Not my words, those of the Bungie lead pvp designer, Mantis:

It's attitudes like that which make me throw money at the screen
Edit:
Another thread in #Destiny, started before mine about the same tweet, if people want to see others thoughts, and share their ideas their too:

O trials, how my first match is always against a sweaty flawless team
-
12 RepliesI agree that the Lighthouse was not intended for everyone to make it there. That being said, I find it a little strange that the "average" gamer is not going to get some of the best weapons and gear. Here is my thought process on this - The best players get the best gear and become even better. The "average" players do not get that gear and now compete against the best players using the best gear. I think of this as the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer scenario. It is not that all Lighthouse weapons are superior, but some of the rolls are REALLY good and are certainly better than other options. I guess my question is, does anyone need a third that wants to take all three characters to the Lighthouse on a weekly basis? I have been there plenty of times but am in no way someone that would carry others. I am a great third to round off a team. I have a list of people that go to the Lighthouse every weekend on all three characters but asking them every weekend to run another time after they have already done it for many of their friends can become annoying. Does anyone go to the Lighthouse each weekend and would be cool with running another one to three times? I am looking for a regular team not just a one time thing.

1 ReplyIt should be renamed The Sauna because of all the sweaty scrubs there.
-
38 RepliesJust a thought... 9 wins, 0 losses = usual rewards 9 wins, 3 losses = access to LH, chest grants armor/weapon, no Flawless emblem, no ornament, no adept weapon.
-
I am an average player, and I agree that average players shouldn't be able to go to the lighthouse. Sure, many counter-claims can be made, but the game design upholds the elitist the have really earned their status.

51 RepliesWhy should I be barred from content in a game I purchased? I bought this content I don't see why I shouldn't. Personally I couldn't care less about making it to the lighthouse I hate the pvp in this game I only do it for quests and shit but still why should people be barred from content they bought? I saw a comment saying just cause you but dark souls doesn't mean youre entitled to see the ending. That shit confused me, if I buy the game the whole 69.99 or however much. It cost means that I am directly entitled to do/see all the content in the game (excluding dlc).

3 RepliesWhy are people trying so hard to get PvP weapons to use in the most unbalanced flawed PvP of all time? I mean if you're trying to check it off your list ok. I can't believe people subject themselves to the plagued bs of destiny (red bars, blah blah etc) so they can get a chance at weapons to go play the casual version of PvP which is still plagued with red bars and such as mentioned above. But eh people love to whine so I'll let them waste their time while I crack open another brew or load up a bowl and jump back into The Destiny Grind

100% agree

5 RepliesEdited by Bicepus Maximus: 10/24/2016 3:29:21 PMJust don't buy Destiny 2. No way I am going to preorder it. If they implement something as stupid as trials then don't get the game. Honestly, BF1 is so awesome... that is real fps compeition. Destiny Trials pvp is a bunch of cry babies in diapers screaming elite while shating themselves. These so called elite don't even know what comp is.... Trials is a cancer. It ruined this game for many players, is hated by most, and most players think is NOT fun. Why is it still in the game? Compeition? Where is MLG? How many pro destiny players are there? What teams and tournaments coming up? NONE. Destiny pvp is not competitive and so riddled with cheats will never be competitive. Don't worry though. I know a guy that can get you to the lighthouse by connection manipulation and DDoS attacks. Wtf.... You all need to stfu. The devs need to make Trials 9 wins and infinite losses so everyone plays and has fun. If you get 9 wins then lighthouse and adept rewards.
-
Well getting booted in the middle of a card to earn a red dot or facing lag switchers, or getting a farm animal from bungie's shitty net code certainly adds an extra layer of difficulty when trying to get to the lighthouse
-
Go to the lighthouse? Hell, I know my limitations and won't even start a trials run. I would never be that cruel to 2 other guardians.
-
Only issue im having is that we win 1 game (1-0) we get matched with 8 wins people the next game... 3rd time in a row now

4 RepliesEdited by codecseven: 10/24/2016 6:58:54 PMI know I'm not good enough to compete in trials, or ever get to the lighthouse right now. The thing that bugs me about this is I'm therefore somewhat locked out of playing part of the game, and not able to achieve some sort of game completion. Now I understand why trials has been created for elite players, but it bugs me that there isn't really a way to learn or improve without all the pain of finding others to play with. I was never interested in raids before this game, or iron banner either, but those activities are at least easier to join and complete with other casuals. I agree with some of the ideas on this post, why only allow 9-0 players to go to a social area, why not just better loot? Otherwise you are not really providing an incentive for people to suffer through the gitgud process!

