No matter what way it's spun. Every complaint about trials boils down to a simple complaint.
"I shouldn't have to play people better than me".
There are only 3 answers to any complaint.
1. Accept that because you aren't that skilled you'll lose more than you win.
2. Get good.
Or
3. Stay out of multiplayer.

The ultimate version of this is that only 1 team makes it to the LH. Now that would be interesting. One team per week, period.
I wonder if you would enjoy that
-
They would have to extend the course. Over exclusive weapons to the winners. And force people to enter if teams with schedule matches that you get disqualified for if you leave. I wouldn't mind. But the casuals would.
Never been to the lighthouse huh? Bet you would enjoy that.
-
If I go by clan mates, and what I read here casuals do not play ToO any more. Regarding your spoiler I can honestly say idgf about reaching the LH. Won't make me a better man, better husband, better father, better co-worker or a better anything. Destiny is a game, I treat it as such.
-
If everyone would treat it as a game no one would be here whining about the lighthouse...
-
I did not read the OP's post as a whinge, but whatever. Cheers
-
Wrong.
-
Not really but ok.
Most of the people that tend to disagree should really follow the 3 option.
-
Again, wrong.
-
Your salt blinds you. Good day sir.
-
Wrong again. Later!

This is not true. I have been flawless multiple times in each year and meta and I have a team willing to run with me whenever I want. But this is different than getting a raid done or playing iron banner. There are people who make it their life goal to keep people out of the lighthouse. That's pathetic and stupid. And it's worse when people offer recovs or paid carries ON THESE VERY FORUMS. That's wrong. People should treat the lighthouse like a raid. Do your runs on your characters and then be done. Don't purposefully try to crush the dreams of other players. Because that's just being a dick. Again you will probably say that I am one of these "bad players" but I have no problem going flawless with my team so it will do you no good to say that.
-
*sigh* Notice how this wouldn't be a problem for these people if they wouldn't face better teams... Like I said, all these complaints only exist because people are getting beat by better players.
-
No. People are getting beat by the same better players over and over and over again on different accounts or recovs. That wrong. It's just as bad as the people who are doing paid carries. Sure those people could try to get better and maybe they might beat a team or two and make it to seven or eight wins but there are people who literally do nothing but play trials over and over again with the sole purpose of ruining the experience for other players. I've seen it before. Then they message people "thanking" them for the ELO and KD boosts. It's pathetic.
-
Sigh. Notice how this wouldn't be a problem if the losers weren't salty.
-
SIGH SIGH SIGH SIGH Yes it is still a problem.
SIGH SIGH SIGH SIGH
-
Not really
-
It's not that simple. I wish it was.
-
It kinda is. None of these complaint would exist if players either realized they weren't good enough to go. Or just improved to where they could get the wins.
-
I don't think you read the post and that's fine it was long. It wasn't about "not wanting to play better players" A. I gave an detailed account on how I went flawless in year one. To anyone who has gone will understand that my claim is sincere, by nature of the detail provided. If not they can check my stats. This is to show that I have the will and ability to compete. B. I explained that the victory meant something to me and my team. C. I then contrasted the meaning of our victory with the meaning for an elite player who is running trials for the express purpose to get views or make money on paid carries(most likely after obtaining all the gear and ornaments on multiple accounts). For these players, a flawless run means about as much as a standard pub stomp in the crucible. D. The spirit and premise of the post was not designed to provide solutions or changes, it was to draw and parallel and contrast it. It ends with where I see trials in the future... Analogues with a snake eating its own tail. The same people playing each other for hollow victories until only the most elite are left, who ultimately leave after their cannon fodder and freebie victories are no longer available. Because they sure and they hell aren't there for the excitement or gear.
-
*sigh* Bungie already stated the lighthouse isn't for everyone. The spirit of a competition is for the better teams to win. If you are losing to the same players. Streamers or not. They are the better players. It doesn't matter why they are going flawless. It doesn't matter if people are doing it for views, money, or to just keep people out. None of these complaint would exist if the people being kept out weren't salty. Hell, none of these complaints would exist if the people being kept out followed and accepted any of my 3 proposed options. All of these complaints come from salt. Not from there being an actual problem in trials. It's a competition. And in every single event, game, sport where people compete there are the winners and the losers. They also happen to be the same people until the losers step up.

I feel like that your argument is closer to your initial criticism of my post, you're dressing it in more words, most of which are off subject, but what you're really saying is "Git Gud Scrub" The fact of the matter is, elite players complained that Trials was not elite enough, so it was changed. The changes had negative effects that are not encompassed by simply saying people are pissed because they aren't good enough. Negative changes that have nothing to do with skill gap: 1. Increased lag at higher card positions due to narrowing of player pool. I don't understand how anyone who tout the virtues of competition would want anymore randomness added. 2. Increased instances of cheating such as DOS attacks. 3. A greater number of players going flawless, via carries, who would've otherwise never been able to have pull off the effort detailed in my post. This fact alone contradicts every notion of Trials being for the "best of the best" and damages the competitive integrity of the mode all together, rendering the entire affair meaningless. These are things that people in the community, of all skill levels have complained about. I do feel that there are plenty of posts about trials that your argument fits with... As of now, our exchange is akin to you trying to jam a square block into a triangle hole. Perhaps it it your true intention to silence me with ridicule, and make me feel inferior, but it is unnecessary. I already feel alienated and locked out of this portion of content. As far as what BUNGIE says is their intention for the mode, I could care less. I disagree with their vision and it is only them who have to deal with increased moderation of cheaters in-game, and more moderation on the recruitment forums for paid carries(which is in direct breach of the bnet TOS).
-
Also no one asked for lag. No one asks to be DDosed. Lag is unavoidable in online games. And anyone manipulating the game should be punished accordingly. No one is defending the cheaters.
-
These things increased when the matchmaking changed... It doesn't take a genius to see the correlation.
-
Trials has had the same amount of lag since the get go. https://destinytrialsreport.com/ps/PrimRoseHavoc/SNYDER2NYCE/xGeArZz-_- You can see for yourself how much I've played.
