1 ReplyThey have to make them two separate games that don't effect each other.

1 ReplyThe amount of replies to this post where people say, "nah, I don't feel that way therefore it isn't" and whom think that "PVE focused" means pve only is simply ridiculous. Plenty of polls and bungie reports since release have showed an extreme majority of players did in fact show most players played PVE only, let alone PVE mostly. And these have already been linked in comments to OP. Haven't been to these forums in months but I see the blatant self-entitlement and ignorance is still rampant...

1 ReplyEverything was new and there was sooo much to grind for. After year 1 you could just buy the exotics you actually used and they made getting the rest far too easy. No reason to grind same old strikes if you don't need the gear. Also raid gear being only used for infusion made repeating that pointless. That's why I'm hoping for a complete reset with Destiny 2. Wanting to try all the gear and Bungie having a better story telling system should make that first year really good for PVE.

2 RepliesI'll agree that Destiny has never come close to realising its potential. I'll agree that PvE has been set asside for PvP. I will never say much of anything good about year 1. It was bland, repetitive, poorly written and very light on content. It was fun because it was new and the shooter mechanics were good... it was a lifeless shell of a game that Bungie has been trying to fill out ever since with varying degrees of success. If we were still playing vanilla Destiny this game would be dead in the water. This isn't high praise for the DLC'S and updates, I've found them to be pretty lacking as well. Year 1 was a rip-off. The year we discovered that we had been mislead by a brilliant marketing team who inflated our expectations and drastically under delivered. Year one was the year where our good faith was taken advantage of the most. No. I will never look fondly on the year where I was expected to be okay with a paper thin story, and zero character developement because they didn't even take the time to explain why they didn't have time to explain. The game has filled out since, but IMO it still under delivers on the things I expected of this game since year one. Those are a better story and and a richer RPG feel. I think the game has gotten better since launch, just not in the ways that I personally care that much about. It still feels lifeless, repetitive and slow. That doesn't mean evryone should hate it... loads of people clearly love it, but Vanilla was bland almoat across the board. The only thing it had going for it was the hope and excitement that comes with a new game. For many guardians that hope and excitement have become jaded skepticism. You might be able to tell that I fall into that latter group. I'd love to see a larger focus on PvE moving foreward but I doubt the Bungie that exists today will wow me. D2 is the litmus test. I hope it's worth buying.

2 RepliesI wouldn't call 5 story missions and a raid pve focused. Only thing pvp ever gets is new maps and ...that's it.
-
they should just bring reforging back and i would never do strikes... pvp is what saved this game if there was no pvp no one would play strikes or get loot for their (god rolls) to go in to pvp to test out what they had farmed for months or even years. so pvp is pretty much the end game content.... you farm pve to get good shit for pvp... you dont pve to get good shit to pve that is just boring as hell... what you want to clear the raid in 40 minutes instead of 45? please pvp is the game pve is just there to have people kill time shooting non challenging AI to farm....

12 RepliesDestiny was never PvE focused
-
It was never PvE focused. Destiny has always been an all-inclusive concept.
-
2 RepliesMmm and the. Crucible.. i think more people play crucible than pve
-
2 RepliesYou remember when PvP was a consistent and balanced enviornment?
Yeah, me niether.
-
12 RepliesI agree. Crucible is actually pretty bad right now with all the try hard losers who have nothing better to do. And the weapon balancing is an absolute joke. The Matador has been running rampant for months now. Bungie needs to clean up there act for the time being until Destiny 2 comes out & hopefully they've learned to balance properly.

totally agree.
-
PvP should be omitted.
-
1 ReplyIt's always been PvE focused, that's why PvP sucks
-
Totally agree, most of the bitching has been caused by pvp.
-
Bungie's constant pandering to the PVP base has ruined the game
-
They could rip PvP out completely and I wouldn't bat an eye. I bought this game for PvE.
-
1 ReplyPvE is the better aspect of the game.

10 RepliesEdited by Mango: 1/16/2017 4:14:12 PMOn the state of PvE, its better now then how it was before. It was better in year 1? Wut? The Crotas End Raid, everyone so claims was a good raid. Was the worst raid I've ever seen. Its a legit strike that can be run with 6 people. When it comes to content. You only got 1 strike. House of Wolves was better in PvP because of re-rolling. Almost everyone hated Prison of Elders just because how hard it was. And even then you only had 4 missions with 2 strikes. Mean while theirs a actual story in year 2 now with the taken king. You gotten way more missions and 4 strikes. You gotten challenge of Elders. You had free timed events that weren't really fun but introduced SRI with more content than in year 1. In PvE we finally got super buffs and our content got bigger and looked better with new and revamped strikes from year 1. With Rise of iron its pretty much the same grasp. And even now, revamped versions of the old raids will be out soon. We got super buffs and ability buffs in PvE. Content in PvE is far better now then year 1. We are far stronger then year 1 as well.

1 ReplyEdited by sergeantsnipes05: 1/16/2017 2:09:33 AMIt wasn't that PVE focused in year one.... Alteast not any more than it is now. People showed up for the PVE but stayed for the PVP. Three of coins not being a thing just put a bigger emphasis on actually doing ALL the PVE content on all characters to get exotics where as now I've run two nightfalls this past year, WoTM a few times, and haven't done Kings fall since the April update. Get rid of 3oC and everyone would be running 3 nightfalls, 3 kings fall clears, and 3 WoTM clears. More people would probably be doing trials too

1 ReplyOne of the 13-inch nails that screwed over a growing Raid set was the sudden dropping of the HOW Raid (Apr 2015). PvE Momentum lost focus & subsequently fractured as Trials came into being.

I wanna do Crota vog but nobody's interested cause of low light rewards Crota is a solo but that's not the same the fun we had timing things getting things right an vog oh that used to be so frustrating everyone had to be on it

1 ReplyEdited by iDovahBear: 1/16/2017 1:07:20 PMAs much as I think there's a way to balance but not ruin PvP, having played since Year 1 it's easy to say that PvE was the best thing for them to focus on. People loved the Raids and new raid-like features. They preferred the Year 1 content cycle to whatever garbage we're putting up with for now. And it's not to say PvP can't be in the game, or tolerated. But that making it the focus kills diversity and inevitably drives a wedge between the majority casual audience and the very few people who are PvP 'only'. But I agree completely that PvP should be second to PvE, and that it shouldn't ever infringe upon PvE balances. At no point should a nerf for PvP reasons ever even have bearing on PvE. If we so much as do 1 less damage because of a PvP nerf, it's wasteful and negligent on Bungie's behalf. Other than that, I'm just hoping for some actual buffs. Let's hope Destiny 2 goes back to the PvE focus and shelves PvP as a secondary feature.

2 RepliesI don't get why they can't just sperate the weapons in PvE and PvP. It'd be much easier to balance since they wouldn't need to balance it for two different activities.

2 RepliesWhat killed PVE in my opinion is the raid guns starting with King's Fall and continuing on to the current raid. VOG and Crota (no matter how you feel about the raids) had epic raid guns that had lower RNG based drops. It kept us grinding and wanting to get those guns. They had elemental primaries which were awesome for nightfalls and strikes (back when nightfalls were a challenge and worth doing.) it's a shame cause I actually thought king's fall and WOTM were actually fun raids. But the loot (especially guns) were garbage. The need to satisfy their hard core PVP crowd also nerfed most of our favorite PVE guns into the ground.