2 RepliesI see no problems with how trials is right now, my friend has been trying for over a year to get to the lighthouse and he finally did it, 30 minutes ago... imagine if he had been handed alternate routes to the lighthouse, all the work he put in to get to the lighthouse would yield no such sense of achievement that he got from his accomplishment and would instead make it just another loot drop, i think bungie made the right call in making flawless runs as hard as they are. But i'm not saying that the current system is absolutely perfect, it's good as it is, but i'd suggest one change: two trials routes, one is only open to players that have already gone flawless and the other is open to everyone, the one that everyone can do would be 9-0 to get flawless, and would drop one set of trials gear and the route that is only open to players who have already been flawless would give a better set, while still providing a more difficult experience than the current trials that are really easy to people. Think about it, some people can do double carries, don't you think that they're bored with going flawless 3 times a week and having nothing to show for the fact that they are so good at the game. On the other hand, the players who have never been flawless, but are better than the noobs who try trials every week would be given something to show their skill level in terms of loot
-
Hmm my clan "Your Average Playerz" has gone flawless and we actually are average players that like to take part in all activities. We do all the activities and raid heroic all day long. So I am not sure what he means by average players should not go there. Screw Mantis and his tweet. If you are an AVERAGE player and you like to rock the universe. Come right in, and join the fun.
-
You're absolutely right! And that is why carries are so abundant that it screws people who actually have a chance!
-
Hello! I do carries (for free) every weekend and I can tell you my experience after a few months of doing so. Firstly, there is a huge difference between those who actively seek out routes to the Lighthouse (playing with friends, LFG good teams, getting carried whether free or pay-to-play, etc) and those who sit back and complain about not achieving the LH yet. I've carried those who have NEVER been, yet their spirit and mindset is set on it. This is the mindset that seems to be missing from those passively engaging in ToO or those who just complain about how it's "unfair". It's been said before, and I'll say it again; if you want to go to the LH, it STARTS WITH YOU. This is an end-game event with end-game loot, and there are various routes to getting end-game loot. This brings me to my second point: end-game loot is not meant to be achieved by EVERYONE. It's meant for those who have the mentality and will power to go and achieve it (refer back to my 1st point). So, for those making threads about how it's unfair and Bungie is "barring" people from the LH (smh), stop complaining and get a different approach and mindset to achieving the LH. TL;DR There are different methods to the LH. Stop complaining, pick a method, or just leave ToO alone for those who actually have the mindset and willpower to achieve it

2 RepliesPeople need to keep in mind that the only non-cosmetic reward for going flawless is a primary with snapshot. You can get all the armor and all the weapons minus one perk on the primaries by just playing.
-
3 Replies
"If you believe that youre an average player than yeah, you wont make it, but if you think youre above average, than you can probably make it"
-Lord Argo

Go bankrupt Mr. Money at the screen. All of you lmao
-
Who cares ? Don't even play pvp and went once when it first started then again when the dlc cane out last month... Really nothing there... don't care for the weapons or armor. Burn the lighthouse down or open it to everyone. What's the big deal ?
-
Well, Bungie better ban carries then.

4 RepliesOr just give us shitty players a social space called "The Outhouse". It will have a chest giving all blue engram like gear and maybe a box of raisins
-
Thanks you for this post. People are still going to be salty and ridiculous about it, but maybe we can change a few minds.

I just want them to fix the pvp p2p connections so I actually have a real shot at going flawless based on my skill., and skill alone. How many games do I have to play where my shotgun doesn't do full damage at point blank, and I get shot while behind a wall. It's called latency and doesn't belong in space where I have to perform a certain way to be rewarded. This rng connection shit is just, for some reason not a huge argument when it comes to trials, except for every single lfg player I join up with.
