When I go to choose destination the Taken King and Rise of Iron only allow me to see a cinematic of the content. I can't choose anything on either to do. Is there something I'm missing? Do these only show up based on a previous mission? When I used the code to download them, it says it's installed but one file size is 9.5mb one is 10mb. It's like I haven't downloaded the actual game content.

This post may help. It's a list of all the missions, strikes and raids in the story order. https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/220053810/0/0/1

Edited by Kell of Kellogs: 1/6/2017 3:12:24 PMAll the content is access by unlocking quests and missions. You have a quest called The Taken King which takes you onto Phobos (Mars' moon). This quest chain is from a The Taken King DLC. You may need to be a higher light level to play Rise of Iron content. The DLC content is not a separate map in orbit, it's the same solar system with certain (DLC) destinations on each planet.

Oh so it's not something you can just jump in and go straight to? I guess that makes sense. I will just continue on story mode then. One other quick thing. Is there any way to strike missions solo? I have a level 10 Devil's Lair story mission I've been bypassing because I am not a big online player. I just want to do the mission myself, but no matter what I do, it always comes wants to add 3 players to my"team". It really baffles me that I can't do this solo.
-
There is no way to change strikes to not have match making. They always default to find you players.
-
That is very frustrating. So I will just never to be able to do that level 10 story or any strikes. Not all of us players like multiplayer. It's a shame I have to lose out on content because I'm forced to play it a certain way. Oh well. No strikes for me I guess.

Edited by WoofinAintEazy: 1/6/2017 3:54:26 PMWell the whole game has always been about co-op and matchmaking. That is basically what the whole game was built for. If you don't do strikes you won't be getting much progression done in the game.
-
There should always be an option to do missions solo. If a game is multiplayer only, I don't buy it. I gave Destiny a shot because of the story. But if progressing past a certain point requires teams, then i will just not do it.
-
You can run stories solo and run the Nightfall Strike solo (good luck), but almost everything else has automatic matchmaking. Should of researched this game a little more my friend, this game relies on it's matchmaking and co-op play.
-
I've enjoyed the story missions so far. I am completely fine doing everything solo until I can't anymore. Hen I will move on to the next game. Multiplayer is WAY overrated.
-
I don't understand it, what about the multiplayer don't you like?
-
Multiplayer, for me, is a never ending barrage of trash talking and playing against people who live online and play. I'm a casual player, I have a family to worry about and if I ever were to play multiplayer, I want to be matched up with players at my skill level. Granted, I am not a world class elite first person shooter player, but anytime I've tried multiplayer on any game, I'm immediately turned off by the incessant trash talking, dying every three seconds, so forth and so on. And it's not just about me becoming a better player, it's more about people who spend every waking hour playing and they're a level 80 and I try to come in at level 20 and there is no balancing at all. I will always prefer single player campaigns over multiplayer because I can play at my level and not be forced to wave the white flag because the match making dynamic sucks.

Edited by WoofinAintEazy: 1/6/2017 7:25:03 PMThe only multiplayer part of the game where you fight others is crucible. Every other matchmaking part is cooperative, not competition or anything!! I liked solo games like you, but this is different than what you're thinking. Also the multiplayer part is balanced so levels don't matter, unless you're doing a specific game mode.
-
Honestly the co-op and end game content makes the game. You're basically playing 1/4 of the game. The co-op in this game is actually very good, and rather enjoyable in my opinion.
-
I won't be finding out. I'm not doing any multiplayer strikes or crucible.
-
The entire Destiny game is online. That's why you sometimes see other players when you are even doing the planetary missions. If you come across others you can help them and vise verse. You are never actually solo. When you clear a planet you can do patrols, which is free-range mode, and that's where you'll do most of the public events. These you will almost always end up doing with other players because they seek them out. You aren't always in a fire team but you are pretty much always multiplayer. The strikes (Devils Lair etc) are matchmaking required. If you have 2 other friends to join you then join with them first and then do the strike, then you have no randoms. Even with randoms, I've always enjoyed the mission and you don't need a mic - you just work towards the same goal. For the record, I don't like pvp or mp much either, but with the right people it's can be enjoyable.
-
What system are you on?? I can group up with you and kind of show you what it's about. I play strictly for fun, and enjoy helping others in game. I just don't want you to miss out on the real part of the game that is still just as relaxing as solo play.
-
Haha alright, enjoy the few hours of story my friend.
-
You don't have to mic up or anything. Most people don't. Your going to find that you are going to run across other guardians while doing most things you do beyond the story missions. I was hesitant at first myself, but in strikes the other guardians might as well be bots on your side.
