Hi,
anyone playing ToO can split its experience in 3 tiers:
0-4 wins: beside the unlucky match, you get matched quite fairly to average players.. (1400-1500 ELO max)
5-6 wins: you get matched with 1700-1900 teams.. matches start to become more sweatier..
7-9+ wins: you EXCLUSIVELY get matched against 1900+ ELO teams
with the shrink of the userbase (less mixed pve/pvp players and more try harder) the 7+ win became defacto a barrage to any average teams. (1200-1500 ELO) .
Bungie , could you please review the 7+ win matchmaking range ? we shouldn't be matched with
2000+ players doing carry all the week end or just pub stomping for the fun of it given the smaller user base.
you have several solutions to this:
- introduce more SBMM past 7 wins.
- put characters who achieved flawless in a separate matchmaking pool
- remove the 7-9+ bracket altogether and make it 0-4 and 5-9+
people are getting tired of this try hard mode and that's all what is left to do in destiny right now..
edit: according to guardian.gg there is 40000 flawless account across both PS4 et xbox each week.
currently someone with ELO 1700 is rank 23,079 in ToO playlist on PS4 alone.
this mean that the average ELO of team going flawless is likely in the 1800+..
edit2: so 70% agree that ToO MatchMaking s broken and the only who doesn't are certainly the top30% or people who don't even play the mode. fair enough i would say.. @Deej @Lars Bakken and Derek Carroll we know nothing will change for destiny 1 but take this into account for destiny 2. You can't keep something fair when the base assomption are different because of the players defects which in this case is mainly due to the matchmaking alone.

More like 70% who cant go flawless an look for an easier option and the other 30% doesnt give a sh*t
"introduce more SBMM past 7 wins"

"introduce more SBMM"

"SBMM"
You people were crying about SBMM for fücking forever, and now you want it more involved again..... This "community" is fücked in the head

2 RepliesIf you're not a good player, the lighthouse isn't for you. Bungies words not mine (I'm paraphrasing). This mode is for players who are REALLY good. It's competition for them. So stop. Just stop.
-
2 RepliesI don't think it's "unfair" but at the same time I also find it to be an incredibly poor implementation of a so called competitive mode. Here's the thing, you want people to queue but with the current system there's really no point for a lot of players. They know from start that unless they come across people who give away wins on purpose or everyone they go up against happen to DC they're not going to consistently win or even win 5 matches, with buffs. Hence, I would have liked to see a total revamp - and I don't expect one in this Destiny title. 1. Replace the gametype. LMS is in itself not a popular gametype and on top of that it's also the most unforgving one - especially if you are playing with someone who's even worse than yourself and inevitably will die early on. A standard 4 vs 4 (assuming D2 has better maps) with respawns would have been so much better. 2. Replace the current 9 win requirement with either seasons or some weekly goal. Sure, it might take away some of the bragging rights but in a game as casual as Destiny and where everything has been dumbed down to cater to average Joe - who only comes online to play for an hour once every two weeks - I dont see why it would matter. Especially if ranked is introduced next to it or the game is fixed to give the sweatiest of the sweaty an extrenal platform - such as GB/LMG - to play on. 3. Regardless of the revamp, introduce some form of token system so that people people who arent able to reach the direct loot requirements atleast have some longterm goals and keep playing.

Elo does not make a good team every time. Everybody says not to judge based off Elo and flawless is not something everyone is entitled to. You need to work for it. Eventually I will go flawless again
-
1 ReplyElo isn't even a stat from this game. A third party site calculates it. Matchmaking isn't done off of elo and elo doesn't mean much. I've shit on kids with 2500 and got destroyed by people under 2000 (I'm 2250 myself)
-
1 ReplyI stopped playing because I didn't have dedicated team and lfg is seriously toxic.
-
There isn't enough of a playerbase to implement changes like this. Games are laggy enough as it is. Splitting the matchmaking pool would only make connections worse.
-
I stopped playing because it's boring. Every single game is either a sweat-fest, or a camp-fest. I sit in parties with my "sweaty" friends and listen as they play, and it's non-stop rage and complaining. Meanwhile, I'm wrapping up my FFXV vaults, or laid-back running strikes wondering if I can top my current 'Heroic High Score' tally. Also, the armor is ugly, the ornaments are stupid, and the weapons suck.
-
5 RepliesTrials is just boring now tbh poeple literally just avoid you camp skorris then run out with their super it's pretty annoying
-
11 RepliesSo it's unfair because people are better than you?
-
All of the people who win in trials defend it Everyone who can't bashes it We're all biased, but I guarantee if the roles were flipped we would all including myself have the opposing argument.

37 RepliesEdited by albinomachina: 1/9/2017 9:53:41 PMI never played ToO because I'm not good enough to do well at it. Does that mean I think it should be changed to make it easier for me? No. Absolutely not. It's not for people like me. And that's how it should be. It's not a participation award like Iron Banner. If you're like me and aren't good enough to get to the lighthouse you have two options: 1 - accept that you're not going to the Lighthouse and just deal with it or 2 - get a fireteam together, practice and get better till you can go flawless I'm 41 years old and I can tell you one thing: no-one's going to give you anything in life. Either work hard and earn it or give up. But don't ask for free handouts. or option 3 save up your money and pay someone for a carry till you get there.
-
To be fair, I have the most fun playing the hardest competition. Having 40 ish flawlesses getting there isn't even the fun part for me anymore. I enjoy keeping high win cards and playing stacked looking for others
-
6 Replieselo can be farmed... maybe: LH visits should only be possible three times, or how many characters each player has.
-
I loved no revive trials
-
I caught myself actually trying one day, then I realized it was just a video game. Haven't played trials since.
-
I stopped playing because the meta isn't fun. Not because of strong teams because no matter what kinda day I'm having or who I'm up against, I'll win more than I'll lose & rarely need to restart a card. No the matchmaking isn't balanced because the game mode (& game in general) isn't competitive. Do you really think people would be carrying 4 year olds to the lighthouse if matchmaking was actually competitive? Regardless though I used to play a lot, this is my second account & I have over 120k kills on my other one. Though playing these days when a primary means absolutely nothing is just not fun, when not having a shotty as your special makes you a detty its time to stop.

1 ReplyI'm not getting tired of trials being tryhard mode. In fact that's what makes it intense. But what I am getting tired of is these same repetitive post. Boring.
-
I don't have difficulty going flawless, I can go whenever I want but looking at guardian.gg says it all. It's too hard for a vast majority of the player base. This weekend over half a million accounts played trials yet something like only 35K accounts actually went flawless. Seems a little lopsided dontcha think?
-
There isnt a fairer game mode.
-
1 ReplyTrials is meant for tryhards and sweaties. It's the whole point of the gamemode. But I stopped because of the lag and lack of weapon diversity. It gets kind of old seeing the same loadouts literally every match. That, doubled with teleporting/invincible enemies, kinda burned me out. Until Bungie properly balances the weapons, and/or gets better servers, I don't think I'll touch it again.
-
3 RepliesLeave it as is. It's end game pvp. If you can't make it then that's YOUR PROBLEM AN MEANS GIT GUUD SCRUBS
-
4 RepliesNo keep it tough. It's not for everybody. And as it stands, its the one true activity that actually rewards you for skill. For actually being good and doing well. I'm not good at it. Haven't played it much at all. I want to, and I know it will be a challenge. But its up to me to train up to meet the challenge, not up to Bungie to lower the bar because I'm a mouthbreather at trials.
-
I agree with your whole post. Very accurate. I keep playing for fun but come up against pure sweat teams after 7 wins
