Nightfalls actually used to be challenging. When your fire team wiped, you'd get returned to orbit and would have to retry. I remember doing my first nightfall and I was sweating like crazy. In this regard, also increase the drop of GOOD gear and get rid of legendary gauntlets, helmets etc. in the loot table. Also give us the blue flame buff after finishing one.
Make nightfalls great again!
Cheers everyone!
Edit: Holy moly! We're trending fast! Keep it going ya'll!
Edit 2: Its funny how people say that only "hardcore" players want Y1 NFs back. If i remember correctly, I am anything but one. Yes, I'm day one, yes I ONCE soloed Valus in Y1 after 2 1/2 hrs. But i only started raiding a month before RoI came out. I also only completed WotM once on normal. Imo Bungo isn't catering to enough to people that play the game for longer periods of time.
Edit 3: A lot of people don't want to return to orbit when they wipe, but much rather restart at the beginning, which is perfectly fine. And it is a lot better!

Agreed, I want my Blue swurlly hair back !!! 😠

1 ReplyLightswitch+burns was a living hell, but it was so much fun lol

If you think that year 1 loot drops from the Nightfall was good, you don't remember correctly.
-
Are people not understanding that the NF by default will just be easier because we can go past its level without doing it, the NF isn't the problem is that we can be 380 just by doing strikes and using engrams, make it 390 and you'll see the difference.

1 ReplyMy opinion on this would be to leave the Nightfall as it is, and bring Elders back to prominence, with all the enemies at 400 light. Here, at least, you wouldn't get kicked back to orbit, you would just have to start the round over again. Make all the rounds and modifiers random. That way, if you wipe, you don't get a second chance at the same thing, but a different challenge. Give drops up to 400 as rewards, and give a ton of Judgment rep so you can rank up by the end of one run for multiple chances to earn Reef weapons. I just don't want to make myself sick of strikes. The randomness of Elders I think is a positive, but the only challenging thing about Prison now is the Taken version. The other thing they need to do to help elders is to make the enemies spawn at random from doors so that the adds incoming can surprise you. In fact, let them spawn from the main door, too.
-
Nah. They are fine the way they are

2 RepliesNo. I solo'd them constantly in year one and not a damned one of them was enjoyable. You want a challenge? Downgrade some gear and return to orbit when you fail, You're welcome.
-
All during Year 1 I was not very inclined to participate in Nightfalls due to the modifier. I felt that I could invest X amount of time into the activity, only to have that time revoked and be forced to start over. From Taken King onwards, I actually was saying "Sure! I'll hop in." when friends asked if I wanted to help in the Nightfall. Was it because I was finally a high enough light-level? No, it was because I wasn't afraid I'd be burning X amount of time on a wipe. It meant I could play more relaxed and actually try to enjoy myself. How would you feel if a team wipes in a Raid they have to restart at the previous segment, such as redoing Vosik if they wipe at the Siege Engine? I certainly wouldn't. You don't want your time wasted and Bungie addressed that making the game more geared towards the players who don't have the capability to invest so much time in the game. The MAJORITY. The game is catered towards the majority and I'm fine with that. It means that there are more people able to genuinely enjoy their time in the game and seems good to me.

4 RepliesNo. Some dont have time to invest hours on a NF because of wipes back to orbit. I guarantee if NF reverts back there would be a major decline in partcipation.
-
Yeah bring gjallahorn and solar burn back lets melt thr bosses with in seconds.
-
I honestly don't know what you are all about. Last year I could solo the night Falls. Now I can't even get close.
-
2 hour Valus!? The hell were you using a slingshot!?
-
Back in my day the nightfall was actually worth while. Who remembers?
pepperidge farm remembers

just getting that out of the way
-
Only if they add cheese spots to every strike so I can solo the nightfall again.

6 RepliesI also love how the OP complains Bungie isn't catering to long term players, yet openly admits he hasn't even completed all of the newest content. Seriously? :D :D :D Quoted from ESS176: "Yes, I'm day one, yes I ONCE soloed Valus in Y1 after 2 1/2 hrs. But I only started raiding a month before RoI came out. I also only completed WotM once on normal. Imo Bungo isn't catering to enough to people that play the game for longer periods of time." Way to contradict your own argument.

bump agreed

1 ReplyYear one I was soloing nightfalls three times every week. I can't solo them now so no they weren't more challenging year 1. I don't know where everyone gets this from.
-
I just want the flaming head back after completion.
-
One of the main reasons people did the nightfall in year one was for exotics. We have 3 of coins now. Resetting nightfalls to year one style would just make it harder, and unless they can come up with some kind of new, interesting reward, I don't want to make the nightfall any harder for no benefit.
-
Back when nightfall/raids/xur were the only exotic sources, sure. But no thanks in the current state, the risk just wouldn't be worth the reward. I don't think they'll bring back the experience bonus, they didn't introduce the 5 motes per prestige level until they removed it.
-
5 RepliesNightfalls in year one were a joke they were easily done because all of our gear was op and we had Gjallarhorn. In year three nightfalls are more challenging because there's no where to hide in the boss rooms and our guns are all pea shooters
-
Year one nightfalls were way easier to solo.
-
2 RepliesDon't bother, bungie just caters to casuals who should've just stuck to strikes but ended up ruining raids, nightfalls, pvp and any once unique and strong weapon/class in general with their whining just cos it was 'too hard'
you know it's true
