Thoughts on Weapon Balance
I spoke with the Sandbox team that balances the weapons in the game. This is part of a running dialogue between us where I make sure they receive your feedback. They wanted to give you some information about their process.

As we wage wars in our playtest labs, we’re taking a lot of things into account: player data, your feedback, and our own gameplay experiences. We’ve heard the conversation about, and felt for ourselves, shotgun dominance (Yes, we see you Matador 64), but we feel strongly that our goal shouldn’t be to nerf them into the ground. Instead, we’re looking at solutions that could bring shotguns into a better state of balance with the rest of the guns in the game. In doing this, we would still want Shotguns to be effective and fun to wield. We could quickly and easily break shotguns and call it a day, but it’s important to us that we explore positive changes that can make Destiny better for everyone.

The right time and place for a deployment of Sandbox changes is something we’ll investigate further in the new year. In the meantime, our playtest labs are home to a process we’re using to explore the current state of combat in Destiny.

15 Repliesim preatty sure yall get this alot or if not i guess not many people have a problem with but lightning grenades are to damn strong all it takes is two burst to kill just about anything and that cool whatever i dont care about that the thing that gets me is the insane cone range that it has along with its damaged being increased to 66% the cone range is ridiculous. I dont know maybe its just me maybe im just complaning but atleast go into crucible to see if yall see wat happens all the time. please and thank you

Put bloom on shotguns the range nerf on universal remote was great.

I am not sure what they can do about weapons balancing! Something will always stand out! But at the moment, if you don't use the quickest ttk weapon than you will lose 90% of the gun fight lol! It is very sad! Hundreds of weapon but you can only use like 5 of them lol!

6 RepliesJust reduce the amount of special ammo people get. Shotguns are fine, but a player shouldn't be able to primary one the whole game. Just make a system in which they only get about, say 3 or 4 shots per life and then make the ammo crates come like once per match Shotguns fixed

Edited by MadEngineer102: 1/1/2017 6:28:22 PMFor weapon changes id like to see raid primary weapons return with element damage I still find myself using my year one fatebringer and I love it. fix some of the perks what I mean by this is I have skip rounds on 2 sniper rifles and it says skip rounds allows you to carry more ammo in reserve and yet I have chest and legs that increase my sniper ammo and I carry the same amount (of sniper ammo) as a sniper without skip rounds. also I think for the most part the weapons are fine maybe a few tweaks for auto rifles reduce the bloom on hand cannons a bit and fix or address the perks for the descriptions of them or the effects.

Thoughts? Abandon your support for this game and concentrate your efforts on D2. On your way out the door, give us one last update that removes every update since HoW so we can have fun while we wait. [spoiler]not trying to be salty... I love this game, but every update, "balance", and tweak to matchmaking seems to only make PvP worse and drive more of my friends away[/spoiler]

Everything has been nerfed into the ground - the game has become so stale. Buff everything and let us have fun/variety.

How about disable invectives and universal remote from crucible, and start crucible matches with zero special ammo. Have it spawn at 2 minute intervals. In trials/elim/skirmish, spawn with zero and leave the crates to spawn as is. Fixed.

More thoughts from me. Already mentioned the 7-8% buff for heavy pulse rifles. Young Wolf's Howl: Unlike many, I'm very satisfied with this weapon. But let's reduce ammo consumption on special attack from 10 to 5, so it can at least compete with other exotic swords. Khvostov: Increase damage in semiauto mode to be comparable to fastest-firing Scout. Chaperone: Increase range so that it outreaches the Matador (maxed out range) by at least 25%

12 RepliesBuff the last word Give me the chaperone Remove the penalty for dying during jolly holiday quest because you know fine well the last word is useless especially against those OP pulse rifles and the cross mapping shotguns. You should give me no land beyond, just because of all the stress I'm suffering from playing this unbalanced mess. I want my jolly holiday quest to be at least 90% next time I log on, since I've obviously been cheated. I want a new sparrow that's faster than anyone else's and built like a fallen walker to stop noobs throwing me off the map during races. 1000 3 of coins with an exotic drop rate of 2 coins per exotic since you fcuked me over on that front 2 weeks in a row now. Fix the plagueland patrol quest and give me a new exotic for the inconvenience. I want you to pay someone to carry me to a flawless trials victory. Carry me through kings fall because I can't get it done as nobody plays it. Implement a mandatory IQ test upon entering wrath of the machine. If you die during a heroic strike you get no rewards because you've just ruined someone's flawless medal bounty and you deserve NOTHING! I want my competitive spirit book at 100% next time I log on too, I only need to do tricks in races and it's finished but I can't be bothered tbh, like most of this game it's a waste of time. I want kids to stop fcuking my mum, she must be getting sore by now. If destiny 2 is going to continue to be a subscription based service then please let me know in advance and I can make an informed decision on whether or not I should commit to another 3 year of recycled content and a horrible PvP dominated by 1 weapon. I want people to stop claiming the last of us and uncharted are the greatest games ever made, honestly bungie the 2 most overrated games ever, hell destiny is better than both and that's saying something. No man's sky is the greatest game ever made. Fact.

How about you leave shotguns alone and buff snipers again? Shotguns are really not that great. Buff fusion rifles and snipers and there you have it balance is restored to special, please no more nerfs on any weapons and subclasses. There must be people out there that are happy with balance right now and actually have fun with different weapons?

Can we ask them to fix lag first please, playing destiny is like bunny hopping. I understand bungie wants the whole world to play together and be nice but I don't think anybody likes get killed through the wall or be at disadvantage against some red bar.

pulse with head bashing rounds... you can't compete with any other weapon by the time you've hit 2 your aim is 20 feet above his head.
