-
1 ReplyAwesome! I tell everyone PvE players in particular that Iron Banner is for everyone, sit back relax and don't fret the sweaty teams! Bring a friend or a team of 6.
-
1 ReplyOnly bad players cry and complain. Ignore the little nubs and have fun.
-
Usually when I do PvP, which I haven't done since TTK, it either goes well or I get murdered.
-
1 ReplyI'm with you on iron banner haven't played it since year 1 and said screw it and grabbed a friend and played and surprisingly had a lot of fun and managed to go from *386 to *390 in just 3 games.
-
Isn't it nice when you don't worry about stats or the meta or get butt hurt about getting killed (because god forbid you actually get outgunned in a PvP match). You can actually have fun.
-
2 RepliesHappy for you, don't expect the same with ToO tho. Its a nightmare imo lol

1 ReplyHi I'm Dick I love Bauls snd kittiez

15 RepliesYou're lucky you have a high light to do well in Iron Banner unlike a 365 trying to do Iron Banner. I'm pretty decent at the side of no "level advantages" Crucible.
-
1 ReplyI am starting to close out my Book and need to level up my IB. Glad to hear a non-PVP guy had fun. I dread having to do IB.

2 Repliesa pve guy who doesn't have OP seems legit
jk
2 RepliesI'm not trying to sleight your recent accomplishments in Iron Banner, but you may have just been matched against low skilled players. Skill based matchmaking still exists, albeit to a lesser extent than it has previously. With your limited Crucible experience it may have matched against low skill, non-meta opponents. That being said I'm glad you enjoyed your time in Iron Banner and hope you participate in more Crucible in the future.

1 ReplyEdited by lietenantdan: 1/23/2017 9:52:24 PMIt can be tough to get used to. I use to suck even more than I do now.

I remember that I didn't play ib for almost the first 10 months I had the game. I was crummy at the regular crucible; I figured ib would wipe me out. But I got a little better at regular crucible, so I finally tried it. I was a bit below every else's level (not light at the time), but found out that using "thorn" allowed me to blow everyone away. Of course I didn't know how OP it was at the time. Since then, I've gotten better, used all kinds of different weapons, and enjoy it every time. Except for rift. Rift is simply awful and should be wiped out.

2 RepliesGood to hear! I am a PVE guy who has tried Iron Banner a few times now. It kinda seems daunting when you first start out. If you are a little older like I am, the speed of the other players and the variation in the maps can leave you feeling frustrated. My advice is that all of the pressure of the crucible is just perceived. Finishing at the bottom of the play list with a terrible KD ratio is not important. Most of the Iron banner bounties have been made so that, just by persevering, you can complete them. Everyone should bite the bullet and give it a go. The rewards are good and above all, it's a game, you should have fun when you play it. Great post!

In Regular crucible your light level doesn't matter.

IB was a lot of fun this time around. Glad you enjoyed it!
-
i had i lot of fun to. except my last game like every one was going clever dragon but that was the only game
-
I ran all characters to 5 this week. My only complaint was rush shotgunners. Unless you use a secondary you will lose about half the time.

Iron Banner was pretty fun this time around. I stopped playing this game because of how toxic the game had become with cheap weapon loadouts/lag/ baboon error codes, but I have to say I'm surprised at how much I've been enjoying this game once more the last week or so. Even went flawless twice! (I still don't think people will let me raid at a light level of 396 though -_-) I guess I just burnt myself out a while back, and now this game feels fresh. I'm excited to see how the meta changes with the upcoming patch!
