I'm trying to get my dad to try out destiny as he hasn't tried a shooter in a while and I'm interested to see if he is interested in my favourite game.
My one thought before firing up the game is, what subclass should I start him off with. If anyone's got a spare moment I'd love to hear what you love about your main subclass.
Edit: Thanks for replies, it's really quite awesome to see how there are tons of different things people like their subclass for. I've got tons I can tell my dad before he makes a choice on his first subclass now. Thanks everyone.

space magic....

4 RepliesI enjoy striker for the sheer utility the subclass has. I rarely used Shoulder Charge to kill, more as a mobility tool, the higher damage melee pairs well with a shotgun to bring down supers, and if all else fails, FoH will get the job done.

Sunsinger, always a big help when going down solo or with a team

1 ReplyThree words: Big. Purple. Bubble.

I just can't leave shadestep
-
Quickdraw Skip grenades
-
I can double/triple jump
-
Hunter 'cause cloaks, Nightstalker 'cause bow & arrow.
-
Golden gun with combustion. Works every time ( ͡ʘ ͜ʖ ͡ʘ)
-
Titan obviously. Fastest and easiest to use
-
Voidwalker... Who doesn't want to shoot balls of explosive space magic at people
-
Im a little older and slower so the titan striker is good for me. Kinda like a tank rolling through the battle field.
-
Strormcaller is my favorite. So satisfying to use
-
Chain of wow, scavenger, all around bad ass-iness (?) ...I kill with my heart
-
Gunslinger is probably the simplest if you can aim
-
Depends on his play style. The neutral all around class, warlock. Neutral jump, best melee, can be tanky like a titan, but slow jump. Hunter for best jump and ad control when he unlocks void. Easiest class to use. Titan is a challenge to learn compared to the other two but all classes have a good super for self protection, and are the fastest class.

Sunsinger It's an underrated subclass, really. I mainly use it for pve. Fusion grenades and vf+tof are my favorite for dps.
-
I main a celestial gunslinger. The raw damage output is just undeniable.
-
I main a warlock but your dad may not like this class. IMO he should start off as a Titan defender.
-
Space magic...
Boom...
-
If he dies alot, sunsinger. If he sucks with guns, striker.
-
I really like Radiant skin Sunsinger. I ocationally swap to fireborn, but Radiant skin is sweet. I usually run with Gift of the Sun and Ahamkaras Grasps, for two Melee and grenade. Then I run sunburst so I can make a load of orbs for my team. I also run maxed out armor and recovery. Not the easiest class to master, but boi is it good. If I run fireborn it's usually on hard mode raid or Trails. I recommend using Purifier Robes for the blind. Also solar grenades with touch of flame, Viking funeral, and Sunbreakers, can seriously crank out some boss dps or add clearage.
-
Out-sniping snipers with my melee... Ain't those Longbows taking me down, at least not today. Not today.
-
Titan jump w/ maxed out agility and Mida agility bonus. Fast as fast can be you can't catch me!

5 RepliesEdited by pValue2010: 10/18/2016 2:12:59 PMTitan bubble. I'd recommend any newbie start out with this. It is easy to survive and is still badass and helpful even if you're not too good at the game. This isn't my main subclass but it's my second favorite and probably best for your pops.

I main a Warlock, and oddly enough, I don't particularly have a main subclass. I find that each of them is useful in its own right, so I tend to alternate between them.
